For the side lines: I prefer to use the centered solid line-blocks for road sides instead of using the edge lines, leaving a half-block shoulder on the roads for a few reasons: 1. It works nice with the ramps: there are center-line ramp blocks, so you can still have ramps with lines and keep it looking nice. 2. Having an extra half-block width makes driving a bit easier. 3. Overall, once you start building up road signs, it looks better and helps prevent barely clipping road-signs when turning. 4. Slightly better visibility. The downside is, of course, that you need even more asphalt per road length. I also recommend paying attention to the land claim grid when planning roads: By building to the grid, you prevent players from needing to claim chunks of road to build their own buildings. It can also be useful on large servers if the government wants to do things like set up a district for all roads areas, which can be useful for public works projects. My personal road design goes like this: S S -I- - - - -||- - - - -|- S S where S = sidewalk, -|- is asphalt center line, - is clear asphalt, and -| and |- are side line asphalt: 14 blocks wide (4 sidewalk + 10 asphalt . I'll lay this out such that the asphalt covers exactly 2 land-claim grids wide, leaving the sidewalks on separate land claims (which encourages people to push even further off the road, unless they really need the space. Have had people do clever things with overhangs over the sidewalk.

Ik u are on your 50ish Ep now but i just started to watch your PL today and just wanted to say i like it very much. Had Eco along time but got hooked a couple of weeks ago real hard and I like to see that am not alone in getting frustraded in the mess all stockpiles can make. Yeah the OCD is real 😜 We play realy alike

There's also the matter of visibility on crossroads. If you have a 1-wide sidewalk and there's a building on the corner, and a vehicle coming from your right, you won't see it until it's right in your face. A 3-wide sidewalk gives you much more time to react.

Also to notice, its quicker to drop dirt with anything except the shovel You dig with a shovel but once the dirt is stocked somewhere, you can simply take it with any other tools or even nothing in your hands by clicking on the stock, then place it where you want without the animation of the shovel each time

I'm completely new to the game. I've been looking for a youtube channel that has good information that is both clearly laid out and informative. Your channel fits the bill. I hope to see more from you. (:

Everything that uses power will make power available at a range of 10 blocks around it. Not only horizontally, vertically too. Just remember, that the area is no cube it is a sphere. We made our streets bigger because the powered vehicles have problems to get around any corner if there are just 3 blocks wide paths. We have build the roads into the land as it is more natural especially at areas with untouched nature beside the streets. To make it easy we build the roads by using the Skid Steer. At the beginning we used a vehicle from a mod. It is like the Skid Steer, just it can only pick up sand, dirt, clay and crushed stone.
