My aunt retired from Sear after working 45 years that was her first job and last I used to love go to to buy appliance or tools. That was my favorite store for tools. Like the warranty in American made Into the last couple of years that start selling Chinese tools . It was a shame store. It been For 100 and something years just close down from one day to another that’s what I call back management 😢

I still use my dads craftsman tools on a daily basis. Dad bought these in the mid 50's in Quebec Canada. These tools have travel mileage in the area of 150'000 miles all over the world. Special note to the socket wrench. Still works like a charm and never lets me down.

Two weeks before Sears Canada announced closing we bought a new refrigerator in their store. I was talked into purchasing a warranty which cost me over two hundred dollars. I still remember the manager (an older lady) standing right next to our salesman when he talked us. They said if we don't use the warranty in 2 years, we will get our money back and that sounded like a good deal so we purchased the warranty. Thinking back, the manager was smiling at us in a funny way. After a couple of weeks, Sears declared closing and my two hundred something dollars worth of warranty is gone ! Of course we felt cheated. Sears of course knew they were closing and still kept selling warranty AND I suspect that manager and even the salesman knew too. So Sears was unethical, so are those two employees IF they knew. Until today, we feel cheated by Sears Canada.

I remember my dad taking me to the Sears in Milwaukee to buy my first bicycle in the early 1950's

My first tool set was Craftsman tools when I turned 16 and got my driver's license. I have a ton of Craftsman tools from when I used to do aircraft maintenance. If anything broke I could replace the tool by the next day, which I couldn't do with Snap-On. I stopped buying Craftsman tools when they started making them in China and the quality went down. Such a shame that an iconic American business got destroyed.

I worked for Sears for many years and they basically did three things that doomed them. 1. The last good CEO pushed in his son in law as the new CEO and he knew nothing about running it. 2. Got rid of full time employees who gave a crap and hired part timers to "save money" 3. Didn't listen to their I.T. Staff and create a strong online presence. They instead invested in mall stores when those were on the way out. They had a huge war chest and already had the distribution network in place and long paid for but no they let Jeff Brazos have that.

It's so sad what a bad administration can do to an icon firm of our American life. Someone needs to bring back our Sears.

What happened to Sears? First came Walmart and then came Amazon. People were “inventing a better mouse trap”. And life moves on. My grandfathers house was a Sears home. When we tore it down we could see the boards that were stamped Sears Roebuck.

The owner or CEO of Sears and Lowes closed Sears stores because they weren't making enough money for him. He kept Craftsmen tools and now sells Craftsmen in Lowes and Ace Hardware stores.

Sears still exist; in Mexico. Radio Shack still exist; in Mexico. PAY PHONES still exist... in Mexico. So I take it when some folks say, "all those Mexicans are taking away American jobs", they must be correct.

I still wear 2 sweatshirts I got before oldest was born he's 48. They're a little rough but wearable. Loved the Christmas catalogs and miss them!!!

I wanted those DANG Sea monkeys so BAD ..I saved my quarters and taped them to a card with the order form from BOY'S LIFE magazine ...and Mom saw the FLAG up on the mailbox AND INTERCEPTED THE ORDER >>>BOY WAS I MAD!!!! Ditto FAKE SIDEBURNS and LIVE SEAHORSE ..it was like living behind the IRON CUTAIN!! nothing got past her!!!

I remember leases for Apts that expressly forbade WATER BEDS ...they weighed tons and were a disaster if ruptured...and without a frame would roll across a room!

Not long ago, I was hospitalized in the VA, with a veteran, who actually bought a LIVE DONKEY, from Sears, in 1936! It was shipped by rail, he had to go to his local train station to pick it up. He was 8 years old, at the time. That has to be one of the most far out things, that Sears ever sold!

Sears fashion models were many a boy's first crush. 😊

My parents were Kenmore loyalists, everything in our home had that logo on it, from washer & dryer. Gas stove, dishwasher, microwave, vacuum, sewing machine and trust me when I say those appliances were built to last.

I worked in Brand Central for nearly eight years and when I started long time co-workers told me that Sears management had been hostile towards sale people for years and want to keep commissions down. Sears started forcing long term employees out and replacing them with incompetent kids. This trend along with Allen Lacey/ Ed Lambert stock scheme (effectively a hostile takeover over) spelled the end of a 100 year plus company. Business experts called Lambert’s vision a realistate deal to sell off assets, which is exactly what occurred. People sell the product not corporate officers.

What about Lauda Air, US Airways ?? I miss People's Express and the brown bag lunches you got to grab from the cool as you boarded the airplane. People are glad to forget TRUMP airlines. If still around it would be a huge target for terrorists.

My dad growing up as a kid would go to sears that was attached to the local mall and that's it. I remember when sears was closing down I went to buy some clearance on tools and the prices were still more expensive than home depot. The old sears by me is now is a hobby lobby

If Sears had a brain, they would bring back those pre-fab house kits. out here in California, a decent house will cost you $1 million . If you find the right property, maybe an area that’s been burned out, you could build your own house for a hell of a lot cheaper than $1 million. just team up with a bunch of friends, and everybody takes turns building Each other’s houses. I think that’s how my dad did it with his neighbors with landscaping that didn’t come with the new houses that they bought

Sears? Sears did exactly what Amazon does. Ran all it's vendors out of business, on purpose. Amazon has an endless supply. Sears didn't. All consumers saw was Craftsman or Kenmore, without a clue of what was really going on behind those names. Finally, I believe today, they have vendors who don't need Sears and can't be bullied on price, and expect to be paid on time. And that was the end of Sears. One year they used John Deere tractor mowers that were identical to John Deere mowers except they were black and said Craftsman on them. Amazon see's how well you're doing as a vendor, And if you're doing well, makes it's own deals with your suppliers and deals you out by cutting your price. And nothing is too small. And of course, this is all illegal but Bezos pays his politicians, and owns barrels of ink. Obviously.

I loved the Sears Christmas catalog as a child in the 80s and I worked in the Sears Hardware department as a teen and college student for 5 years. Was some good times. They didnt see Wal-Mart and Kmart as competition because they felt their market was the middle to upper middle invome families while walmart and kmart catered to less financially established families. Then they failed to innovate once e-commerce came on the scene and that was the final nail in the coffin.

So a hedge fund did them in, and now those same funds are destroying everything else in this country
