If you could smell it from your mask, the elevator is just bad.

The property is huge.. it dates back to the time when motels were hot. Howard Johnson's were being built everywhere. Back in the days elevators were pretty much nonexistent in the design and construction phase. This elevator was built in-between two buildings. The main building has 3 floors and the back building has 3 floors, but because they were already constructed - they don't exactly meetup at the same levels. Hence the reason why the car opens on different sides at different heights. It's not completely as bazar as it seems.

0:41 Actually, you don’t need a keycard to go to a guest floor, but you must start on a floor that is in between 10 and 45. However, regardless what floor you start at, a keycard is required for 46-49. It is unknown if you need a keycard for 48, which is The View Restaurant.

At least he didn't say anything about filming but only for going on that floor I don't think.

Btw, there’s an Entrance elevator that is a Schindler HT by Neiman Marcus as well that leads more towards the Back Bay Orange Line and Commuter Rail station. It’s from 2016 and it’s actually pretty solid.

You think this thing is bad? Ride the Westy by Neiman Marcus & the Westin! That one is WORSE than this thing. This one is a luxury elevator compared to that one.

Also I think KONE maintains these if there are those barriers, sometimes elevators are maintained by other companies than the one that installed it. Also, a 3300 would be better here

This elevator was installed in 1971 when the hotel itself became a year-round resort.

I hate to say it, but this mod was actually needed. These elevators broke very often when they were my conic 10. I remember staying at this hotel in 2017 of February, on the 42nd floor and I actually had to use the service elevators because the main elevators were broken. Returned 2 years later in 2019, i didnt stay here, but I had an epic fail trying to get to 45. So yeah. But these things are good now

As far as I am concerned, I think Schindler is responsible for the mod
