Hi! My name is Aiko and I am a children's book illustrator and 2D animation graduate from the Netherlands ~

Chat & draw with me! ✿ Watch me make a mixed media illustration in my sketchbook while I talk about the ins and outs of me preparing for my shop launch. This mixed media illustration was inspired by a New Yorker cover illustrated by Klaas Verplancke. I thought it was such a fun idea that I just had to try it for myself. I filmed this a while ago, and looking back I can tell this piece was what made me want to work more with traditional and physical art mediums again.
I'm currently very close to opening up my Shopify shop! I think i figured out all the admin stuff and now just have to post all promotion material I made. It is all very exciting and overwhelming and I'd like to once again thank everyone for their support so far!

Thank you!! My initial idea was for it to be a wolf but it can also be read as a fox haha so both I guess? 😂
What have you been reading in book club? I'm sure the other members loved their gift! What's your favorite kind of bear?
So far we have mainly been reading fantasy books! Recently we read Emily Wilde's encyclopaedia of faeries which was a lot of fun! And my favorite bear... omg it's hard to just pick 1 😭 but I do really have a soft spot for the spectacled bear! I read they are quite shy 🥺❤

OML. These are so adorable I could cry. I love everything and anything about them. You have such a soft and adorable style it’s hard not to fall completely in love with pieces of paper. The concept pages were so so sweet and the final product was amazing.

What were the art materials that did work?? I'd love to do this myself aswell!~☆😄
I made this a while back so I'm not a 100% sure anymore, but if I remember correctly the Faber Castell polychromos, waterproof fine liners from Staedtler and some copic markers worked on these. (Not all copics though?? I remember the yellow ones tended to bleed more often for some reason) If you were to try this for yourself I would look for waterproof art materials, I think those will have the highest chance of success! ❤
