Maybe it's his charming smile, but Schmidt was never a bad dude to me, and I always felt sorry when he would put himself down. Hes not a great womanizer and maybe outside of TV hed be annoying but the character was never a bad guy. He had his principles (and yea him dating two woman at the same time wasnt great) and when he liked someone he was all in. Hes a lovable A goofball who didnt deserve to be treated bad buy a bunch of frat Aholes.

At first they didnt make sense but then the writers took them past their stereotypes and it worked out beautifully.
