New York City had a huge Irish population they still do today but it was really great back in the 30s 40s and 50s and 60s we lived on 3rd avenue near 150th Street before we moved up to Woodlawn which is still Irish today they have meat markets fish markets just like in the old days they fly the American flag with the Irish flag he could walk in these neighborhoods and feel safe today just wonderful the atmosphere alone I like to just go in and oh Irish bar and sit there for a couple hours and talk to some people about the good old days or have a nice hot Irish coffee with a double shot of whiskey in it listen to some old Irish songs on the jukebox makes you feel good all over again 🍀🇨🇮💯🍀🇺🇸💯👍
There were ten recent arrivals from my part of Ireland in the NYC area who served in the U.S. military in the '60s, including 2 brothers. Having been honorably discharged, the brothers returned to Ireland and opened their own business. Fifteen years later, the business failed and one of the veterans tried to come back to the U.S., but he could NOT obtain a visa, even though there were millions of ILLEGAL aliens who would be granted amnesty by President Reagan.
