OPINION: Too expensive; Been here since 1953. Used to be 12 nice cozy villages. Now an urban mess. My parents $27,000 home sold for 1.5 million. Roads are bad, sky high taxes, congestion, nasty people, crazy spending priorities on projects that never get finished.
I bought a nice 6-room cape in the 1960's for $19,000 with almost 1/3rd of an acre of land. My mortgage was $149 a month and most People could afford to live there. Now the prices are so inflated that the average middle income are priced out of even the least costly properties. What a shame that this country is pricing It's low and middle residents out of owning a piece of it. These past 4 years have seen inflation like never before.

It's scary to know that home prices have doubled in 14 years. Then we wonder why theres record homelessness.
I'm assuming YOU (the heirs) should arrange for an acceptable evaluation of the property value when the estate is settled. Preferably a top-notch executor will do this for you as part of settling the estate. You are not going to 'receive' a notice from the government telling you what the step-up value is.

That second house location on your video. That was a sand and gravel pit before that development was built. How do I know. It was my grandfather's property of about 19 acres.
