Orlando Bloom was in a number of truly epic movies. Lord of the Rings, The Hobbit Trilogy, Pirates of the Caribean, Kingdom of Heaven. He is a bit of an over actor IMO, but he did well in all of them. More power to him for being lucky enough to have been selected to the movies that started him out.
The only reason i can think of isn t luck, he must be very kind on set and easy to work with.
I think Orlando suits better in historic or mythology movies. Also Troy...

I love this film, but there are clear absurdities. It is absolutely ridiculous that a rural European blacksmith would know more about horse taming than middle eastern men who are renowned throughout history for their equestrian skills. It’s like the scene where Balian suggests the “Star fort” to King Baldwin because you can “fire” on attackers from multiple sides. The star fort was invented hundreds of years after the crusades, and there were no guns, so they would not have “fired” on anything. Nevertheless, I’ll suspend my disbelief and enjoy the brilliant filmmaking (just not the historicity).
i mean he did say in the early parts of the film that he fought in a war as a horseman, aka cavalry. A blacksmith must also know how to work with horses because they're the ones who makes and puts horseshoes on horses.
Horses back in the day are like sports cars not everyone can had or maintained one and yes I know Arabs have a tradition of horses but still that is like if we say everyone in Texas know how to risa and tame a horse

This scene is such a fantastic example of Show Don't Tell. They don't specifically SAY that elves are heckin strong, but they SHOW Legolas grabbing these orcs and smacking them around. And when Legolas bleeds, it shows both that this particular orc is actually a threat because that is something that we have NEVER seen onscreen before, but it also shows newer fans that elves aren't SUPPOSED to bleed because he looks so confused. Ace writing!

It actually makes a lot of sense. He has worked his whole life as a blacksmith and also have fought in war as a horseman. As a blacksmith, it is crucial to understand the horse and learn how to control them. Otherwise, you can never put their horseshoes on. Same goes for horseman as well.

This is not a historic film, this is fantasy
What is film if not life with the dull bits cut out, the real story is not as interesting so we dwell in fantasy to remember it.
@@theterribleanimator1793 you would not be saying that if you knew more about the actual history of this period in Europe and the Middle East. The real story is much more interesting, the aesthetics were much more beautiful. This world was full of colour and character, Ridley has made a boring brown and grey fiction and has bastardised the history of the actual crusades. There was much more nuance to the real story.
@@Scoob505 Oh, im sure it was more nuanced, it is real life. The question is, how much of that nuance can be presented in a film that is less than 10 hours long and is coherent all the way through. I'd say you cant without bastardizing the souce material, so you either use fantasy to create a film that inspires others to read the source, or create a mediocre film that does not. Besides, you dont go to film for nuance, you read books.
@@theterribleanimator1793 the issue is not time here, the film could very easily have portrayed the colour and wealth of medieval france accurately, and it would have looked much more interesting and vibrant. The film could have shown what knights actually looked like back then, which look a lot better than how it was portrayed. The film also completely lies about the justification for the crusades, making the Crusasders out to be evil and the muslims out to be the good guys, it completely shits on the actual history. You don't need more than 2 hours to portray these things in a film, it is just laziness and injecting current day politics into a film claiming to depict the 14th century.
