I live in NYC. I lived in NYC when Borat hit theatres. I believe this is staged because even then a night at now-closed Wellington--even on a weeknight in mid-winter--cost about $200 bucks. The hotel was shit. It had cramped rooms and elevators often out of service. I don't recognize the guy at the service desk ans think he, too, may have been an actor.
I love this film. Look at some of the premiere interviews and think how they would go down with the audience of today. It is sad. We have lost our way. Funny is funny. Don't take it personally. Please
