    As someone who already went through occupational burnout with no way of stopping work or otherwise I'd be out in the street, I'm always in favour of more social safety nets. Liked your UBI rant at the end, I'm a big supporter of the idea. Also, as far as the channel, maybe adding some shorts pulled out from the main videos can help with output?

    I think the only thing you need to do is make content that is a bit more "mainstream". Not saying you have to play games like call of duty etc. Just that you have chosen a game that while fun for you is basically in the category of "forgotten in a dark corner" niche game. I really see no need for you to do any sort of voice work etc. Its more or less you having to find your style with either games or other things that are a bit more "eye catching" than for example Satisfactory. Sadly this is just how social media works. For example I wish I could do gameplay videos of games I love. But most of them are games no one cares for because they also fit in that same category as Satisfactory does. Your videos are interesting for the most part. Its just the subject aren't eye catching enough to pull in most people. That is really the TLDR. You just need to find your style and something that can pull in the average viewer.

    hey sorry to hear about the job troubles! I am also laid off so I feel your pain. I actually studied to be an economist! as for UBI I am fairly sure its not a great idea. it sounds good, but the problem isnt the income or even how to pay for it. the problem comes in how the rest of the economy reacts to it. it tends to fuel inflation and increase prices, thus the need to increase the UBI, which becomes an endless cycle. I am 100% in favor of the flat tax you mentioned though, that would greatly spur the economy. there is one more misconception in your video, "the rich" do not pay less taxes. in actuality the top 2% income earners pay over 50% of the revenue generated by taxes.

      Thank you for commenting. I really appreciate your insight as an economist. I have a few counterpoints. While it's easy to point to the COVID checks as the main cause of the most recent round of inflation, studies proved that it just wasn't the case. Our current inflation is due to corporate greed, not because people making less than 40k a year had a little more money for a couple months. An extra $500 billion in circulation isn't going to make an appreciable difference when "people" like Elon Musk are being paid $47 Billion a year and just pissing it away in the stock market. The economy isn't a single thing. It's the entirety of all money (real or otherwise) moving around. The response to something like UBI doesn't have to be inflation. The response to increased demand should be to increase supply rather than to restrict supply to increase prices. Generally increased production leads to lower prices. This didn't happen during the worst of COVID because of a disruption in supply chains. By the time those supply chains were ironed out, all that COVID money was gone so it just became price gouging. I don't think we should run an economy that only works if it's poorest people have to be ignored or maliciously exploited for cheap labor. There was once a time in our civilization where we measured our success by how well we took care of the poorest among us. I want to go back to that. In every pilot program of UBI, the economy improved because less money was going into enforcement, and public programs for like addiction treatment. Someone who has a roof over their head and food in their belly is much less likely to commit a crime. They can be a happy, productive member of society instead of a met drain. Final point is on how the rich pay taxes. I should have been more specific by saying the rich pay a FAR smaller portion of their income in taxes than the working class. The actual dollar amount may be more but proportional to their earnings, it's hardly anything. It's such a tiny portion that dickheads like Elon Musk can "donate" $50 Million a month without hardship, and may end up making money thanks to tax write-offs. Another point I should have made was that the rich have far more options for wiggling out of their tax burden than the poor. I'm glad we are on the same page about a flat income tax. Our current tax system is nothing short of baffling even at its most basic level. There are so many loopholes that it's a wonder the government is able to collect any taxes in the first place. I see a flat progressive income tax as the only logical way for everyone to pay their fair share without any "but for"s.

    nice video! just a tip with pumps. you only need pumps to go up. they provide headlift, or the max height the fluid can get to. pipes that are horizontal do not need any pumps. extra pumps do not make the fluid move faster, although they can prevent "sloshing" in the pipes.

    So i think you want to switch your fuel production to petroleum coke for now, then you can burn your byproduct in coal generators to get a little extra power, you can also use it as a fuel for a truck station to have a tractor bring the rubber and plastic to your actual factory so you don't have to set up belts the entire way over.

    nice video! im surprised that you want your lines to back up. if they are backed up it means you arent using everything the miner is producing. and yes, snapping on a splitter to the miner like that will resolve the issue. power towers are great with the zipline! extend out the tower, zipline over, extend again!

      Having belts backing up means there's less of a chance of something breaking down due to a lack of inputs. I don't want a lack of coal on a single line to cause a power grid failure or a lack of iron ingots on another line cause nuclear pasta to take 3x as long. It's a buffer on the system so things don't have to be as precise.

      @@hesthatguy well just don't leave it to chance, do the math. If your producing 240 coal, you can run 16 generators. No chances. Coal going to power should have its own line, for the reasons you mentioned. If it helps, n is a calculator as well as parts search.

    I just want to say pure Caterium is actually one of the best alt recipes. The map is massive and has a total of 16 nodes for it so late game it's not easy to just get more, and it helps to produce more with a very cheap resource

    I kinda like the smaller setting, giving this is the start of the game, plus destructible voxel environment. I may have to check it out, Satisfactory just feels too clunky to my liking trying to finagle too large of things.

      Funny enough the voxel world is far FAR larger than Satisfactory. Some of the buildings get TRULY MASSIVE in late game. I really hope this series takes off so we can get there.

    nice video! instead of guessing, you should look at the capacity of the belt, and machines and work from there. get exact numbers rather than guessing. also, when overclocking, instead of adjusting the % you can actually click on the per minute section and type in the exact per minute that you want to get. EDIT: the miner will always be limited by the belt speed, adding a splitter doesnt help because the bit of belt before the splitter still limits the speed. its part of a big community complaint, with a mk3 miner, and 250% overclocked, it is impossible to bring out all the ore fast enough. they have said there is a fix for this in 1.0 but havent said what it is. could be faster belts, could be a second output for the miner, could be something else.

      I think you'll find that T2 miners just need a bit of overclocking to hit the max belt speed, for pure nodes anyway. For reference T1 miners base output is 30/60/120 for impure/normal/pure nodes, T2 is 60/120/240 (doubled), and T3 is 120/240/480 (doubled again).

      @@jaye1967 im unsure how this applies to my comment? he was trying to improve throughput by adding a splitter, but that doesnt help because the initial belt will always limit your throughput regardless. as for the miners, you just proved my point. with a mk3 at 250% you are producing 1200 resources, but you can only pull out 780 currently.

      @@marcbennett9232 my guess would be a t6 belt in tier 10. Seems like the easier solution to make pure mk3 miners useable without breaking the early game. Mods like snap on kinda break early game when you're pulling 360 rss from 1 node and only mk2 belts.

    Ive been playing this for a while and the Vamp + Poison is def infinite run strats. I hit floor 48 with that combo before goofing up and hitting myself with a reflected poison multiplier. Bargain STACKS that 5%. So if you can manage to stack 20 of them, you break the shops at 100% price reduction. Also, get rid of the large items. They hurt your ability to pick up stuff. If you pick up a double sword, or the dark sword, or giant sword, you are less likely to hold on to other smaller objects and they dont do enough damage to justify the loss of other items. The only way they are good in a build is with the double-first item use and single-item grab perks since you are more likely to grab those as a single or drop them first. Also, throw the Meli-bombs back at Melimon (end boss). They do 50 damage.

    you must be superman to survive that huge fall off the cliff! I was hoping you had the ladder (from the ficsit shop) it's cheap and so easy to navigate vertical terrain easily. (doesn't support vehicles)

    entertaining video, the spiders are a massive pain. but there are more dangerous things..... just a quick tip. if you are at full health, you will never die from falling, it will always leave you with a sliver of health. EDIT: also dont forget you can put markers on the map to keep track of different nodes youve found and compare them.

    nice video! personally, I like working around the limited size of the blueprint designer. the only 2 mods I think about using is one for elevators and then Satisfactory Plus..... do not try Sat Plus. your not ready yet lol. ya know, I dont think ive ever seen anyone use a tractor for general travel before. very interesting. FYI. 1.0 is announced for SEP 10th. you dont have to restart, but I would recommend it. I know I am restarting.

    If you can upgrade to mark 2 miners and/or use power shards on the miners, you can easily double your coal production on the same nodes.

      Can you even keep the animals contained? It seems like big-boy keeps phasing in and out of existence every couple of episodes. I think the wildlife despawns if I get too far from base. I like the idea of a race track on the second floor.

    just a tip for the editing. I know common youtube wisdom says to keep episodes around 30 minutes, but thats for general youtube average. I dont claim to speak for everyone, but I am fairly accustomed to 1 hour long videos for satisfactory.

    its interesting to see new people tackle these problems. everyone has their own way to do things, thats why this game is so amazing. ok manifolds... are not the same as modules. there are two systems for delivering resources to buildings, load balancing, and manifolds. you can make modular factories either way. both systems work fine. with load balancing, you split the belts to the point where the machine gets the exact correct resources it needs. with a manifold, you have a row of lets say smelters, and each one has its own splitter, and the resources fill up the smelters in line. so the first smelter gets a majority of the resources until it totally fills up, then the second one gets a majority, etc. as long as your numbers are correct, everything will balance out eventually. the disadvantage of a manifold is that it takes longer to "warm up" and get to 100% efficiency. with load balancing it warms up and gets to 100% almost immediately, but the disadvantage is the lines get more complex and take up far more space than a manifold.

    enjoying the series so far! just a tip with power. instead of looking at your current power and trying to double/etc what you have. look at your fuel first. how much do you have. build a power plant that uses ALL of it. then you can breathe easy for a while. for example, with my first coal plant, I usually do 32 or so coal generators. this also has the advantage that you wont have to expand it later, which makes the build look disjointed. EDIT: I believe the ribbing on your generators is due to graphic settings. the detail goes down as you get further away. and stun rebar can be a lifesaver. they dont do any damage, but stopping some of the stronger enemies from attacking while you switch to a different weapon can be really strong. but still, use what you are comfortable with, combat isnt the focus of this game, dont expect anything too challenging.

    the zipline is great actually. with ceiling power connectors you dont have to jump off. the truck uses fuel, and there are many places you cant get to with the truck. also with longer power connections they become better.

      Oh, I didn't consider using it to get around the factory. That would make it a lot easier to get up to and down from the next floors.

    yeah the rock over the node is supposed to stop you from placing a miner... this is a bug I first saw in update 8. im sure it will be fixed for 1.0

    you can use signs as lights. but you could also just turn off Lumen. its off by default, coffee stain has allowed us to turn it on, but they are not officially supporting it, likely because there are not enough lighting options and they didnt have time to make some before 1.0. Lumen looks amazing, but I keep it off for that reason. EDIT: thats a great place for a power plant. just FYI, that rock on the node is supposed to stop you from putting a miner on it.... so thats a bug lol.

    another good video! your probably past biomass burners by now but I have a tip. biomass burners only use fuel when they need to. so if you build extra biomass burners, then all of them burn slower. as an example I build a single plant as soon as I can with 24 biomass burners, and they burn very slowly. I only have to refill them a couple times before hitting coal. why 24? because 24 stacks of fuel fit in a container! EDIT: just a tip with the mergers and splitters. when you place them you can either place them over a belt, or on the ground. if you place them on the belt then they will merge correctly, if you accidentally place them on the ground, they wont be connected even though they look like it.

      Good tips all around. Mercifully, we are no longer dependant on biomass generators. In a few episodes you'll see our coal power facility get built up. We finally replaced all the biomass generators with batteries recently. I discovered the belt issue myself, building the new factory. It didn't make it into the video but I was building and deconstructing splitters and mergers for an hour trying to figure out what the problem was before I realized it wasn't clipping onto the belt.

      @@hesthatguy yeah exactly. for that reason I tend to build the mergers and splitters first and belt into them. the only time I place directly onto a belt is if the belt is in the air, so no chance to snap to the ground.

      Thank you for the kind words. I was struggling to record the intro and after a couple of failed attempts, I just skipped it. When we start out 1.0 factory, I'll try to work the intro in too. I've learned a lot about video production since this first episode.

      Especially when they fly. There were a couple flying cars in Cyberpunk 2077 that I managed to get on and go for a ride before they despawned. So much fun!
