10:14 The Princess Bride (1987)
The 80s gave us some truly unforgettable fantasy films.
"Legend" (1985), Ridley Scott's visually stunning dark fantasy starring Tom Cruise. It's a tale of good versus evil set in an enchanted forest that showcases some of the decade's best practical effects and one of its most memorable villains.
"The NeverEnding Story" (1984) transports us to the magical world of Fantasia. This film captures the wonder of childhood imagination and the power of storytelling.
Jim Henson's "The Dark Crystal" (1982) pushed the boundaries of puppetry and fantasy worldbuilding. Its unique style and Tolkienesque lore created a truly alien yet believable fantasy realm.
"Labyrinth" (1986), another Henson masterpiece, combines music, fantasy, and David Bowie's charismatic performance as the Goblin King. It's a coming-of-age story wrapped in a fantastical adventure.
"The Princess Bride" (1987), a witty and heartfelt tale that balances romance, adventure, and comedy. Its quotable lines and memorable characters have made it a lasting favorite.

All childhood favourites (except Legend which I still need to see) and especially love to see The Dark Crystal up there! In case you haven't seen any of the following 80s fantasy flicks, I would highly recommend checking them out: Excalibur (1981), Son of the White Mare (1981), Conan the Barbarian (1982), Fire and Ice (1983), Heroic Times (1984), Ladyhawke (1985), and Willow (1988). Happy viewing and look forward to your next video 😊

Regarding Bladerunner, you forgot to mention the writer whose short story this is based on: Philip K. Dick, he has been the author of (or inspiration for) about half to three quarters of the best SF movies made.

blade runner never got me...boring plot. plot totally unrelated to sci fi. only sci fi thing there is environment and that's all. it's like watching time machine used to turn back in time to grocery store before the closing time...and that's all. nothing more. no time paradoxes, no plot twist. nothing. you get your grocery. thanks time machine. nothing more.

Repo Man = Best. Movie. Ever. Of course I’m kidding, but I saw it in the theaters and found it wildly entertaining. Another movie that has the right vibe to be on this list, is “A Boy and his Dog”, which stars a very young Don Johnson, and is hilariously bizarre (yes, I know it’s from 1975).

So good to see someone talk about the film that opened up my s for French cinema, City Of the Lost Children is a masterpiece that's not talked enough about. Delicatessen was released in 1991 but I remember I did not watch it until I saw this film in 1995. Ad of course, Amélie changed me into a romantic fan. There is so much original in this film that I think it's one of my all time favorite. All those you mention are good. It's rare to see a video like this that I agree with all of the picks. I had eXistenZ on a VHS and Strange Days had so good music in it that I fell in love, again, with Juliette Lewis. You got a new subscriber. Love all those movies.

What is the definition of underrated? Most of them are all big box office success and critically succeeded too. Those movies changed director’s career in a good way. Once upon a time in America was a tragic at the time but now we have 4 and a half hour version. People cares about that movie a lot

City of Lost Children still haunts me. It was so... beautiful amd scary. I saw it as a late teen in the theater. My boyfriend named his cat miette. We were both captivated by it and it lives on in our lives. In graphic design and marketing decades later i STILL think of it, of the story. There is no better dystopian movie than this. Period.

I was at that notorious first screening of Brazil, or as it became "Non-screening" of Terry Gilliam arguing with Universal. It was quite an experience. Gilliam's POV was, "I am going to show my film!" and then Universal called the theater, and Gilliam would run up into the projection booth, talk to Universal, and then come back into the theater and tell us what happened. He was going to show us his cut. Universal won that first round - we didn't get to see it at that screening, but later that evening Gilliam showed it at another theater.
