I found Matthew's speech to be incredibly helpful and enlightening. His personal approach to life is straightforward and inclusive. It's refreshing to have an opportunity to get advice that brings you up and doesn't give a lecture.

Sorry, Mr McConaughey, but someone raped is a victim, someone who has a gun put their head and robbed is a victim. To say life is tough, you are not a victim, is ignorance and comes from a place of privilege. To say you are a victim, but you are so much more, would have been wiser.

The speech is fine but the music in this video is a terrible choice. It's cheesy and distracting and the level is way to high. Moving on...

It’s the standard fare of self help books and there’s nothing wrong with it. It’s good general advice. Most often than not, though, you can try all you want, work as hard as you can to achieve the success to which you reasonably aspire and it all looks perfectly achievable, given the limits of your abilities. But hey, if your stars are against you, everything will come crashing down around your ears and you will end up without anything. Life is a lottery governed by luck! Not all of your well meaning advice can change that!

What a load of trite tripe. Utter glorified rubbish by a vacuous Hollywood posterboy. This is a poor rehash of Baz Luhrmann's Everybody's Free some 25 years ago. There's a drizzle of techbro philosophy, like the jaded Steve Jobs quip about "stay hungry" (while he was getting coffee enemas and chomping carrots, cause he believed he had more insights into cutting edge cures than than the doctors who diagnosed him with a treatable pancreatic cancer...) - but I can tell you if this is the sort of numbnut philosophy you adhere to, then you've not learned the most important lesson of Jobs' journey. Oh and drop any advice on wearing sunscreen, we're fucked anyway.
