I don’t know that much about train classes, but if this type of train is in service between Manchester and Holyhead on SailRail, this is going to be a problem when carrying a heavy suitcase - the current SailRail product offering across the U.K. needs to be completely overhauled, with direct services only from Manchester Victoria only to Holyhead on loco-hauled trains and SailRail needs to be opened to all U.K. TOC’s - these trains need to be timed to meet ferry check-in and arrival timings

Very enjoyable watch. Haven't had the privilege to ride on the 197s yet, but they do look like nice trains. Just hope we won't be hearing of the usual new train problems on them in a few years, if not sooner.

I had a ride between Crewe and Chester on a TfW 197 this week for the first tme and the ride was awful. No comparison with Class 175's. It was bumpy, a harsh ride,noisy dampers and seats weren't very comfortable

Nice train .. I often se the Lumo trains in my local station Newcastle. I was actually there today, but there wasn't a train to be seen, which I thought was a bit strange, but I was actually in a hurry, so just left. I note from the internet that there were serious problems today on the ECML

Yes, you did say that about HS2. I said it as soon as they were talking about building it. My comment was "What a stinking white elephant that's going to be". And as usual, I'm right🤣. I've seen a few train rides, mainly first class, and to be honest, this country stinks where meals are concerned on trains. You should try the Amtrak trains in the US. I travelled on the South West Chief which runs from LA to Chicago (2.5 days). If you book a sleeper, you get your food included, cooked breakfast, and I mean breakfast, not a bacon roll; then you have lunch - choose from a cooked meal or just a snack; and then evening meal, again cooked meal. Its on white table cloth tables and silverware. Amazing. You should try it sometime. Certainly opens your eyes, and the prices are very reasonable. We saved quite a bit by not needing hotel accommodation and car rental. The only downsize on these trains though, they can be late upon arrival. We were four hours late into Chicago. The train was being pulled by 4 x engines, and the first one's computer, which was driving the train, went down around New Mexico, so they had to fly an IT person to us, and he then shut down the first engine, and set up the second engine to push the first engine and pull the rest of the train, which by the way, had around 10 +/- coaches plus 12 wagons which carried freight

HSTs/Class 43s with Mk3 coaches boast luxury and comfort to a standard these so called modern trains can not live up to. Comfort and luxury is no longer existing on railways now sadly.

Love for you to do a Northern Trans Pennine route to Huddersfield one day

Not many places where you can have a 1973 Tube Stock, an S Stock and a 1938 Tube Stock leave from the same platform in quick sucession!! I remember the Piccadilly Line had a very small number of '38's when the 1959 Stock trains were operating, I don't think any made it into Heathrow (apart from on one or two of these museum tourrs!). I know a '59 Stock did (because I was on it!), but not to T4 or T5!!

I’ll be travelling to/from Godalming in a couple of weeks time, leaving actually from Waterloo. It’ll be a Southern rail train hence this question. I was going to buy two advance tickets, but a friend mentioned ‘evening out’ tickets, which are a fair bit cheaper. He is not too sure how they worked though. Do you just buy these on the day of travel, say from a ticket machine or ticket office or do they have to be paid for in advance, like an advance ticket. My firend says they are valid on any train after 12:30 and for any return train .. is this correct ?

I know how you feel about only being able to get a travel card that can only be used, while travelling with someone else. I think the railcard for 25 to 30 years, came out after I was no longer 30 years of age.

An enjoyable video to watch. My wife and I returned home (Newcastle) from Glasgiw, via Edinburgh earlier this week on LNER, also in first class and really enjoyed the experience I am thinking of booking another short break for the end of the year, to Cardiff but it would mean travelling on XCountry which nobody seems to like. We're also heading to London in August, Liverpool in September and Edinburgh in October.

Definitely need a new Southern region route as its getting close to 2 years since the last one A south western who'd be nice electrostar who'd only layer on to the route class 450, 444, 455 and 159, so people can't moan that electrostars are the main trains on the line
