    I was 13 when this happened and was in my 40’s when the families finally got the verdict of unlawful death. Unbelievable that it took so long.

    What a rotten time for that force, Middup, Wright, Duckenfield and Bettison (who had the callousness to write a book of lies exonerating his colleagues) not forgetting Pattinson and Thatcher and coroner Popper who were all in collusion. JFT97

    What you have to remember is that back in the 19 80's all football fans were treated as potential. Hooligans , so we were all treated the same , hearded into pens treated like animals . The police and the football authorities looked on us as Hooligans . How David Duckrnfield has lived with himself all these years is baffling, 97 deaths on his hands

    I'm sure some of them weren't great and there might be some merit. But to say ALL of them were drunk hooligans is so disingenuous. It is at the end of the day the responsibility of the event organisers to ensure that OHS is met and they failed badly.

  • @ashleylovestennis6476

    Liverpool fans were the worst behaved fans and known as hooligans. However I think the main mistakes were Not playing the match at a bigger capacity ground such as old trafford Giving the bigger fan base the smaller capacity end Not delaying the kick off when 5000 fans were delayed getting in by kick off Fans arriving too late Police or stewards not directing fans to the empty pens Only allowing two ambulances onto the pitch Not having open gates on the side of the pens to filter fans away from the crowded pens

    What has been made evident is that Peter Wright and Paul Middup are total bullshitters. Back in that era stadiums were considered deathtraps people don't want to go to be involved in a deathtrap they go to watch a decent game of football that should be the police responsibility

  • @amydavis4945
    @amydavis4945 Před 2 lety

    "If people would just remain orderly, then we wouldn't have this happen, would we?" .... Uhhh, isn't it YOUR JOB as the police to KEEP people being orderly so things like this don't happen? How about AFTER the crush, when there were so many police just standing around WATCHING as civilians were carrying injured out on stretchers... helping people get out of the crush, and actually rendering aid. Why weren't the police doing anything THEN?
