i did a pecha kucha with the tokyo office at work. a pecha kucha is a presentation with only pictures and you can only spend 20 seconds on each slide! it was so much fun and i challenged myself to use as much of my (rusty) japanese as possible which was both nerve wracking and thrilling!

Why wouldn't her mom speak to her in Urdu as a child? Why wouldn't she want her to retain her language and culture? Major fail on her end.
she likely followed that now outdated idea that teaching them their national language would limit their ability to learn English, which would be necessary to find good opportunities
