Biking the Going to the Sun Road
Every year, prior to opening the Going to the Sun Road to vehicular traffic, there is a small window of opportunity to ride a bike up to Logan Pass. I finally took advantage of that opportunity.

      Thanks for sharing your input, it’s been almost a year since moving back to Montana and we couldn’t be happier with our decision. We’re grateful for the memories and experiences we had in Arkansas, but missed the lifestyle of living in the Rocky Mountains. The northwest is expensive, but if we can sustain keeping a roof over our head whether we rent or buy, it’s worth it for the privilege to call Montana home.

    I've lived in Arkansas for 29 years, and am what southerners would call a "damned yankee", as I'm someone who moved to Arkansas from up north and chose to stay. I spent most of my time with a career in South Arkansas, not an easy feat, as careers there are not as common as you would hope, and they don't always pay as well. I now live in northern Arkansas, and am very happy in my retirement. I've discovered that Arkansas is two distinct places, and maybe even three. The southern part of the state is still in the past, and my experience was that it is poor, repressed, and can be quite unsettled and racist. It is also quite poor and the crime levels can be quite high. Northern Arkansas is conservative and a much larger percentage of the population is white, something I was not used to 'down south'. It actually surprised me how few in this area are not white. Crime is less, and there are retirees everywhere, from almost every state in the country. Then there is central Arkansas, which is dominated by Little Rock, one of the worse cities for crime in the country. I go thru Little Rock still about 1-2 times a year, but typically never stop. Why did I stay? Because in spite of the things I mentioned above, it's a beautiful state, and the good people make up for the bad. And northern Arkansas has much of what I was looking for as a retirement area, and the folks here are even nicer and the cities cleaner and doing good business, with very few that are shut down. I'd say the economy here is as good as you will find in the mid-south. It's home now. Oh, and the cost of living here is another great thing about it.

      We ended up moving back to Montana. Our experience in Northwest Arkansas wasn’t bad, it simply didn’t work out for us because we really missed the quality of life in Montana. We really enjoyed the biking and vibe of Bentonville, but missed the snow and more mild summers. Despite growing up in Florida, I was not prepared to endure the heat and humidity after being in the Northwest for over a decade. Arkansas is a beautiful state and we enjoyed some great experiences there. I’m grateful for the time we spent there. If you want a more detailed explanation, I will link a video where I reflect on our departure from Arkansas. czcams.com/video/L_4tMQgh7Ck/video.htmlsi=xMfJJGnbkdnOa5Zh

      So, you worked in South Arkansas, but not Northern Arkansas, and are critical of where you made your living. If you were viewed as a “damned Yankee”, it was probably your attitude.SE Arkansas is closer to Louisiana and the further South you go, the hospitality still exists.

    • @EGlideKid
      @EGlideKid Před 7 dny

      @@LorenzoMagnesium-cu8pr Ha ha. You speak of that which you do not know, Lorenzo. If you lived there, you would know that term can be one they would give to Yankees in general. Or, they say it to joke with you. The fact is, many southerners and not just South Arkansans refer to most of us northerners as 'damn yankees', if you are a yankee who came to south arkansas and decided to make it your home. It is not usually a derogative term, and in my case it wasn't used that way. You are in error, friend, as I did not speak any lies in my words. I am, however, critical of real racism and poverty and lack of jobs, and keeping poor people poor. The fact of the matter is, during my many years down there, I had a great deal of affection for many I came to know and I am still friends with many of the people who worked for me, and I found so many of them are wonderful people I'm sorry if I did not make that plain enough for your brain to grasp, it's just that I didn't want to go into more detail for folks that have trouble picking up on things, such as yourself. Yes, the hospitality is wonderful in south Arkansas, and most people with any education realize that "Arkansas is closer to Louisiana", but closer than what? Minnesota? That was deep, sir. My question for you is, have you ever lived there, or were you just trolling?

      I wouldn’t be able to give you an accurate quote from our install because it was my brother that did the job and we used a friends’ shop, so I didn’t pay for labor. Furthermore, we goofed off a lot and didn’t have all the necessary parts at time of install, so calculating an accurate time frame for the install would be difficult. My best guess, I believe it’s a 2-3 hour install and shops charge a labor rate typically between $110-$160 an hour. If you go to the dealership, I have heard they do OEM installs around $1400 with parts and labor, though that price may vary. Good luck!

    Religion is the worship of God, the way He wants to be worshiped. Saint Thomas Aquinas, Catechism of the Summa Theologica: “The virtue of religion (so-called because it constitutes the bond par excellence which unites man to God, who is the source of all man's good) is a perfection of the will inclining man to acknowledge, as it behoves, his absolute dependence upon God, who is the first beginning and the last end of all.” “Every act which, of itself, makes man recognize his dependence upon God is the proper object of the virtue of religion. But this virtue may ordain to this same end all the acts of the other virtues,; and in this case it makes the whole of man's life an act of worship of God.” “The first interior act of religion is called devotion. Man's first act in the service of God is prayer. .. The form of prayer par excellence of this kind which is called the “Our Father” or the Lord's prayer... We may pray to creatures, angels and saints, to intercede for us before God. Of course we follow what God has ordained toward religion and not what man has ordained. One can not have a relationship with God if he does not except what Jesus Christ revealed to us about God. If someone has a false opinion about God, he cannot worship the true God. St. Thomas in his Summa Theologica, II, II. He says: “Now, man is more than ever separated from God by unbelief because he has not even true knowledge of God, and by a false knowledge of God man does not approach Him, but is severed from Him, nor is it possible for one who has a false opinion of God to know Him in any way at all because the object of His opinion is not God.” What God has ordained is found in the written word as well as the spoken word or traditions of the Church, the one Church which Christ founded on St. Peter who is the rock. Galatians 1:8-9 “But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach a gospel to you besides that which we have preached to you, let him be anathema. As we said before, so now I say again: If anyone preach to you a gospel, besides that which you have received, let him be anathema.” 2 Thessalonians - "Therefore, brethren, stand fast; and hold the traditions which you have learned, whether by word, or by our epistle." go to VaticanCatholic.com

    "For the invisible things of him, from the creation of the world, are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made; his eternal power also, and divinity: so that they are inexcusable." [Romans 1:20] This is how we know God exists but in order to have a relationship with Him, we need to follow the teachings of Christ in all things. And being in the mountains and forests reminds us of this if we are wise. God controls and governs all: "But thy providence, O Father, governeth it: for thou hast made a way even in the sea, and a most sure path among the waves," [Wisdom 14:3] Jesus Christ created one Church that He established on Peter in the Gospel and the Bible teaches the Catholic faith and no other. All other false sects reject some parts of the Gospel or most parts. They rely on their own fallible interpretation of Scripture and not on the protection that Christ gave His one true Church the Catholic Church in the Gospel. If your truth lies within you, that is not truth. Jesus said I am the way, the truth, and the life. And the Bible tells us where this deposit of truth lies in the Church! 1 Timothy 3:15: "..THE CHURCH of the living God, the PILLAR AND GROUND OF THE TRUTH" This is why Jesus Christ said in Matthew 18:17 -“And if he will not HEAR THE CHURCH, let him be to thee as the heathen and publican.” You are NOT God and are subject to the lies of the devil which will guide you if you don’t hear the Church. Notice that Jesus said, if a man does not hear the Church, he is to be treated as the heathen and the Gospel also says that the gods of the heathen are devils. 1 Cor. 10:20- “But the things which the heathens sacrifice, they sacrifice to devils, and not to God. And I would not that you should be made partakers with devils.” Psalms 95:5- “For all the gods of the Gentiles are devils…” Also, that the wisdom of God is made known “through the Church” and His glory is in the Church. Therefore, the wisdom of God is in the Church and those who refuse to hear the Church are outside the Church; are heathens, and worship devils. Ephesians 3: 10 “That the manifold wisdom of God may be made known to the principalities and powers in heavenly places through the Church.” Ephesians 3: 21 “To Him be glory in the Church and in Christ Jesus unto all generations world without end. Amen.” Jesus never said to just listen to God’s voice in you!! In fact, Scripture warns about private interpretation in 2 Peter. 2 Peter 1:20-21 - “Understanding this first: that no prophecy of scripture is made by private interpretation. For prophecy came not by the will of man at any time: but the holy men of God spoke, inspired by the Holy Ghost.” The Church that Jesus talks about is that clearly set up in Matt. 16:18-19 and else where. Rome was the center of the leadership of the Church for 20 centuries and the Church was called Catholic in 110 A.D. by St. Ignatius, bishop of Antioch and pupil of St. John of the Gospel, outside of which there is no salvation as has been taught by the Church of Christ for over 20 centuries. The Vatican II Sect in Rome is NOT the Catholic Church. That is a fact! endtimes.video/apocalypse-now-in-the-vatican/ If you care about your soul, you need to convert to the Catholic faith; the only true faith of Christ. Go to VaticanCatholic.com and learn the true faith to save souls.
