Most of the Dutch Police men and women are really nice but one time i was on my bike omw to the station and i was really late so i sprayed perfume cause i had no time to shower. The cop tought it was my cell phone and gave me a ticket and i was 150 euros lighter

Meanwhile they gave me a 60 euro fine for not having a light on my bike which I saw and got up from the bike 5 meters after leaving the house. On top of all they were complete assholes 😌

While id be confused (I’ve been to many countries in Europe, Australia, and all across North America and never seen this method of pulling over a motorist) it’s definitely superior. Wish cops in the US did this, it removes so much confusion and danger. No stopping in the middle of a bike lane and obstructing traffic, no panicking trying to make that choice between stopping ASAP and stopping somewhere safe, and makes it extremely obvious if youre trying to run/resist.

I once got woken up by the Dutch police at 2 in the morning. Turns out thaf my mom parked the car on the other side of the country and was staying at a hotel for work. She however, forgot to turn it off and turn the lights off, so someone noticed and called the police. They went and found out that it also wasn't locked, so they called their colleagues near our house to wake us up, as it didn't make sense that our car wasn't at home. Thank god for those fancy apps woth cars nowadays, that allow you to lock a car from the other side of the world. Saved us a trip at 2 in the morning. But yeah, the police were really nice. The first thing they said when we opened the door was that nobody is hurt, because that's what you expect when the police show up at that our.

Ive seen many times around Groningen people were using high beams on police if they block left lane drivin 100km/h :DDD its just embarassing that you have different speed in different time just drive 130 140 150 like normal people would do

Dutch cops usually read you pretty well, they're going to be assholes if they expect you to be. Stern but just! All my interactions with them were as drunk teens, so they usually were pretty rough, but cooled as soon as they understood we were not going to be a problem. Only positive interactions.
