High up in the Mountains of Crotoonia, high up where most railway’s don’t go, there is a queer pair of railway tracks that winds its way up and down the mountains, with catenary wires above each pair of rail. This is the main line of the Westburg, Bardington, and Mountain Railroad, but you best call it The Mountain Road. The Mountain Road are home to plenty of friendly faces, including the Electric BoxCab & SteepleCab Locomotives, and others. On The Mountain Branch, there is a minor Switching yard where trains from the MountainRoad drop off loaded Railroad Cars in exchange for empty ones. The loaded ones get taken away by the Crotoonian Locomotives while the empty freight cars are taken by Mountain Road locomotives to be loaded up. The Mountain Road is a Class 1 Railroad Company, and it is not owned or operated by Crotoonia United Rail; It is its own individual entity, along side it’s main competitor & business partner: The ShadowStone Railway. The ShadowStone Railway is a Class 2 Railroad Company, and thus, it doesn’t nearly have as much trackage as the Mountain Road (only having 3/5ths as much trackage), but it still serves as the Mountain Road’s main competitor. There are plenty of smaller Class 3 Railroad Companies and Narrow Gauge Logging & Mining companies that work along with the Mountain Road and the ShadowStone, and all of them operate independently from Crotoonia United Rail. The ShadowStone Railway Company shares its name with other things. There is a town named Fort ShadowStone, there is a Mountain named Mt.ShadowStone, and Mt.ShadowStone is itself part of the ShadowStone Range, and there is a set of Railway line that runs next to the edge of a cliff on the slopes of Mt.ShadowStone called The ShadowStone Pass. Yeah, the name ShadowStone really runs deep. Anyways, the ShadowStone pass serves as a portion of the Mainline for the ShadowStone Railway, and there are portions of the Pass where there is only a single set of rails, with a towering wall on one side, and a steep descending cliff on the other. The ShadowStone pass is regarded as quite dangerous year round. During the Spring & Summer months, as snow melts from Mt.ShadowStone, rockslides and avalanches are extremely common. During the Autumn months, fierce storms with howling wind, pelting rain, and chaotic lightning threaten to rip trains off the track and into the dark valley below. And in Winter, blinding blizzards and biting gusts create huge snow embankments, sometimes blocking the pass. Mt.ShadowStone doesn’t play around when trains run on the pass, and yet, despite all the dangers, the ShadowStone pass has remained relatively safe. That was until one time. You could say it was quite literally a dark and stormy night. An engine of the Mountain Road, a MILW EF-2 BoxCab Electric named Al was ascending the ShadowStone pass. The wailing wind and pounding rain fell upon Al as he struggled up. He soon reached the more flattened middle portion of the pass, where there was double track. Al proceeded, trying to make up for lost time, while also being careful. Little did he know, that the constant downpour of rain had caused the very ground the rails were on to become unstable. Al unknowingly went over the unstable section. The Ground gave way and he and his train tumbled over the edge and down into the sharp jagged rocks of the river valley far below. Only the Conductor, who was in the caboose managed to leap to safety before the entire train went down. The conductor contacted the Dispatcher and told him of the situation. It was only after the sun rose and the storm had pass that the true extent of what had happened was revealed. Al & his train was now just a heaping pile of twisted mangled steel at the bottom of the cliff, and half of the flat section of the Pass was gone, replaced by a deep gash in the mountain side. Arlo, a MILW EF-3, and a Good friend of Al, was deeply affected by the loss of his friend. A bridge was soon constructed where the former peace of ground was. Engines of the Mountain Road advise all visitors not to look down at the stretch of track on the ShadowStone pass now called Al’s Decent, for the sight of what lays at the bottom of the cliff is truly a horrible sight. The Mountain Road, the ShadowStone, and the other Railways & Railroads up in the mountains prioritize safety above all else. All to ensure another incident like Al’s Fall would never happen again.

The Fantasy Land & Fairytale Railway Traction Company Limited. I’ll shorten it to the FL&FRTCL. There is also Crotoonia United Rail, but I’ll call it the CUR. I have envisioned my own Railroad Corporations. Firstly, there is the Westburg, Bardington, and Mountain Railroad Corporation, but it’s just called The MountainRoad. Next is the ShadowStone Railway Company, or just the ShadowStone. Both these companies are Electrified Railroads, utilizing Catenary Wires and Electric Locomotives that use said catenary wires. The MountainRoad is loosely based on the Real World Milwaukee Road. The ShadowStone Railway is a Class 2 Regional Railway company with only 3/5th’s the length of the MountainRoad (which is a Class 1 Railroad Company btw), but it is still the MountainRoad’s leading competitor up in the Crotoonian Mountains, but also it’s biggest business partner. Both rely on each others rails to do their business, so they often work together. Zoug, an electric locomotive (based off the Oregon Electric 72-Tonner SteepleCab) works for the ShadowStone Railway, and he interacts often with Locomotives from the Mountain Road, Especially Arlo (who is based off the MIWL EF-3 BoxCab locomotive (with MIWL standing for Milwaukee Road)).

All of the cabooses on the Westburg, Bardington, and Mountain Railroad (or just The Mountain Road) are Bay Window Cabooses or Transfer Cabooses and not the Standard or Cupola Caboose like Katy or most other stereotypical cabooses. Also, the Mountain Road is roughly based off the Real-World Milwaukee Road (minus the Failure, De-electrification, and awful management). And they try their hardest not to have moments like This. Besides, it's dangerous up in the mountains (especially on the ShadowStone Pass (a rail line jointly owned by The Mountain Road and the ShadowStone Railway).

I'd really like to see a remastered version of this where they reuse the old animation and add extra animation and replace the old rigs.

I have created a List of OC’s exclusively for the Railways of Cartoonia series (the animated one). First there is Dugard, a MILW EF-1 BoxCab locomotive. There is Zoug, an Oregon Electric 72-Tonner SteepleCab. There’s Bradly, a MILW EP-3 (Quill) Locomotive. There Is Al, who *WAS* a MILW EF-2 (he died by the way). There’s Arlo, a MILW EF-3. There is Atlas, a MILW EF-4 Little Joe Locomotive. There’s also Baylor, a MILW EF-5. Then there is Mitchel & Marcus, 2 CN Z-1-A BoxCab’s. Lastly, there is Reynold, the MILW ES-2. All of them Electric Locomotives. All of them (except one) works for a special Railroad called The MountainRoad (full name is the Westburg, Bardington, & Mountain Railroad). It connects up with other smaller Short-line railroads high up in the mountains of Cartoonia. One of the Short-Line railroads is the ShadowStone Railway (which technically isn’t a shortline, but rather a Class 2 Railroad that has roughly 3/5’s of the MountainRoad’s length and is the one true competitor to the MountainRoad), which is the Railway Zoug works for. There is a Town called Fort ShadowStone, there is a Mountain called Mt.ShadowStone, and there is the ShadowStone Range, and the ShadowStone Pass. It was on the ShadowStone pass that Poor Ascending Al, as he was nicknamed, fell down the mountain side. The Ground beneath the rails became unstable due to the heavy Autumn Wind & Rain. The Ground gave way as Al was riding over it with his train, and He, His Engineer, most of his engine crew, and his train all fell down the steep cliff into the river valley below. The only member of Al’s train crew that survived was the Conductor who was stationed in the Caboose at the end of the train. He jumped out right before Al & the whole train plunged into the darkness below. There is a bride at the place where the ground gave way. And the location of the bridge is named Al’s Decent. Al’s Demise was a great Shock to basically all the Electric Engines of the MountainRoad. There had never been an accident like that before on the ShadowStone Pass. Arlo was especially HardHit as he had developed a Brotherly Bond with Al, and now his closest friend and coworker was gone. Al’s remains, and the remains of his train are still at the bottom of the deep chasm from which he fell, for it is impossible to retrieve his mangled husk from the sharp jagged rocks of the valley below. Whenever engines now have to go through the ShadowStone Pass, they are advised not to look down while going over the bridge at Al’s Decent, for if they looked down into the gorge, they would see a truly horrific sight for any Locomotive. The ShadowStone pass is basically dangerous Year round. During the Spring & Summer months, Ice melt from the snowy peaks loosens rocks and causes avalanches and rockslides. During the Autumn months, There are severe Rain, Wind, and Thunder Storms, and during the Winter Season, Blizzards blind Train Crews & Locomotives, and huge snow drifts block the lines. The only reason the ShadowStone pass is still used is because of the lucrative Coal Mines of the ShadowStone pass, and the fact that the ShadowStone pass is the only connection between the towns high up in the mountains and the rest of the world. Also, do note that the MountainRoad and all the other Short Line Railroads up in the Mountains are not a part of the Crotoonia United Rail company, so they don’t have to listen to the 2D Anthropomorphic Cartoon Duck. Instead, they are their own individual private companies. Though the MountainRoad does sometimes allow Crotoonian Trains to run on some parts of their Rails. The MountainRoad is mostly based off the Real World Milwaukee Road (minus the Bankruptcy’s, Poor Executive Management, and hyper dieselisation). The MountainRoad does utilize Diesel Locomotives, but they are mostly rendered to backup power service when their primary power doesn’t work, or to help out on Short Line railroads who don’t have properly electrified lines. Usually, any diesel locomotives seen on the MountainRoad Road are owned by the smaller ShortLine railroads and not the MountainRoad themselves. One last thing. All The Locomotives of the MountainRoad, The ShadowStone Railway, all the other Mountain ShortLine & Narrow Gauge Railroads are meant to be realistic. Meaning no body movements. The only thing that can be shuffled around allot are their eyes and mouths. Their eyes & mouths are the only cartoonish parts of their character in which they can move around, other than that, they are like Thomas & his Friends, moving realistically.
