"Slice.. or Push-Fade."
zhlédnutí 341Před 19 hodinami
In this video, I analyze a golfer's swing and determine that they are actually hitting a push-fade, not a slice. I break down the technical aspects of the swing, including grip, stance, and wrist movement, and provide clear and actionable tips for improvement. By the end of the video, viewers will have a better understanding of the difference between a slice and a push-fade, and they will be ab...

Most golfers use the same swing for every club in their bag, which is a fundamental flaw. This is because the ball position and the use of a tee with longer clubs require a modified swing. The video focuses on the driver specifically, explaining how the ball position leads to an open stance and an incorrect swing path. The solution is to adopt a slightly closed clubface at address and then squa...

Don't try this in the garden🪟
Nice, simple analysis. I think clean and clear explanations like this are much easier for those who are struggling with basic concepts to retain and put into action.
This advice helps me to shorten my swing a bit. As long as I'm getting a good early shoulder turn and hinge, there's no need for an excessively long backswing or arm lifting! "Like a lid on a cylinder" -- well put
I think Jacklin used the Ping A Blade not the Ping Anser ?
Thanks Geoff. You may indeed be right. ⛳️
Well said.
Great reference to Trump with erroneous turn!
Short, sweet, and not too overly explained. Thanks!
Way too many golf coaches on CZcams.
Thanks. It does rather seem so. In my defense, I posted my first hundred instruction videos to CZcams over a decade ago and at that time, I couldn’t find any others. ⛳️
@@britgolfdad understood. Keep up the good work. Have a great week! ⛳️
Would you say you’re initiating the downswing with the left arm or is your lower body throwing the left arm through? Thx for the video.
Thanks Travis. The arms and club are pulled down a spiral for the first half of the downswing by the legs and hips. Then the accumulated power is released through the ball with both arms extended as they act like a giant windshield wiper blade, remaining extended and on plane (the windshield) until about knee high on the follow through. All this while heaping the head, acting as a counter balance, to the right of (“behind”) the ball. ⛳️
Is this why a lot of the classical players like Bobby Jones, Sam Snead, Ben Hogan, etc... speak on bringing the clubhead low to the ground for as long as possible without swaying the head off the ball? Wouldn't this help develope a natural and consistent motion for proper turning?
Thanks Joshua. Yes, but particularly with Hogan, he didn't rely just on that. He also advocated ensuring that the shoulder-turn, and not just the wrists, initiated the backswing. ⛳
@@britgolfdad Thank you so much for your incite!
Easily, the most articulate golf instructor on CZcams.
Bias? Do you have a video explaining ‘bias’?
This a great explanation. Totally useful. Thank you Dad.
I just realized I may have had a lesson from you back in the mid nineties in Rocklin, ca., is that possible ?
Thanks. Jacky. It’s entirely possible, at the driving range on Granite Drive. ⛳️
@@britgolfdad That’s it. I thought you looked familiar. I’ve been watching most of your videos and I have to say it’s really nice to see sound golf instruction for a change. Keep up the good work.
You Remind me of Henrey Cotton. Train those hands!
Thanks Darrin. That’s a kind remark. Henry Cotton was a big inspiration to me when zi entered the profession. ⛳️
True story
I have a sincere question Sir. Most of the time I do not remember that I keep my eyes on the ball. Balls are going 80% great. In backswing my eyeline tilted towards the trailing right side because of my head turn as well. So, keeping the eyes on the ball particularly in downswing is something I do not remember at all. I feel like it is restrictive. My head is anyway down in downswing which I do not prefer as well. Could you please comment on keeping the eyes on the ball subject? Thank you.
Thanks Ufuk, Jack Nicklaus recognised in "Golf my Way" that a perfect line of sight, particularly with the usually dominant right eye, was unrealistic and counterproductive in pursuit of a complete and proper turn. So he would turn his left ear as if listening to the ball, just before beginning his backswing. Regarding your head-tilt... Lanny Watkins, a PGA champion, performed very successfully with his right ear tilted down. I suggest that "head still" is more valuable than "eye on the ball." Practice swing with your shadow in front of your right foot and develop a consistent motion, brushing the grass in front of your face, keeping your head still. ⛳
@@britgolfdad Thank you, Sir. So, staying more central with my head (still) in backswing is something I should put into practice, correct?
Great demonstration Sir.
Great demonstration. Thank you Sir. I am using too much the right trailing hand, particularly for short game. Now, I do almost not use my right hand which is very passive on the grip. Any other suggestions? Thanks.
Would you say when you have waiter's tray position, the club is parallel to the target? or not necessarily? My club is sligthly towards the left of target. Thanks.
Slightly left is totally acceptable. ⛳️
Great analysis. In your opinion, do you believe that you have to keep your eye on the ball in backswing? Thanks.
Love his sequencing.
Far more important than the back swing, yet everyone is obsessed with the back swing teaching positions. If you can't get the follow through correct you can't release the club correctly .
Yes, true. There is also little talk for downswing. How the downswing starts is still something that seems to me not clear.
Really nice swing and great analysis! Thank you! Your guidance will assist lots of us!!
Really good analysis. Never seen it explained that way before.
Very smart attain sir, I'm a senior from England, one of my fellow golfers in our senior team, wears plus four with waistcoat and tie.
Thank you Richy. It’s great to know that there are golfers around the world upholding some of the old traditions. Watch for my discussions of elements of technique from the most influential golf books. ⛳️
First time I see someone wearing a tie during the golf swing ;) On subject, do you think there is a side bend element in the backswing?
Thanks. I wear a tie out of respect for the traditions of the game and my profession. To your question.. yes, symmetry is not the ideal in golf. When the left arm is properly ‘biased’ the tailbone is subtly nearer the left heel and the head is set slightly ‘behind’ the ball. ⛳️
Great conversation and lesson 👌
Excellent!
Great tip, Great view. Have a good day man
Genius! Old school teaching is the best. 👍🏻✌🏼
Then Sploosh!
I really enjoy your respectful, dignified, and cerebral approach to golf instruction.
Good observation on Hogan’s elbow philosophy.
Great videos.

Interesting
I'll be trying that out soon. I also have occasionally had the same problem.
Thanks. It’s like a title of a poem or short story, which are conventionally written with quote marks. Longer works are titled in italics. ⛳️
Well said, I have met Jeffery a few times and thoroughly enjoyed his company. He has a warmth about him that is intoxicating. I would best describe him as being a man who listens to what you have to say, will offer you his help at the drop of a pin and encourage you to be the best that you can be…. That is the mark of a class human being.
Lovely dog 😀
Great advice and drill, gonna try this later
Bravo for the dress code. We can learn so much from gentleman like this with life experience. Respect Sir...
I never see the ball when I swing, only when I put the club behind the ball. I basically started doing that to avoid a hit impulse and doing it for years
"Left Foot High" - That's a nice, simple point to remember when hitting up a hill. Thanks for this!
Love this tip!
Good insights and analysis. I always heard that Jack said you can't release too soon. Pretty much the same thing.
Excellent insights as always! I hear the commentators comment on his feet action quite a lot, and I wondered why they think it’s so uncommon, golf has no single acceptable style. I’ve just found your videos recently and they are truly inspiring. Keep doing what you’re doing.
