Go Public: A Day in the Life of PUSD will be a film and website depicting one entire day in the Pasadena Unified School District from many different perspectives. Pasadena is a racially and economically diverse community in Southern California with 28 public school campuses. Go Public will tell the story of one full day from sun up to long after sun down. This film will provide a window into the world of one urban school district, the many dedicated people, the myriad of opportunities available and the complexity of serving the needs of all students.

Some kid was a sick at school, and his grandma couldn't pick him up so the hospital did, and I laughed because he said "fuck you" at a kid and flipped him off in the bed as he was wheeled out. Then some kid yelled at me for doing so. Then I got emo for a day. Then I was fine.
When I was about fifteen studying for my CNA and in the 11th grade, I had to get it done at a "tech school" that only offered CNA classes. In reality, it was an alternative school that just happened to have CNA classes. I thought I'd be scared shitless because I'd be exposed to 17-19 year old "delinquents", but the kids there were actually quite nice so long as they were properly supervised...they just had tough home lives. And I will tell you schools like this save these kids' lives.
