1974 SD-455 Trans Am
21,500 mile "Survivor".
I have owned this SD-455 for 50 years. I purchased in March 1974 from the original owner with just over 1,000 miles on it. He took delivery in November 1973. The current milage is 21,500.
The original owner said he needed to sell because his wife was pregnant, and gas prices had doubled (from $0.35/gallon to over $0.70!). There is no bird on the hood. The original owner told me he did not like it and had it removed as soon as he got the car.
The car is a survivor with few modifications, it has the original paint and the interior is in excellent condition. Only the headliner replaced. For the few modifications I did make, the original parts were retained. Early on, the dealer changed the 3:08 rear end gear used only on SD-455's with air conditioning, to the 3:42 gear. I have the original 3:08 in a box. The exhaust is original, except for crossflow muffler replacement with H-O Racing Specialies crossflow muffler.

In July 2022 I replaced my 1989 SEER 8.5 airconditioner with a new Bryant SEER 21.5 (4 ton rating) variable speed unit. Evolution Extreme Model 186CNV. This video compares the sound levels with the variable speed unit operating at 100%. At 12 feet, almost totally silent.

My WRS571CIHW01 was doing the same thing, only it got to where the rattling was constant. It sounded like a diesel truck was parked outside my house, idling. It is the the air baffle flapper system that lets cold air from the freezer into the fridge. Also, the ice maker broke. It sounded like a Leprechaun was inside trying to get out by banging with a hammer! The gearing/motor that rotated the tiny ice tray had broken. All this after only one-year since installation. American Home Shield replaced both parts. One week later, the baffle flapper system is making that noise again! I called and asked AHS to send their repair sub back out.
Your a lucky man Dave to have such a wonderful wife who gave you such a wonderful anniversary gift of one of Hawaii's falsetto talent singing in this happy event and this memory will be cherish forever by both of you. Thank you for sharing this special event....Mahalo

I'm white and live in Chicago but love his music. I've been to Hawaii many times and he brings me back just listening to his music. I fall asleep to his music at night on a reg basis
