Quite possibly the worst band ever.

No views. Everyone forgot about this band. I still listen every once in a while with a beer 🍺 and reminisce on the golden brown days.

What a memorable night. Constant drizzle the entire set just added to the aura, as if the rock and roll sky was weeping at the sheer wonder and magic that they came together again to play for us, and play so fucking well. I've just finished reading Trouble Boys and damn... "God, what a mess, on the ladder to success" is an understatement!

Femmes, doing what they do. Saw them last night in Kingston NY on the 40'th anniversary of their first album tour. Played for over an hour and a half more after they ran through the album, without a break. Brian close shaved and cropped, Gordon in freakishly long hair and resurrected bathrobe. They somehow played with all their early passion and crispness but with many more colors and textures added and refined through the years. Many back-up horns and percussion players, Gordon playing more banjo and fiddle than I've seen. They all looked like they were having a great time and it was like a love affair between them and the all ages colors orientations punk to Christian to hippie to trans to kids to grandparents and beyond audience. We all know the road behind stretches longer than the one ahead, but these guys are at some kind of old age peak. Reply

Reliving this night 10 years later. I was at the rail to right of center. Might be my camera shown every once in a while trying to take pics unobtrusively. Not many phones then and vid quality not that good. I’d seen them several times in the ‘80s and this night was magical. This will be my 10th Riot Fest this year and my daughter now lives in Chicago as a result of falling in love with the city making the 7-hour drive to RF shows. But of all the bands and performances I’ve seen there, and there were many great ones, this still holds up as the most cherished.

I'll always love these dudes. The part where Gordon is trying not to lose it after someone shouts "WHAT ABOUT HOWARD?" and he changes up the lyrics to "Howard's been through some sh..." is so cute I can't help but laugh every time. 😆
