You're the best at explaining and breaking down your music. I have leaned so much from your U tube channel. Thank you!!
Thank you, I’m happy I’ve been able to help!
Great sounds as always... always inspirational, thanks Jeff :)
Thanks Dex!
Very nice !! I loved this one!!
Thank you!
Very cool cue, Jeff! I love the brass, huge sound!
Thanks Craig!
Great breakdown video as always. It was great to learn how to transitioning key to key so seamlessly. Always enjoying your music and breakdown video.
Thanks Yuka!
"Nasty" is the new standard for this type of cue! Great tutorial. Thank You!
Thanks and you’re welcome!
Love this!
Thanks!
🔥Fantastic music (cue), Jeff!! 👍🏾 Enjoyed your breakdown. I really enjoyed hearing you talk about some of the chords (progressions) you used, the melodies were beautiful, and the quality of instruments (orchestration) was fabulous! Thank you again for the look see into how you create the great music you create!!
Hey Judith! I hope you’re well. Thanks so much!!!
@@JHBBM All is well, Jeff. I’m back after taking a little break from music production. It was nice of you to ask, thank you! 🙏
Wow awesome!
Thanks!
Lovely cue Jeff reminds me of John Williams Inspired starwars fantastic. How many tracks did you use for the epic sound cheers Phil 👍
Thanks Phil! I’m not sure about the track count but will let you know. Btw.. I really enjoyed your gladiator cue but your comments were off. Have a great weekend!
@@JHBBM thanks Jeff not sure what's happened there on comments have a great weekend mate 👍
Great video as always! Thanks for the breakdown.
Thanks and you’re welcome!
I’m am thoroughly impressed my brother. I too am just getting started with the Contant creating with my music. And you have just inspired me even more. Thanks for the motivation, brother and good luck with this journey. I have subscribed to your channel.
Thank you and thanks for the sub! I hope you find the content helpful, let’s go get it!!!
Hi, I love your videos 🎉 Any suggestions on where to submit cues like yours? I have some made, and I am trying to figure out where to license my sports hip.hop orchestral cue? Thanks again 😀 Really appreciate any advice. Have a great day.
Did you just pull a loop from cubase, and did you alter it so it wouldn't be an exact copy? Are there licensing issues/conflicts with using loops from cubase?😊 Thanks again, lovin all your vids. 🎉
Hey Angelina, thanks so much! The library the library that I write my sports cues for is RRHOT but unfortunately they don't accept unsolicited submissions. Check out the channel @clintmusic1as He has a lot of great info on specific libraries you can contact. Hope this helps!
Oftentimes I use percussion loops from Splice and either use them with another loop, chop them or change the tempo etc. I typically use these to enhance my drum groove. You'll probably run into issues if you grab a loop and it's the star of your cue or you're using it by itself, etc.
Hey Angelina, check at around 11:09 in the video and I talk about what I do with my loops.
@JHBBM 👍 great ... thanks for the tip...love Clint's videos too.
Great Video 🎉 Curious, what was your loudness level for the mastering? LUFS and RMS. Thanks again for a detailed video. Blessings 🙌 😊
Thanks Angelina. For this particular library they require cues at -12 LUFS integrated.
This is super dope Jeff! Shessh! This is why I follow you man! Blessings!
Thanks bro, appreciate it!!!
SHEESH!! This is heat
Thanks!
@@JHBBMhow can I get connected with you to get feedback or advice on my projects? Really could use a listening ear to know if I’m in the right direction
what sound kits do you use?
Hey Frank! Sound kits in terms of what? For drums I like the stuff from iamamusicmogul.com, otherwise it's mostly sample libraries and one shots from Splice. Let me know if I didn't answer your specific question. Thanks!
I noticed that your tracks are in midi, I turn my midi tracks into audio then normalize then apply CLA 2A Midi vs. Audio; saving CPU? Sometimes you get a more punchy sound using midi.
Yeah I typically don't bounce to audio beacause of time. I know that could come back to bite me in the future if for some reason I need to recall the cue and all the sounds are no longer available. I recently built a new computer so thankfully I don't have to to worry about saving CPU. I'll have to check the CLA 2A midi/vs audio as I never knew that.
Those strings sound stellar!!! Great work as always, man!
Thanks Bro, means a lot coming from you!
Thanks for sharing your talents and skills!!!
My pleasure!
Amazing Cue Jeff!!!!!!!! Perfect instrumentation and voicings!!!!!! Love your mixes!!!! Keep killing it bro!!!!! #MasterTeacher #YouGotTheGlow #Maestro
Thanks bro!!! Appreciate the kind words!
What a theme Jeff love the melody with the choir at 1.43 until the dissonant riser weaving through the melody kicks back in to the main theme love this Jeff, I was ready with some snacks for the movie lol have a great weekend Phil 👍
Hey Phil! Thanks my friend!!! You have a great weekend as well!
I would certainly like to know more about your melody and arrangement construction and also if your examples are written to be in your portfolio or written for a specific brief. 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Hi Ian, this particular cue was originally written for a Taxi listing and is currently signed by a library. I wrote some of the cues for briefs and some for my portfolio. In terms of arrangement it depends upon what I’m writing for. Sports cues have a slightly different arrangement than cues written for unscripted & scripted shows. I pretty much write to form based upon what it’s for. As it relates to melody, I just write what I hear. Honestly sometimes I feel my cues are too melodic and I’m constantly working to simplify. Hope that helps.
Hey Jeff. Great tracks! Would you please explain how your computer is set up? Are You PC or MAC based? On my computer (PC) - Serum and Omnisphere just once on my computer - is a strain. My "C" drive is filling up. I like Toontrack, Spitfire and Native Instruments as well. Do you use external drives? What's on your "C" drive and your external drives. What is the size of your "C" drive? Mine is 1 TB.
Hey Kenneth: I’m on PC, I can get you more detailed specs but I have the latest intel processor with 64 gigs of RAM expandable to 128. I pretty much load all of my samples to external drives. I currently have 3 sample drives. Omnisphere, Keyscape, etc are also loaded on my external drives. I load program files etc on my C drive and it’s pretty large. I also have some internal drives that I haven’t used yet. Basically, I prefer to keep all my samples on the external as I plan to have a mobile set up at some point and want to be able to grab whatever samples I need. I have a redundant drive for all of my projects and I back up my system via Backblaze and AOMEI backupper. Hope that helps. I’m not sitting at my computer and can’t remember all of the specs.
Thank you so much for this, I greatly appreciate you being so helpful, transparent and informative. Keep doin’ it!
You’re very welcome!
Thank you for this 🙏🏼
You’re welcome!
Unfortunately this is all moot since AI is going to kill the sync and music for commercials industry. I’ve been successfully composing music for commercials since the 80’s but the writing is on the wall.
So what do you feel is the alternative?
@@JHBBM If there are alternatives… One: Sound design. At the moment AI doesn’t seem to be able to abstract sound - wether music or contemporary sound manipulation - to film/visual sequences. Sound design as apart from Foley is extremely out of the remit of AI algorithms so far. Two: Totally non generic original and innovative music that juxtaposes different genres. If you think of how Beck creates his music traversing a whole bunch of disparate styles to make something unique then that’s how we can - for a short while - reclaim a certain equilibrium despite the algorithm.
@@kelvynification Good stuff, thanks!
Yo! thanks for the information that you are providing, you are giving me insights into the real deal world of music licensing placements.
You’re very welcome!
Beginner
This is on point! #Amazing🔥🔥🔥
Thanks!
Learned a lot from these. Glad to see we’re both in the sync space! It’s been a while we need to catch up.
What’s up Jacob, long time indeed! You still in the Atlanta area?
nice
Thanks!
What a great Q. The tutorials are the best! The way you break everything down. Love the way you broke down your mixing section thank you so much for your time you're very talented
Thank you, glad it was helpful!
thank you for this. so many channels focus on how to get syncs instead how to write the actual music. subbed!
it would be nice to see what's going on inside Ozone!
You’re welcome! I’ll get inside Ozone on a future video.
Wow! This is awesome. I just found your channel and I am so happy that I did. Thank you so much for sharing a little of your knowledge with me 💯🔥
You’re very welcome!
Lost me at the routing, but im tryin to learn...thank you sir
I’m happy to answer any questions you have. I don’t quite recall what I was talking about as to routing but let me know what you didn’t understand.
Very nice! Sound is professional quality all the way! Great job bro!
Thank you!
Nice❣️
Yeah buddy❣️
Nice ✌️
Thanks!
Awesome. Do you have a background video telling your musical journey story? Orchestral etc?
Thanks, yes here’s an interview I did that kinda shares my journey. It starts at around 9:50 czcams.com/video/35vAVbOW188/video.htmlsi=nSKJADBTfIlJLx3H
awesome thanks. Is there a nice payout per? Royalties etc? I’ll look further into your vids. New here😅
Thanks! I’ll probably start seeing payouts in the 3rd quarter. I still haven’t seen the cue sheets show up in my PRO & ASCAP doesn’t pay without them. I’ll try to remember to revisit that topic for you.
Sounds as crisp as NATIVE INSTRUMENTS KOMPLETE 💯🔥
🔥🔥🔥
Would love to hear more about the business side, like how little is too little to charge, I know people don't like talking about how much they make, but think it's important to give ballpark figures so it's not the typical race to o the bottom of new composers undercutting just either because they think that's the only way to get clients or they just have no clue and get taken advantage of. Anyway just found your channel and subbed after about 5 minutes of watching, looks like good stuff!
For the most part, when you're working with libraries all money is made on the back end unless there's an upfront Sync. In that case, you'll split 50/50 with the library. That said there are some libraries that pay per track but sometimes that comes with giving up all sync income so you would have weigh whether or not it's worth it. Hope this helps and thanks for the sub.
Appreciate you sharing this brother! Clean sound and I can definitely understand the structure. Well done! Question: Can you talk a little bit about the packaging of your submission? (i.e. did you have to send stems, loops cleared etc.)
Thanks! This particular library requires the unmastered full and alt mixes only at -6. This is the only library I work with that does their own mastering. My library that works with CBS Sports requires mastered Full & Alt mixes along with a :30 sec cut down at -12 Lufs integrated. Any others I have worked with have only required mastered full & alt mixes. Most want .wav files at 24/48 but I've worked with a few that want .aiff at 24/48. Also each one has their own loudness requirements. Hope this helps!
@@JHBBM Good to know. I typically mix to -6DB (For headroom) and master at -12 LUFS for streaming. That's interesting they master their own tracks too. Excellent!
Wow. That's nice. That's at least 60 tracks. Impressive mix... Inspired......
Thanks! Yes this cue has a lot of tracks but I also did a video showing how you can accomplish the same thing without using a lot of tracks. You can cjeck it out here: czcams.com/video/3PjRbUD7crc/video.html Stay inspired!!!
so old school rap beat with orchestral stuff on it
This cue in its simplest form yes but not all cues for sports are the same. Also another key component is understanding and executing the form.
this is awesome! Thank you so much for the tutorial
You’re very welcome!
The creativity, amazing. Great work!!
Thank you!
