Introducing the Sequential Trigon-6

It’s a sound that bridges genres and styles - now refined and redefined with Sequential’s own modern imprint. The Trigon-6 shares the same critically acclaimed knob-per-function panel design and form factor as Sequential’s Prophet-6 and OB-6 - ...

The build quality and support of Sequential is abysmal. Last week I spent over 2,400 francs on an OB6. When I unpacked it, I noticed that half of the pots were wobbling a lot. especially the cutoff. I took it back to the shop and complained, the shop owner also said that it was defective and he contacted sequential for a repair. Sequential promptly wrote back to him, saying that it was completely normal. czcams.com/video/NAIAocIxQtc/video.html The shop owner then contacted me by phone and said that he would have the OB6 repaired at his own expense and that I could pick it up next week. The same problem often arises when doing some research on the internet. I will never buy a Sequential product again in my life and I will advise against it for as long as I breathe. There are more than enough alternatives that are cheaper, sound equally good and where the customer is not ripped off and treated like dirt.

In a small, dimly lit workshop filled with the hum of synthesizers and the glow of computer screens, a young musician named Carson Day was deep in thought. He had recently inherited this space from his mentor, the legendary Dave Smith. Carson often felt a strange sense of familiarity and inspiration when he worked here, as if the spirit of Smith himself was guiding his hands. One night, as Carson tweaked the settings on a vintage Prophet-5 synthesizer, he noticed something unusual. The machine began to emit a series of tones that seemed almost communicative, like a language he couldn't quite understand. Intrigued, he recorded the sounds and played them back, experimenting with different sequences and rhythms. The more he played, the more it felt as if the synthesizer was leading him towards something profound. Meanwhile, across town, an old friend of Dave Smith, a spiritualist named Maya, had been meditating on the concept of the universal mind. She believed that great minds like Smith's never truly left the world; instead, their essence lingered, influencing those receptive to their energy. Maya had been sensing a powerful presence lately, something that felt unmistakably like Dave. Driven by a hunch, Maya visited Carson's workshop. As she entered, the air seemed to thrum with energy. Carson greeted her, surprised but welcoming. He explained the strange occurrences with the synthesizer. Maya listened intently, her eyes widening with realization. "Carson," she said softly, "I believe Dave Smith is trying to communicate through you. His essence, his creative spirit, has found a way to manifest in this world again. You are the vessel for his return." Skeptical but intrigued, Carson allowed Maya to guide him through a series of meditative exercises. As they meditated, the room seemed to pulse with a life of its own. The synthesizer's tones grew more complex, weaving together in a symphony that felt both ancient and new. Suddenly, Carson felt a rush of memories and emotions that were not his own. He saw flashes of Dave Smith's life: the creation of the Prophet-5, the birth of MIDI, and countless moments of innovation and inspiration. It was as if Dave himself was there, guiding Carson's thoughts and actions. Over the next few weeks, Carson and Maya worked tirelessly, translating the messages from the synthesizer into a new kind of music. It was unlike anything the world had heard before, a fusion of past and future, carrying the unmistakable imprint of Dave Smith's genius. Word of their work spread quickly. Musicians and producers from around the globe flocked to Carson's workshop, eager to witness this extraordinary phenomenon. They, too, felt the presence of Dave Smith in the music, a testament to the enduring power of his creative spirit. Through Carson, Dave Smith had indeed returned, not as a ghost or a memory, but as a living force, shaping the future of music once more. The universal mind had woven their essences together, proving that true creativity transcends the boundaries of life and death.

The announcement that the X is being discontinued finally prompted me to order one. Looking back it's sad that 8dio didn't live up to the promise of this instrument, with only a very limited range of sample banks available for it on their site. No doubt the numbers didn't make it worthwhile for them to do so.

This is an incredibly powerful rhythmic instrument. Thinking of it as a “drum machine” is a mindset that can limit one to the past. This is beyond the LinnDrum and beyond the mechanistic lifeless realities of conventional “drum-machines” because this is a performance-oriented realtime rhythmic instrument. I am appreciating the Tempest more and more.
