    More practice and you can start selling. The quality is still not enough. But, good luck. Mascon Leather is the best tuber to learn. Also remember that the more you use machines to help, the less it is real handwork. You use little bit wrong ”bumb jigs”

      Welcome to the leathercraft community! I found wallets a challenge to make. Maybe because of their size, any flaws really show. Everything has to be spot on so you learn quickly where you need to hone your skills. Good luck ahead and let me now how your doing. Thanks for watching my video.

    Now I want to make one for my Yeti tumbler. I take it it's a friction fit, able to slide on and off when you want it to but hold onto it when you're using it? How did you figure out how tight you needed it to be around the Yeti?

    • @brillonleather
      @brillonleather Před měsícem

      Slicking the backside with Tokenole probably wasn’t the best idea. The full tumbler is quite heavy and it was sliding on me. I glued a thin piece of scrap around the inside and it doesn’t slide at all now. I use it daily and it’s been good. I have to work it with all my fingertips to slip it off.

    I started working in my garden in February here is zone 7b. I clean out debris from beds, and start to cut back roses. This year I have drawn lots of sketches as I am taking out many of the plants that deer and rabbits eat. Hosta, lilies, sedum. I am putting in allium, hellebores, butterfly bushes, dwarf variety, and yarrow. Dahlias also seem to work, along with salvia. So far so good, but lots of hard work digging out and digging in. Here’s hoping the investment pays off. Love the sketch book.

    Looks like a nice basic sturdy low tech device. I’ve been thinking about getting one like this and although your demonstration is great I think I’ve now landed on not getting one. First of all my hand skiving technique has improved a good deal from struggling with it for a while and I would love to develop it further. Secondly I don’t have a workshop and my life would come to a swift and painful end if I were to screw this into the teakwood dining room table. 😂

    • @brillonleather
      @brillonleather Před 10 měsíci

      It actually splits the leather will a blade rather than grinding. I've only used it to skive my belts at the folded area rather than skiving by hand. it's worked well on my bridle like in the video. I haven't used it for anything else.

      I'm sure everyone that has attempted leathercraft has gone through the the beginner perils. I wanted to make a video as the beginner because most videos show impeccable work and skill. It's tough for the beginner to compare their own work to. Looking back at over a year of practice I can see and feel the improvement I am having and hope that continues. It's a rewarding skill and hopefully you will continue and see your progress over time. It's a marathon, not a sprint, as they say. Thanks for watching and good luck.
