Ghostbusters teaser remastered
The infamous teaser remastered using a widescreen VOD file that I’m not sure of the origin of, and the Criterion LaserDisc (where the audio and the 'COMING SOON' snipe came from).

Great true story made into mostly great movie. The launch sequence was used by every home theater store as a demo of how powerful their speakers were. 1. Warning 2. THX LaserDisc logo 3. MCA Universal Home Video logo 4. Universal Pictures 1991 logo 5. Start of film

Criminally underrated biopic. I paid $60 for this laserdisc about 8 years ago because it wasn't on DVD at that point! 1. Warning 2. MGM/UA Home Video logo 3. United Artists logo 4. Opening to THE MUSIC LOVERS

Psycho 1968 Re-Release Trailer
zhlédnutí 1,6KPřed 9 lety
Sort of rare, this is only on the 1988 LaserDisc and is bunched together with the re-release TV spots that are on later laser and DVD releases of the film. The reason why they emphasize 'The Version TV Wouldn't Dare Show' is because "Psycho" was pulled at the last minute from a TV premiere because of a similar murder case that happened a few days before the scheduled airing.
Opening to Psycho 1984 VHS
zhlédnutí 4,5KPřed 9 lety
This must have originated earlier than '84 since it has the ancient MCA Videocassette logo on it. Completely different transfer from the 1988 laserdisc too; there's more picture on the top and bottom of the screen and its much darker. 1. Warning 2. MCA Videocassette logo 3. Universal 1963 logo 4. Opening to 'PSYCHO'
Opening to Psycho 1988 LaserDisc
zhlédnutí 6KPřed 9 lety
This disc boasts great sound and an open matte picture, but isn't properly timed for brightness and contrast, thus everything looks very flatly lit compared to later laser and DVD releases. 1. Warning 2. MCA Home Video logo 3. Universal 1963 logo 4. A Paramount Release (Psycho variant) 5. Start of film

For a longgg time I was of the opinion that, outside of the boxing sequences, the film looked a bit dull. That's until I watched the Criterion 4k which is way more accurate to the original print Scorsese put out. Superior to the underwhelming dvd and blu rays. The scenes by the pool that Siskel refers to stand out much more vividly. So i totally understand what Siskel meant. I imagine it would've looked amazing in cinemas.
What a beautiful movie and what a great effort. And it's even crazier that the 2 that followed were even bigger pieces. Thank you George for the best movie saga that has ever existed.
If Lionel Newman composed this version of the fanfare and David Newman composed the 1997 fanfare then the 1994 fanfare is the only official one not to be composed by anyone in the Newman family

one thing i hated about vhs is when they would add something like this BEFORE the movie, like why wouldnt you just put it at the end? what if you never saw the movie and now you know all the secrets right before watching LOL
I'm glad that I can really Enjoy this movie now in large part because of nostalgia

is it wrong i laughed at its so dense. I actually like the movie, but they were laying it on thick in this promo.
SUMMER 1998
Thanks for conserving this video on You Tube. I invite the internet to just enjoy the 25th anniversary theatrical re-release and stop hitting on The Phantom Menace. It is a nisconception that it is a failure and universally disliked. It‘s great to experience today how grownups started loving Star Wars as part of the Prequel generation. I enjoyed myself greatly at this week‘s screening and continue to be in awe of what these fine artists achieved.
no, its pretty accurate that it was universally disliked.
@@purefoldnz3070 Not by the kids who grew up with them. It was a group of adults and critics who the films weren't made for that tended to not like it.
@@zoetropeguardian those kids love movies about space taxes and senate debates. Oh no but please stay for the farts lol
@@purefoldnz3070 I am glad you're here to assume you know a kid's opinion as it's really just like the Original Trilogy when it got political like when Leia is on a diplomatic mission to bring Obi-Wan back with her or Tarkin announcing Palpatine has dissolved the Imperial Senate or that Lando is going through supply and union problems. These layers go right over our heads as a youngling. Of course we'll love things like Jar Jar and the lightsaber fights but as we get older we'll appreciate the story more too. Like any great piece of art it ages with you as you see it through new prospectives. George is a master at showing things through an earnest wide eyed lense that you see depth behind as you grow up.
@@zoetropeguardian you do know Leia wasn't really on a diplomatic mission right? lol. You know that was a cover right?? Please god send help.

I remember seeing this in the theatre 🎥 back in the day when it first came out. I was 11 years old. How the time flies by
Ironic that the best film of the 80's was made in the 70's.
I tend to think of it as the last 70s film,, the kind of gritty films they were making in that decade.
Jesus I forgot about this, having owned the VHS tape and rewatched it in loop for a year until the DVD finally showed up, I always had to fast forward that shit all the time, but yes it was there !

The amount of work that went into making these movies is beyond human belief

This is NOT the best film of the 80s. Incredibly well-made.... yes. But there are a lot more entertaining films.
Your opinion. I could watch Raging Bull over and over again, if anything just for the imagery. And watching DeNiro melt down is always entertaining.
@@deckofcards87 You can watch him melt down and make a bigger fool of himself in real life now.
The preview for Episode II sums up the trilogies nicely: The originals are the redemption of Darth Vader, the prequels are the _tragedy_ of Darth Vader.
This movie was directed by Ron Howard.

I still have this set, multiple copies, except they're in pan and scan. I have one set that I bought on Ebay and I have the IV and V tapes from the one I got when I was 4 in 2000(my original VI tape was chewwed up by a VCR years ago).
One of the best logos ever, I love it

This was the very first letterboxed laserdisc (and the third one altogether) that Criterion ever put out in 1985.

Dont know if you will respond.but whats your setup??
Would you be able to upload the entire film? I'm hoping to combine it to my 4K digital copy for an open matte edit?

Great monologue. Also true for those who pioneered the first dive suit. Scotland, I believe. Thought the kewpies would get ahold of them underwater and drown them
I don't think so you freak
Sounds like Colin Fox doing the voiceover
when the SCI FI channel was worth watching, i have not watched this in years
Same here, but sadly that happened to most TV programming.

I have fond memories of renting these flicks from Hollywood video and watching them late at night with my brother or lil sister.
