zhlédnutí 102Před 5 lety
The Tree Hippie Scans. From a series of roughly 1200 auction negatives, these photos are all from San Francisco and the Bay area, they're mostly c. 1970 -'71. The mustache guy is our photographer, and the negatives I have range from about 1970-1995 or so. These photos are the highlights from the first half of the negatives.

My brother
The first and other voice you hear in this clip with John Gabriel is my uncle Walt Peters. When we would see him at family events we would always ask him to say “Sunday at smokin’ US 30 drag strip” and “Sunday Sunday Sunday.” He got just as much of a kick out of saying it as we did listening. He was a radio engineer at WMAQ Chicago radio for many years, but had a great “DJ” voice, so he did some fun things like working with John Gabriel on these commercials, in addition to working behind the scene.
That was the 1st sign of Spring, the drag race commercials came on again. Soon the other signs of Spring would appear, like robins etc.
Sunday Sunday Sunday echo echo reverb
Best prizes ever
That Eddie Schwartz impression was right on.
Kevin's Eddy is so spot on that it is scary. He was a genius level comedy performer. Matt Bisbee made so much of the promo magic happen.
Sunday! Sunday! Sunday!
The hottest show on wheels wheels wheels!
Best listened to before any flight
Screamer commercials!! Remember them well.
RIP Bert and Frank ❤️🤍⚡️✊🏻⚒
Didn't realize that Frank was gone as well, sad news.
The moon shines bright in the desert night The other side of a clear sunlight The other side of a character Comes out to play before the day The devil follows out his plans And makes his work for idle hands Neatly packaged bird has flown The devil takes care of his own Clouds now greeting this aeroplane Tearing across the empty sky A bomb implant in the luggage hold The devil takes care of his own
Kevin Mathews was so funny back then, and still funny listening now. The Loop was so far ahead of it's time. Podcasting before podcasts were a thing.
This actually scared me! Love to Roy!
Omg the memories. Kevin is a Genius. This is a time machine to my teens. Damn.
"SUNDAY! BEAUTIFUL Sunday at US Dragstrip 30 just south of the tar pits! THRILL to the unholy smells and sounds and sight-gags as Captain O-Blivion, two-time Cracked Vertebra Champion, in his plutonium-charged heavy-water-under-glass thresher, goes up against Free Bubba Free B. in his Multinational Banana Consortium funny-car! PLUS! Hundreds of prize doors! PLUS! Chapped lips! PLUS! Blood-mad Brahma bulls released every few seconds in the seating area to stampede crazily through the stands! DON'T YOU DARE BE THERE! MISS IT! *MISS IT!* Sunday, Sunday, SUNDAY!" -- Eric Overmyer, "Native Speech"
What year? 1994?

Holy shit. What a flashback to my 20s in Lincoln Park with all the Trixies!😂😂😂
Yeah but that's not the one from York us30 beautiful here again that must be Gary Indiana
He pretty much did the ads for nearly all of the Chicago area raceways, if it wasn't him, it was an imitator, as he pretty much established the template for these type of spots. It was copied nationwide. US 30 raceway was in Hobart, Indiana.
