The only advice I'll give on this game... as you seem to have gotten a handle on most of the rest of it, is that you need to learn to recognize enemy counter attacks. If an enemy is attacking way more than it's supposed to, chances are it's just countering, and you need to find a way around that.

I may recall incorrectly, but I believe now that Marle has a Cure spell you can multi-heal with it but pressing L or R are when selecting a target (a mechanic from my beloved FF VI), which can be helpful if you can't wait for Aura Whirl.

Yeah, sadly your prehistoric trip was premature plotwise. The last plot point before that was Robo saying something like "if we defeat Magus in the Middle Ages, we can change time (as in Lavos won't destroy the world). I think that was the game's hint of where to go next. Hindsight's always 20/20, but that's what I got from analyzing the speech boxes.

The only anime I've really seen is The Record of Lodoss Wars (the first and second ones back when VHS tapes were still a thing) and the Persona movies. I've seen a few episodes of Dragon Balls and One Piece but never gotten into them. I'd rather play/watch games to be honest.

If I member correctly there's a set number of things you need to/not do in order to get the not guilty verdict. Other than finding the girl's cat and not eating the man's lunch, I don't recall what they are. You find him later, but the fastest way to get Silver Points once you have a full party is the to beat up the singing robot over and over again for 10 SP. I was too timid in grade school as well, or I'd pointing out every little thing teachers say that was just fundamentally wrong.

That court scene man. Very shocking programming. Actions having consequences in game is still inconsistent even today. I’m surprised you got not guilty. You got games that sneak it in, others that have to have text that it’ll have consequences, and others that fail to have them meaningfully

I think Philemon removing his mask was just symbolic to everyone becoming their true selves and no longer wearing masks. I think he's not meant to be significant

I find the concept of Sin interesting cause its immortal existence is like recreating the hero’s journey over and over again to essentially reset the world’s peace Legend of Zelda is like that as well with Ganondorf, link and Zelda And the idea of uniting the world against a common enemy is like in Wild Arms 2 with using terrorism to bring about cooperation Giving the world an enemy to blame and hate

"Be Like Water" reminds me of a certain training regime from Game of Thrones :p Also the punk runner with the black mascara reminds me of the mutant girl from the Deadpool movies.

We are in complete agreement about Blitzball. I absolutely hated it. It took away from the game, and served no real purpose. Other than to anger the player. This is why I only played FF10 once.

Whenever i see a tropical setting, i just think of the sweating that must develop from it So I end up cringing seeing overly dressed people next to skimpily dressed ones More so with the designs that do both. Baggy clothes, with revealing openings to them which makes it look like they’re trying to do a middle ground with them

I’ve grown to like the elemental blades Tee-dus/Ty-dus uses. Having the element surrounded by a transparent cover for the blade does look pretty cool to see (Although if the sword wasn’t blue in this case, it would look odd, waving a transparent sword around)

Do you hear a distinct difference in music quality with your PC or PS5 if you have one when playing games? I don’t mean high quality speakers or whatever, I mean if sounds coming out of the console or PC (ok speakers there) does it sound different than say a game from the GameCube or Xbox?

I think I can credit this game for being one of the first ones to have the main character come out and say and acknowledge that they are fighting not to mainly save the world but simply to protect what’s important to them, but it happens to end up saving everyone And over the years, this mindset is varied and warped depending on the writing.

Diamond weapon has a pretty sick design. Shame it wasn’t a bigger part of the plot Remake could do more

So to emphasize Cloud regaining his identity after going thru that psychological inner mind ordeal, the game adds in bits of him acting like a shoenen anime protagonist, speaking a bit nervously and kinder. He’s not being overly energetic in his dialogue, but just more social Shown the most in that submarine where he’s being all claustrophobic and having to read a Manual to pilot it I think it’s a bit much, but for the sake of character arc development and all that jazz, sure it’s fine I imagine the remake may take it up a few more notches, different lines after victory, and maybe some different stances to emphasize the change. And a change in tone for dialogue.

Is this Co-op or SP ?

If Aerith is to die again, I think cloud being the one to do it would be the more impactful, that’s what was originally going to happen after all Also side note, the angle aerith was at with the light shining down made me think she was incased in ice and cloud was gonna break her out of it
