Thanks for this video. Excellent idea of comparing the two images according to the times. Great red signs for details to compare. Very good background music. Perhaps it would be interesting if there was an epigraph labeling the location of the scene. Once again, thank you very much
This is testament to the construction of the original buildings that they were able to recreate the said buildings to their former glory, built far better than those of today
Executive Mansion Washington, Nov. 21, 1864. Dear Madam, I have been shown in the files of the War Department a statement of the Adjutant General of Massachusetts that you are the mother of five sons who have died gloriously on the field of battle. I feel how weak and fruitless must be any word of mine which should attempt to beguile you from the grief of a loss so overwhelming. But I cannot refrain from tendering you the consolation that may be found in the thanks of the Republic they died to save. I pray that our Heavenly Father may assuage the anguish of your bereavement, and leave you only the cherished memory of the loved and lost, and the solemn pride that must be yours to have laid so costly a sacrifice upon the altar of freedom. Yours, very sincerely and respectfully, A. Lincoln
I grow up in normandy and lives in Carentan few years. On the first picture on the left part of the road we can see the "cafe du stade" when i used to buy my cigarettes (i stop smoking since a long time now 😀), it s the same cafe that you see in "Band of brother" when Gi attack some german soldier with a MG42 inside it. In the soap it s called "café de normandie". Thx for the video however i think it s better if you put the name of the places with the pictures.
Sad part all the fighting all that death to rid a world of evil. Just to open the flood gates to African savages who are determined to destroy Europe. All we did is delay the same results. Europe is done.

YEAH BUT what have we learned in our thousands of years of being here only to make better weapons to kill more that's what the human race is best at killing each other and anything else we can kill too
I always think of the human cost of war, but these remind of the total destruction war brings. Imagine every town that had fighting ended meeting a similar or often even worse. Sad.
I am reading books about war and this is a big deal.for me looking at these photos ans seeing the smiles thinking what is on their mind.. I am highly indebted on what you have done for us.. my bucket list is to visit Normandy all the ear landmarks in France..etc. HEROES WEAR BOOTS.. HATS OFF TO YOU SIR.
Normandy is a lovely place - in many ways it hasn't changed much. It's not overcrowded with new buildings, cars or people. You can go visit Utah beach out of season and hardly see anyone else.
And there are things Europeans like about America , such as its energy , optimism, "can do" attitude and the warmth and welcoming nature of its people.
Nous ne faisons que passer. Ces photos d'époque, malgré la guerre, paraissent animés par la vie alors que celle d'aujourd'hui nous semble silencieuse et presque triste.
Wonderful, stirring pictures...I will never forget what this generation did for me and my family!!!!!
Now the enemy they fought there then, is here NOW!

The people were very determined to rebuild there country to the way it was before the Nazis fucked them. Bless them.
Thank you Philip.

R.I.P all german Soilder
Haunting.
Sad part all the fighting all that death to rid a world of evil. Just to open the flood gates to African savages who are determined to destroy Europe. All we did is delay the same results. Europe is done.
The liberation of France cost more civilian lives and did more damage than the conquering and occupation by Germany.
Prove it.
Valla es sorprendente cómo algunas cosas siguen tal cual como esos días
Great video 👍

Camera quality increased
Well done. I live near Bayeux Normandy
Impresionante, algún día haré ese recorrido
Nowadays teens cant even differentiate which one is WW1 and WW2. I a millenial myself.
Brilliant. Just love these 'then and now' war images. Very poignant.
I watched this again, and i remember saving private ryan 🥺
I always try and look for my pops in photos and film clips who landed with a Canadian regiment on dday he was raf regiment . 🇬🇧🇺🇸🇨🇦
Thumbs down must have had their furniture rearranged in the take back.

It must be strange for veterans to visit with everything built up again.
NICE PHOTO SHOP
Nice to see those important edifices still remain intact for almost 80 years..........

Truly the greatest generation.
Every time I watch Now and Then of places, I always think how was it like to live back in the past years.
The stone remains. ,also.
