I know this is late, but going through Kanto in the PokeMMO as my first region, it really doesn't feel like it's balanced for new players. Bosses have competitive items, and their Pokemon have way too many coverage moves. Not to mention you're forced to only use 4 items per battle. I know people will tell me to 'git gud' or 'grind', but that doesn't erase the problem I have with it.
