Cutting 4' Long Wedge from Thick 4" UHMW Plastic

How we cut a 4' long wedge out of plastic using a CNC Router. Material was a 4" thick slab of UHMW (Ultra High Molecular Weight) that needed to be milled into a tapered wedge for a ship bumper with lower lug mounts. What a mess of chips everywhere! CNC Routing - Partial Bullnose

A specialty jig was designed to hold these acrylic blocks to receive a bullnose finish. The consistent rpm & feed rates, paired with a high horse power spindle, and computer controlled inputs produce the highest quality and smoothest finish routed edges for the end users. Post processing was not needed to clean up any of the edges, but all edges will all be polished out as per clients request :)

You have understand something with this video. First of all working in a plastic shop is very stressful. For the people who are doing this type of work are for the most part taught on the job. It takes years of practice and experience to get as good as this lady. And once you have a person that can do this good of a job you keep them. The actual material is cast acrylic sheets that are cut to size and assembled useing special solvents.

I kept seeing hot wire cutter videos that made me think Nichrome was supposed to be super flexible like soldiering wire. Nice to see one that shows it's a bit stiff

Does it cost extra to request an explanation? What materials are needed. Things like glue/sealants etc. Dear me, I'll grab some popcorn and watch this woman make a box in complete silence...
