Will A Row Hipper Work On A Subcompact Massey Tractor?!!
I tilled the garden area again and wanted to try the row hipper on the Massey subcompact tractor. Trying different settings to get it to work with a slow travel speed.

I picked up some new toys for the Massey GC & the TYM T474 tractors. I needed these implements for a job. I went to South Side Tractors where I got a great deal on them and took a look at all the tractor implements they have there. I also got a close up look at the Bad Boy tractors for the first time as well.

Great video !!! I always heard that anytime you are using the front end loader on a Massey gc1723 subcompact that you need to have 4 wheel drive engaged. I sure don't want to mess up my tractor, but it does help to push into the pile your are working with. should I stay in 2 wheel drive ?
Thank you Richard, for watching and the comment! You see correct that 4 wheel drives helps to dig in. What I would recommend is watch your turning radius when under a load. Try to make a wide of turns you can get. Long sweeping turns if at all possible. Have a good week! See ya in the next one!

so how do you get cat 2 arms into the cat 1 quick hitch. have a new cat 2 tractor but old cat 1 implements and quick hitch. balls on lower tractor arms to wide to fit into the area where you connect them on the quick hitch.
Well, thanks for making the video. Been using mine for years just winging it and looking for info online with no help. This did. 👍🏻
Thank you schoon3303, for watching and the kind comment. I learn more about it every time I work with it. Have a great weekend! See ya in the next one!
Great video looking at the same tractor
Thank you Chad, for watching and the comment! I really appreciate it! Best of luck with your new tractor no matter what tractor you get! Have a good week! See ya in the next one!
Have you had any issues with the engine driveshaft on your GC? I’ve had to replace a failed U-joint on it about every 300 hours, along with failed turnbuckle seals on the front axle. I’m going to trade it for a 1725 now.
Thank you Douglas, for watching and the comment! Sorry to hear that you are having so many issues with yours. I have had no problem with the U-joints or the seals. I hope the 1724 does better for you. Have a good week! See ya in the next one!
it seems to me if you have a welder , it's just a matter of moving that metal plate down a few inches. As long as it does hit your PTO shaft.
Thanks you Victor, for the comment! You are correct. If it's just one or two implements and you have the tools, time and ability. Then moving it is no problem, but if you plan on getting more over time are already have a few. This is so much faster and easer to make all of them work. Have a great weekend! See ya in the next one!
It's no good on big gear trust me. Cat 1 or 2 it's good
I just bought my T474 TYM 2 months ago, it came with Bluetooth speakers, ROPS led lights, roof top and a backhoe step and I absolutely love this tractor. 👍
Thank you Victor, for watching and the comment! Wow! Yours came loaded. That's awesome! They are hard working tractors. Congratulations on your new tractor! Have a great weekend and I hope you get a lot of seat time. See ya in the next one!
Hate the fuel tank but it’s a beast
Thank you Terry, for watching and the comment! Boy! I am with you on that!!! Lol. Have a good week! See ya in the next one!
Watched this several times. You should work for Massey or any other tractor manufacturer in the field. You know more than most sales men out there.
Thank you Rudy! You are to kind. I really appreciate your comment. I just learn from others like the guys at my dealer. Hope you are having a good week! See ya in the next one!
Absolutely!!
All my controllers for backhoe jst quit wrking cld it be fuses??
Thank you Melissa, for watching and the comment! My model is all mechanical controls so no fuses. I would check the connection on the lines that hook the backhoe to the tractor. Also check hydraulic fluid level on the tractor. Hope this helps. Let me know what you find. Have a good week! See ya in the next one!
greetings from north texas, born raised in La.
Thank you Billy, for watch and the comment! How's it going! I was born in La but grow up in Houston area. lol. Have a good week! See ya in the next one!
@@LouisianaTractorworks I moved back to La about 25 years ago, I was raised in Vidalia, but moved to Baton Rouge from Ft Worth....the humidity was as insane as I remembered but the crime was higher than dallas and ft worth combined. I came back to Texas after 6 months. I still have very fond memories of growing up in Louisiana but so much has changed since i grew up there. Still a sportsmans paradise though and some great people
@@BillyBlaze7 yea it's not the same as the old days.
I have one built by Howse(no longer in business😔)that I bought in 2013. They called theirs a ridger. It works great. I disk first, then pulverize with the tiller and then make my rows with the ridger. I make a row, go back down with the plow up and then make another row, make a row-skip a row. Look up Web Cajun on here for information about this. I do this with a John Deere 5105 and I will have very close to 5 feet between rows which allows me to get my tiller in there and clean out between rows. Great for a pea or melon patch. We have had so much rain in northeast La. this spring, it may be July before I can get anything planted. I’ve never seen anything like it.
Thank you Rollo Lawson, for watching and the comment! Sorry for the late reply. Been working extremely long days because of all these storms rolling through. I hear you, I don't think I will get a chance to do a garden this year either. Last year not enough rain and this year way to much. Yea, it does work really good once I got some time working it and learn it. I have seen his videos. About the only ones on youtube. I hope you get a garden in this year and it does well. Have a great weekend! See ya in the next one!
Good day Mon Ami, I hope that you are doing very well Sir 👍👍😇😇🙏🙏👌👌🍻🍻
Thank you Dave. Sorry for taking so long to reply. Waiting for computer parts to come in so I can get back online. I hope you are doing well also. Have a great weekend!
Sorry I already commented on this. I am using my hipper today. Love the thing.
That is fine. The more I learn how to use it, the more I like it. See ya!
Disk it, till it rip it, do something prior to using the hopper. I have an identical row hipper from Steve’s Tractor. It works very well. I love it. I also prepare my soil prior to using it.
Thank you C. Carney, for watching and the comment! You are right It does a lot better when the ground is broke up and even better when tilled. Have a good week! See ya in the next one!
Nice... Just installed mine on GC1720...
Thank you Jonny, for watching and the comment! Congrats on the protector. It makes a bit difference on your tractor. It will save you from a lot of damage. Have a great weekend! See ya in the next one!
The guy works very hard he deserves the best ,thank you for your info Sir
Thank you George, for watching and the very kind comment! I really appreciate! The Massey is a great little tractor. Have a great weekend! See ya in the next one!
I see most of, if all the issues are with loose bolts. Tractor runs fantastic. Use locktight on those bolts and never have loose bolts again. Im looking to purchase a Massey or Kioti so hreat video. I will probably go for some of those bolts ahead and loctite them preemptively. Great video
Thank you Paul, for watching and the comment! I don't know much about the new model but this Massey has been a work horse. I've done unbelievable things with it. You are right. The thread Locker will do a lot for one. Have a great weekend! See ya in the next one!
Hey buddy, me again, wassup! Well I got that bracket and ripper tooth ordered, actually supposed to arrive tomorrow. I'm rewatching this to see how u handled installing the quick change bracket, with you having the thumb on the hoe and all. Yeh, looks like unbolting the jaw from telescoping part, right from the start, that's the way to go, I'm gonna do that. Man, I recently did a bunch of stumps at a couple of my neighbors, such a mess/chore with the bucket....I went back to watch the vid how you did nice little cuts with the ripper tooth, zip zip zip. I was like, yeh I need to get this for myself too. Have a great one John, hope life's treating you stellar, friend!
Hey old friend!! Congrats on the new toys! Yea you want to pull that bolt on the thumb. I think you will like how fast you can change out your attachments. Have a great weekend! Please let me know how you like it. See ya in the next one!
@@LouisianaTractorworks hey man, I'm having a well deserved beer now, just finished digging out a crazy stump with the ripper! Man this tool is awesome, u da man turning me on to all them attachments buddy!
@@pondacres Nice! I think the ripper is so much fun to work. I was hoping you would like it.
That was painful to watch did you break it yet it's not very sturdy it might last a little while going to be even more stresses when you are moving actual dirt maybe if you set it up just right I wouldn't go too deep either let me see if I can find said I used to follow b a y o u you something something
Thanks Eric, for watching and the comment! It works better if you till the ground first. It will make really nice rows. Have a great weekend! See ya in the next one!
Really liked this one. Great education on hydrostatic drives and what to look for as far as not destroying your equipment.
Thank you Rudy, for watching and the comment! I really appreciate it! Sorry for the late reply. Have a good week! See ya in the next one!
Absolutely!! Good to have guys like you out there. Rock on!! 👍👍

Thank you Lyle, for watching and the comment! The hydraulics are very impressive as well as the overall tractor for it's size. Have a good week! See ya in the next one!
Whatever happened with this?
Thank you Michael, for watching and the comment! It was the relief valve popping off to soon not allowing the hydraulic top fully pressure up. Have a good week! See ya in the next one!
I haven't finished to video yet, but just wanted to thank you for posting this. I'm going to have the wife watch it before she plays on the 574. It'll probably save a little bit of marital stress!
Thank you for the the kind comment! Sorry it took so long to reply. With the really bad weather we had, I've been running like crazy at work. Hope you and the wife are having a lot of fun on that backhoe! Have a good week! See ya in the next one!
I'll add another comment kind of unrelated to this video, but we recently bought a BY85 backhoe for the TYM 574. I'll be hitting your backhoe vids for tips and tricks since I have limited backhoe experience and you appear to be a pro at running them. Take care, hoping all is well, God Bless, and anxiously awaiting more vids. David & Cari Beth
Thank you David & Cari Beth for the comment! Congrats!! On the new backhoe! I'm no pro on a backhoe but I thank you for the compliment. I do love working them. lol. And I think you will as well. I hoping to get my computer issues resolved soon so I can get back to watching videos and posting again. Have a good week! See ya in the next one!

@@fixitjohn I hear good things about the 574. I hope you get one.
Exactly same failure on my 2016 model. Had I watched this video last week, I might have saved myself $600...

That looks like a Stevens Tractor row hipper.
Thank you C. Carney, for watching and the comment! It does look like theirs but I think theirs is better built. Have a good weekend! See ya in the next one!
A couple of observations: 1. This Quick Hitch Adapter looks like a good fit for that particular brush hog, but now you have to remove it the next time you want to use a rake, box blade, ballast box, etc. This adapter doesn't seem to solve the problem of making the quick hitch compatible with every implement. It seems to make it specific to this brush hog and Incompatible with every other implement. 2. Thank you for making the video to try to educate and inform the public, but PLEASE lose the obnoxious music. This is not a music video, please don't try to make it one!
I will rethink hydo vers shuttle shift after watching you here. And I will have to say you did a really good job here explaining Dos and Don"ts! Great job & really helpful!

Love the quick connect, a problem I had with mine , depending on the length of the 3rd link , I had an instance of it hitting the tractor and cracking the plastic molding around the lights on the tractor. In a shortened position (box blade ) this may happen as it did with me.
