DAF LF CLUTCH REPLACED PART #2
After a bit of a struggle we managed to get the gearbox out today and we got a good look at the clutch and flywheel. Lots of damage to both so we need to return with a flywheel to get the job finished.

DAF LF CLUTCH REPLACED - PART #1
zhlédnutí 2,2KPřed 9 hodinami
Today we finally had chance to get started on the clutch job that we diagnosed before my holiday. We didn't have loads of time so we just got the wiring loom and prop shaft removed ready for when we returned. #truck #trucking #hgv #mechanic #selfemployed #business #repair #work #fypage #fypyoutube
EGR VALVE COMPLETELY BLOCKED - DAF LF PART #2
zhlédnutí 1,3KPřed 12 hodinami
Today I returned to get the EGR job finished and we needed to get it cleaned and refit with new gaskets. Once refit we carried out an exhaust regen to remove any left over carbon in the exhaust system. #truck #trucking #hgv #mechanic #selfemployed #business #repair #work #fypage #fypyoutube
EGR VALVE COMPLETELY BLOCKED! - DAF LF PART #1
zhlédnutí 1,6KPřed 21 hodinou
I had previously taken a quick look at an EGR fault at one of my customers and found that the EGR valve was completely blocked! We needed to remove the EGR valve and other components and get them all cleaned. In this first part I get very wet while removing the EGR! #truck #trucking #hgv #mechanic #selfemployed #business #repair #work #milwaukee #milwaukeetools #soaking #wet #fypage #fypyoutube
MAN TRUCK HORSE BOX NONE STARTER
zhlédnutí 2,8KPřed dnem
Today I had a bit of different one, a horse box! Now I usually don't like working on horse box vehicles as accessibility is usually terrible, but this one wasn't so bad. The owner had broken down on the motorway when her vehicle lost all power and wouldn't start and she needed to be recovered back to her yard. #truck #trucking #hgv #mechanic #selfemployed #business #repair #work #fypage #fypyou...
MAIN DEALERS HAVE CRAZY PARTS PRICES!
zhlédnutí 1,9KPřed dnem
I'm sorry for having a bit of a moan but it really annoys me how crazy the parts prices are at the main dealers. These two EGR gaskets have a slightly different shape but are roughly the same size, so why is it that one costs only £21 while the other costs £93? I just don't understand. #truck #trucking #hgv #mechanic #selfemployed #business #repair #work #fypage #fypyoutube

Hiya pal great vids dont no if you have fitted the box back yet but always change the top and bottom fork bushes and check the push rod hasn't worn on the end and if a genuine clutch the cheap clutches are a nightmare to calibrate. Your always welcome to give me a call for any ZF gearbox advice at Ecodrive transmissions
W cat 😈🔥🔥🗣💯💯
Lovely short story of your local work stray ❤
Don’t look like its never had a new clutch that pal what a nightmare getting it out. Hopefully he gets a new Flywheel for it man looks a bit rough

Hi Arran found this on Amazon have a look you may be able to adapt it put some wheels on it, I could help in many ways good price if it does what it says (Switzerland 500kg repair jack) hope it helps Flipper.
Hi Flipper! 👋 I can’t find it buddy can you send me a link please? 🙏
Good old galvanic corrosion 😬
Exactly mate, what a ball ache! One crusty bell housing! 🔔🏠😂
@@TheSelfEmployedSpannerMonkey plenty of copper slip on mating faces of both bell housings before you wang the box back in, ceramic spray grease is something I’ve recently started using and that’s good stuff too
That is the LFs new party trick ,the box casing and engine casing seize together ..in your position i would lower the jack slightly and leather the output shaft,,,,when up on lifters it is still a 4 letter word but slightly easier to break rust ...I guess ZF or Cummins have changed the recipe for their metal ,as if was never a issue till recently
It was such a ball ache getting that out! I was scared to rock it too much on that flimsy jack to be honest 😂
As much as the 4 stage wheel torque procedure pisses me off at Stagecoach garages it absolutely makes sense when I see this kinda shite pal
Torquing and then retorquing (which is more important) is always overlooked in the industry
I think I should’ve become a truck mechanic, looks much easier 😂
I wanted to be a truck mechanic because there was more room to work, then I have to deal with the absolute ball ache of everything else 😂
Use some wd 40 on the bolts
I did in the end, check out part #2 👍
Not trying to come across as a hater. But why immediately fire up the parts cannon, and fit a starter motor without diagnosis?. Faults on a vehicle need to be diagnosed first.
I agree. I’m a truck mechanic and most trucks have multiple earth cables for the engine and gearbox and they usually have an earth direct to the starter. So when I gave the starter a tap and it started clicking (it wasn’t making any noise previous) I wrongly presumed it would be the starter motor. No harm done as I paid for everything and I’m not expecting my friend to pay anytime soon. He’s happy and I’m happy 😊
Wow famous.. got some suppression matting .. arrived in a waterproof cover..a platic bag 😂, I had distroyed the casters just on a flagged drive, great idea thanks for the clip.... I was working on a van this weekend, the impact driver i was using slipped. and hit e in the mouth .. not the first time .. although this time result a broken front tooth. still finished the job 🤣 My son used the large board trick when he took the engine out of his car.. on a gravel drive.. hoist and enigne was still mobile .. didnt dig in... Great job and keep the videos comming 👍👍
Lol your just like me 😂if there's a plane a truck a car or cat I have to see who is doing what or how 😂😂it's got to be a guy thing😂 love the video on the LF look forward to seeing the next one great job buddy ❤
Yep, if it has an engine I can’t help myself being nosey 😂
content is good but you have to use a tripod if you want more subscribers as its not watchable pity as i enjoyed your video and wanted to watch it all there is occasions that head cam works but bench work etc needed rethinking use tripod
Thank you for the constructive criticism
First class Video mate. Plus the sun is shining ☀️ Get in. You were soaked in part 1 😂
Thanks Steve as always buddy! Yes it was a much warmer dryer day than last! I should have put my big coat on in part 1 but I was already wet and thought screw it 😂
Hi pal new subscriber here great channel keep up the good work look forward to the content
Hi Mark, welcome to the channel and thank you for the kind words buddy 👍
Well done, you are obviously a well experienced Mechanic and made a quick diagnosis. Keep the videos coming I find them very interesting
I will do buddy thank you for the kind words ☺️
Congratulations on the 1000 subs, 10000 next well done mate. Knew you could do it regards, Flipper
Thanks Flipper! I appreciate you buddy, always there with the wise words 👍
You are doing amazing mate always proud of you brother x
Big pat on the back mate. Your channel is growing I know things in business are difficult & changing, stick with it buddy your company will grow along side your you tube. Your a knowledgeable hard working honest Mechanic, watch this space 💪
I was just looking for today's live stream mate as I only caught the back end of it but it doesn't seem to be on your channel 🤔
Sorry Steve I didn’t realise it was set to private 🤦♂️ it’s live now bud 👍
@@TheSelfEmployedSpannerMonkey thanks buddy. 👌
1K subs 💪 congratulations Arran well done buddy 🤝👌
Thanks Steve! ☺️
Do you ever wish you'd picked a different job.... years of DIY car repairs on driveway I feel your pain...
Yes all the time 🤦♂️😂
Result!!, so I hope you charged them call out fee and minimum of 1 hour on site
I’ll make sure they get charged a decent amount 😂
Great vid - as a general rule from DAF when the egr is that blocked it’s clean the egr cooler, we are lucky enough that trucks on contracts only need them removed and the company sends a refurb clean one in so all old bolts are always snapped inside.
I sent the EGR cooler in to be professionally cleaned. It came back much better 👍
Love your videos. You explain things very well. I have no mechanical knowledge but I still find your work fascinating. Thankyou for taking time and effort to upload .
Thank you so much for the kind words! I’m so glad people are enjoying them ☺️
on the XF you can replace the motor seperately which is a pain to change as it is under the dash ..The LF with the Renault cab is a complete linkage ,,the CF is 28 years working on them are bullet proof well after Euro2 i have not seen any changed ..the XF i have seen and done loads
Long time since I've seen one off those grease guns 😮😅
I really want to get the Milwaukee grease gun but I’ve been holding out 😢
Thats a new hub as well ...Heard a banging and suprisingly kept going ..Yes someone as you say either never torqued the wheel or it was not retorqued ..whos fault it is i don't know ,But if the wheel did come off ,i would say driver at fault as he never pulled over when he heard the bang, surely he should have felt something through the steering ..So multiple failings and at the end of the day driver to blame if it fell off ,Afterall he did his checks ? lol
Exactly mate, end of the day the buck stops with the driver. He felt and heard a banging while driving on the motorway and didn’t think to stop!
Great POV video mate were all right there with ya just alot dryer 😂 looking forward to part 2.
It was a lot dryer in the part 2 video trust me 😂 it should be ready for Monday/Tuesday. I got that clutch fit today as well so that video should be ready for next week 👍
@@TheSelfEmployedSpannerMonkey I'm looking forward to the clutch video buddy I've fitted many clutch's but never done one on a HGV so it'll be interesting to see the mechanical differences & engineering design 🤝
@@steve-Eyrethey aren’t fun when your doing it on your back without a lift or a pit! 😅
@@TheSelfEmployedSpannerMonkey I know mate I'm 46 now my lift was a gift to me for all the years spent struggling on the floor 🤣
That pipe you bent out the way at the back of the cooler that goes into the exhaust manifold blocks up aswel
That’s good to know! I did a training course at DAF about 6 years or so ago for the EGR recall and they never mentioned that… I’ll double check that on my return 👍
@@TheSelfEmployedSpannerMonkey it's more common on the 6 cylinder mate but definitely worth checking while you've got it down that far! You can get them to un block with some air pressure and bit of heat on the pipe 🤙
@@TheSelfEmployedSpannerMonkey it's more common on the 6 cylinder mate but definitely worth checking while you've got it down that far! You can get them to un block with some air pressure and bit of heat on the pipe 🤙
How can people be so stupid 😂😂 better for you tho pal 👍
I’ve had a few of these kind of jobs before and I love it! I feel for the driver though 😂
I got stopped by a traffic management flat bed driver the other week & he couldn't fold his tail lift away he never saw the lever to be fair he felt silly & the vehicle was new to him. but it was pitch black & early hrs of the morning bless him.
@@steve-Eyre easy done when you are not familiar with the vehicle or equipment
Just make your own gaskets, much cheaper and even make them better.
I have worked on a horse box once or twice but never on engine though. Always wondered if you could tilt the cab on them (i know it sounds daft)😂
Some of them you can’t and you have some kind of hatch you have to work through 😮💨
Nice vid sorry to Say be careful with the Nappa parts.....they are not good parts... Trouble will be on the way I promise you. Great vid though bud
Yh I’ve learnt the hard way, in the end my supplier swapped for a different make 👍
@@TheSelfEmployedSpannerMonkey Yes mate total shite. Had nothing but trouble with them to be honest. Makes us look like bad techs when we are not and nowt worse than doing twice
I am on my 3rd MITO and the earths on any FIAT ALFA are well known for Earth cable issues and that includes all the vans I think there may be 3 earth straps and they all cause chaos
Not a lot of fun doing horse box’s no space to do anything with them I don’t think anything was wrong with the battery’s it was the alternator what was the problem the batteries are expensive now man you could of save her money 😂😂
Ah yes the good old dobin chariot, most owners of such vehicles usually argue the cost of EVERYTHING to do with truck but will spend unlimited amounts on the 4 legged cargo
I did that a long time ago it was fun why don’t you give it a try one day 😂😂
I’d prefer to fly the plane rather than be strapped to the wing 😂

The green fire engines are known as green goddesses and the nineteen forties to sixties
My god mate you and the struggler need a medal . They don’t make it easy for you lads .
Hi Arran BUBBLESS2004 is right they are known as GREEN GODDES But they where built from 1953 to 56 for the army And used in later years 97 and 2002 firefighters strikes they were two wheel drive or four-wheel-drive depending on their use requirement. Regards, Flipper.
These are Green Goddesses... I think the are 1950..s civil defence vechicles, last time these were used in firemans strike in 2010 .. ish.. no odb2...🤣 en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Green_Goddess
Wouldn't fit nappa parts mate . quality is rubbish will have issues with in 3 months.
