Best video by far to explain how a surface gage is used. Thanks!
Excellent video, short, to the point, answered the questions I had, thanks!
Where is the audio???
lol, racist, sexist, politically incorrectness retoric in the background will really teach the kids what it's like to work in a machine shop. I like it!🤠
@@crazydansmachineshop8718 ah! Gotta love "modern" times.
What are the 4 adjustable pins for in the base. I just got this tool.
Oh yeah, they are used to follow the edge of a part in order to scribe a straight line that follows an edge. Held in by friction. Push the pins out slightly and move surface gage along the edge of the part. Sort of like a precision hermaphrodite caliper.
Ha! I have an idea. May make a steel sub plate. Drill the 4 holes exacting. Mill out 2 rectangular slots on sub plate. Epoxy heavy duty magnets to milled plate then I could remove the Starrett scribe base from that as needed then simply have a removable magnetic base.
My small lathe is bolted to a 1/4" steel plate.
