2022 Kawasaki KLX300 Dual Sport Yoshimura RS-2 Sound Test
Yoshimura RS-2 exhaust on my 2022 Kawasaki KLX300 Dual Sport
Note that I also have spark arrestor and a KDX 200 dirtbike snorkel on there and an EJK tuner kit (balancing our air/fuel mixture) that may affect the sound as well.
I get questions asking if it is obnoxiously loud. I feel like I can drive around my neighborhood at a low RPM and not irritate my neighbors. But if I need to get a car‘s attention on my way home from the trail then I can easily rev up the RPMs and let them know that I’m near.

    Hello which rubber grommet size did you use to plug the holes on the fender after you removed the toolkit. Your bike looks great btw

      Thank you. it was very difficult to just find a package of one or two grommets that fit the bike. I ended up buying an assortment package off of Amazon. It was only around $13 when I bought it. It’s actually come in handy a couple times for other projects. Good to have around. I don’t believe I can paste the link here but I will paste the title and if you copy and paste that on Amazon, you should find the one that is 10 piece for $13.99. Vrupin 188 Pieces Closed Rubber Grommet Firewall Solid Closed Hole Plug Assortment Kit. 👍

    Did you have to do anything else to the tires or wheels for the tubeless system

    • @threebikes
      @threebikes Před 7 měsíci

      It was a while ago that I got them installed. They had to drill out an additional hole for the tubliss valve. (tubliss has an installation video, see that for more details, and there are many youtube tubliss videos). I decided to have a shop with experience install it for me. Tire itself did not have to be modified in any way.

    Nice ,I'm on a 2010 KLX250 with a factory 300r barrel and head with a local "StayinTune" full pipe with a cut down KDX snorkel. The bike had 970 km when I found it at a price where I found it economical to sell my 2016 KLX250 and obtain a "massive" increase in power while saving A few thousand $au buy not doing the upgrades to the 2016 model I had planned. I find it light and agile with great bottom end torque and strong midrange power for how I ride every day. Sometimes I find it a bit cramped even after bar-risers and SeatConcepts seat added. Wish I could lower the foot pegs a bit. But as a re-entry point after 30yrs of not riding, it has served well. Next trial will be a KLX400r as a comparison and go from there for some bigger rides camping out. Cheers from downunder and ride safe. PS. Running a 15/46 sprocket combo for a marginally lower geared bike, but still not crippling highway sections of the ride.

    Looks good, I guess you kept all the smog stuff on such as the PAIR, O2 Sensor and Canister? I did the KDX Snorkel, Delkevic slip-on exhaust, EJK tuner and deleted all of the smog stuff mentioned above. Plugged & capped the excess smog line to the fuel injector and ran a vent hose up near gas cap. I started with the 13/43 sprocket combo but found that was too low for some road rides so put the 14 back up front. Runs so incredibly much better!!

    • @threebikes
      @threebikes Před rokem

      Deleted O2, etc. as well. Yes, I agree. I think that 14/43 fits perfect for those 2nd gear lugs through the slow technical areas when most of your riding is trails. Takes some speed off the top, but I don't use my bike for commuting so I'm willing to make the sacrifice.

    Was hoping you'd throw it on a scale and find the end result? I have a 2022 KLX300 Camo and also went with a 43 tooth rear, but didn't have to lengthen the stock chain and still some room for adjustment. Not a fan of reducing the front sprocket for several good reasons. Wondering how loud that exhaust might be? I went with a Delvtek w/spark arrester and it's a bit too loud for my liking. BTW- all of my YZ's and WR's over the years never had a chain guard, this is the first one for me, other than my bicycle. Nice job, but can't help thinking about how much invested? Like you said, 'to each his own' is the only way to go. Thanks

    • @threebikes
      @threebikes Před rokem

      I wish I could put it on a scale. I think the exhaust and the lithium battery save me roughly 11 pounds. Appreciate you letting people know that you were able to do a 43 tooth rear sprocket and not have to change the chain. I was wondering if other people who installed that 43 were able to do it with the stock chain. I do have a video for my exhaust sound on my channel. Also, there were some good questions in the comment section that may help guide you on that Yoshimura. Thank you for your input on the chain guard as well. I’ve kept mine off as I see no reason to have it on. I suppose if I were to do quite a bit of street riding and adventure riding with side luggage, maybe the safety aspect of having that chain guard on with straps blowing in the wind would be a smart thing (or a lot of passenger riding?). I believe my parts on the bike would be approximately $2500, ballpark. I also waited for almost a year to get the bike, so I was able to save up some cash, and have the dealer install a lot of those items. I chose to change out the plastics, and people could save a lot of money if they didn’t do that. Also, if they just put a modification on every few months, and did the labor themselves, they could save money as well. I have not had any regrets since I bought the bike. It was the right bike for me and my situation.

    Thanks for the great video! Thoso Koso heated grips... Are they the MX-1 model, and were there any tricks to the install? It looks like the MX-1 simply replaces the entire throttle tube--is that correct?

    • @threebikes
      @threebikes Před 2 lety

      Thanks. The Koso MX1 grips were installed by the dealer when they installed my ProTaper handlebar set up. When I originally looked into the install myself it did not look very difficult. And I believe your are correct about the throttle tube. I know there can be some issues using the stock handlebars so I'm not sure what difficulty you may run into. Just remember to turn off the heated grips after use since they are wired direct to the battery. They may have upgraded the model so double check Koso/Revzilla before you buy the MX1. Koso has an install video on their website.

    • @MotoTherapy
      @MotoTherapy Před 2 lety

      @@threebikes Thanks. I already have Protaper bars (CR High) installed, so I’m good there. Having to remember to turn off the grips is a concern-I’m pretty sure Oxfords are able to sense when the bike is off. But Oxfords are not as clean of an install, as the old grip has to be scraped off the tube (with significant difficulty, from what I understand). I do like the look of the Koso grips-first time I have seen them. Thanks again 👍

    • @threebikes
      @threebikes Před 2 lety

      A side note that the grips are "grippy", but are thin. A little padding in the gloves helps. They are no Pro Taper Pillow top grips.

    Did your front fender bolt right on, or did you need any spacers? I ordered the same front fender and when i installed it, the back half of the fender is very snug to the frame and sliiightly rubs. Did you have this issue?

    • @threebikes
      @threebikes Před 2 lety

      The rear part of the fender hit the frame when I first installed it (I moved the handlebars back and forth and noticed it). I experimented and placed two washers on each of the rear two mounting screws on top of the fender between the fender and the bike. I placed one washer on each of the two front screws in the same manner. This "pushed" the fender far enough away that it doesn't hit any more. It was a little tricky trying to make sure the washers didn't slide around when I was tightening everything, but it worked. Depending on the thickness of the washer you have, you may only have to have one washer. But you may have to go back and add washers or take some out as well. I had two washers up front, but ended up changing it to one washer keeping two in the rear.

    • @threebikes
      @threebikes Před 2 lety

      @@gdough87 Also, you'll see that there is a ridge on the front top of the fender that impedes the access to the lower bolt to remove the plastic frame around the headlight. I simply loosen the bolts (rather than remove them) on the bottom of the front fender and push down on the front fender to gain access to that headlight plasic frame bolt (it helps if it's warm or the plastic has been sitting in the sun to make it more flexible). When I'm done working on the headlight or turn signals or whatever, I just tighten up the four bolts on the fender again after reattaching the headlight frame plastic. I don't plan on needing my front headlight plastic removed very often so I'm not worried about the extra step.

    How much more power is it making with all of the mods combined? Sounds like a high performance machine.

    • @threebikes
      @threebikes Před 2 lety

      I would say (my butt dyno) the performance mods add about 15-20% more power/grunt/performance. It's a little skewed since I added the 43 tooth rear sprocket at the same time. All in all it was worth it, but don't expect a phenomenal difference. I think the 43 sprocket really helps the slow speed cruising on single track in second gear (better range so you don't feel like 1st gear is too high and 2nd is too low). JH Motor Club has a channel/video and he tested a Power Commander and had similar good results.
