Recorded July 31, 2024. It's another sunny day in Harbor Springs! After taking the dinghy ashore and grocery shopping, I went for another dip in the anchorage. I decided to look at my anchor, and it was not buried as deeply in the sand as I had supposed. I also took a look at the underside of the boat and at the folding prop.

Recorded July 29, 2024. After anchoring in the harbor I went for a short swim around the boat.

Recorded July 16, 2024. After sailing up Grand Traverse Bay from Elk Rapids, we got to the Charlevoix bridge right at 8:00 p.m. As we entered the marina, the band was playing to announce our arrival.

Recorded July 16, 2024. Sailing up the east side of Grand Traverse Bay, from Elk Rapids to Charlevoix. Wind was about 15 knots out of the northwest, gusting to 20.

Recorded July 9, 2024. A beautiful, gentle sunny day, with a light breeze from the west, at least that's how it started.

Recorded July 8, 2024. The rushing waters create a unique environment for a beautiful public space. I cannot determine the make of the sailboat tied up there with the current rushing past, it must be a trick to maneuver that boat up and down the river, it has all kinds of big eddies in the current and it's very turbulent where she is docked.

Recorded July 6, 2024. We left Arcadia Harbor and sailed north. The wind started out light and then it died.

Recorded July 3, 2024. This got a little tight. Not only is this channel narrower than I expected, the depth meter got down to 4.2 feet at one point due to a sand bar in the channel. The transducer is about a foot under water so we had just over 5 feet, and the boat draws 4 and a half. Sorry about the binnacle console blocking the depth meter during the critical part as we sailed over the sandb...

Recorded July 3, 2024. We sailed from Lake Michigan into Portage Lake through the channel, with Hanna at the wheel.

Recorded July 3, 2024. Another day of south wind, with us headed north. Hanna is learning to steer by the windex.

Recorded June 29, 2024. I failed to account for the current coming down the Manistee River when I tried to pull into a slip. I had to back out and try again, while keeping the dinghy painter out of the water so it didn't get fouled in the prop. Talk about a fun five minutes.

Recorded June 29, 2024. After sailing from Pentwater, we enter Manistee Harbor. It was late in the day, starting to get more windy, and the waves were getting bigger, so just in time.

Recorded June 29, 2024. The wind is bang out of the south, and we are headed north past Big Sable Point. My boat is pretty squirrelly downwind, so I have to play close attention to the helm.
