FYI, the food selections in the airport's main areas can be a little expensive so check out the staff canteen, which is also open to visitors. Great selection and more wallet friendly choices.

I was aware of a few facts that you mentioned. However I did not know about the massive Portuguese population, nor that the public transportation is free. Is is nice to know some things are moderately priced there. In addition, the Queen is of Cuban descent. I think she might have grown up in either New York or Florida, but I am not sure.

It is quite astounding flying from the West to the East takes less time than the opposite direction. When I took AF in Economy class from NY to Paris, we only got 6 hours compared to 7h30 (from Paris to NY). It is much harder to get over the jet lag for some travelers when you arrive in France, in the UK...

Thank you, for this very nice overview of the United Airlines "Polaris" Lounge at the Newark airport. This morning, I called to see if my United Airlines Club "Lifetime" membership would give me access. According to the staff member that, I talked to over the telephone they said sorry but no, I could not enter without either a "business" or "First Class" ticket for an international flight. So, I said "wow what a poor way to treat your United Club "Lifetime" members (smile ... smile).

Just went skydiving today. It was cool. Im someone who's not terrified of heights but im more a peson who gets anxiety for high speeds. It happened so quickly i got on the ground like "really?". Its a little overhyped so dont worry people youll be fine. Just make sure your instructor is big on safety. If not, ditch them.

Status passengers will get first pick on meal. You most likely got your second choice because people ahead of you, including status passengers, chose the Cajun shrimp. Pre-order meals are not counted as part of the total as those are non “offerable” to other passengers. Next time is a good idea to pre order your meal for a guaranteed meal.

The crew asked for 2nd choice of meals to those who didn’t preorder their meals. If you preorder a meal, the crew will confirm that you still would like that choice. On United, Global Service and 1K members get their 1st choice in meals. Hence the reason they ask for 1st and 2nd choice. But if you preorder a meal, you’ll receive it unless you don’t want it anymore.

When I turned 20 (I’m 30 now) my mom was thinking about giving me skydiving as a present. But instead I got an electric violin. I’m terrified of heights nowadays which I wasn’t at 20. But now I’m actually consider doing it 🙈

Just made my first jump today. Agree with all 5 points. I like the stomach drop feeling that you don't experience jumping with a parachute so it didn't feel extreme enough 😅. I didn't care much after parachute opened due to slight motion sickness. The most uncomfortable part is the ears for me. It's been 7 hours and my ears are still not ok. Cool to experience though.
