Swing Dancing - Fancy 6-beat moves
Level up your 6-beat with these more challenging moves, including a free tuck turn to open, a leaders turn, and a free spin for follows. We usually recommend that for Swing dancing followers do their triple steps through their turns, but for an extra challenge try a spin - but you'll need to really be in control of your own balance, and know exactly where the beat is so that you step down at the right time to keep on dancing. Then we ended with an unusual transition into Hallelujahs for a jazzy break which is surprising and super lead-able too.
We also talked about technique and connection which is crucial to making these moves work. Leads need to be really clear as to when they're asking their follow to move vs when they are asking them to chill out while the lead does their fancy turn.

Savoy Walk is a beautiful form of Ballroomin' blues, originating in the Savoy ballroom and danced to slower, more jazzy style of Blues music. This little demo shows the moves we taught at the Goulburn workshop, including the leg sweep, side dip and more. Note the smooth travelling interspersed with splashy moves, continuous flow and close connection between the partnership.

I do recommend Werner Kern shoes. They make top class dance shoes for all the dance styles, they have a line dedicated to swing dances too. The company is based in Germany.
Thanks for the tip, I hadn't heard of that brand before so I took a look at their website and they have some shoes that would definitely work for Swing Dancing! I'd avoid anything with a narrow or high heel (like you might wear for Latin dance styles) as it can be a bit dangerous for Swing Dancing. But their dance sneakers look really cute and comfortable, and the low block heels look great too.
@@joyuen3649 You're welcome! The quality of the shoes is superb, superior to many brands I've tried over the years, and they make shoes for wider feet too. I have a pair of their sneakers and of Emma Comfort low-heel shoes (and some more for Latin dances :-)).
