Thank you for the videos, they are very helpful. Especially since you seem to be the only guy working on the 453 model. I was hoping you could post a video about replacing the engine mounts on the 453 model. I have a slight muted thumping sound every time I accelerate or I go over certain bumps. I suspect the engine mounts or the rear control arm. I cant find any info about where the engine mounts are on the 453 only the 451. Thanks in advance.

@@Freemansynthetics nope, but is my vehicle 😂 I usually use 10w30 an all my vehicles, but since its fairly low mileage I used the 5 instead of the 0w-20 on the manual

@@J.PROJECTZ another question that I’m concerned about with my 2016 453. Should my engine fan be running all the time or only when the engine reaches a certain temperature? I noticed your fan was running when you were checking for coolant leaks. Every once in a while, we will smell something that is hot after driving the car but the coolant temperature never indicates that the engine is hot. I’m wondering if the fan has to run continuously or only at certain temperatures. The coolant temperature runs slightly above 180 but the little fan in the engine compartment is not operating.
@@darrells1806 if the a/c it’s on it will run all the time if not only when it reaches about 180-190*
Yeah, maybe 45 years ago I would’ve been into that intake sound but at 67 years old, I now prefer the quiet non boy racer sound. And those rubber band tires oh my goodness no 😜😜

Can you please help? I got a new rear spoiler for my smart and someone said I have to remove the whole bumper in order to install it. Is that true?
It is possible to remove it without removing the bumper, it’s a bit tricky to remove the plastic clips on the corners and then you have to drill out the rivets .

But it is super easy to remove the whole bumper it only took me like 20 min to remove it. I would remove it.

The correct transmission oil for a Smart fortwo 453 6-speed automatic DCT (Dual Clutch Transmission) is 1.7 L of "Castrol Transmax Manual FE 75W'. It's approved by Mercedes Benz on their gear oils sheet 235.73 aka 'MB 235.73'. It has a pullout gooseneck that makes it easier to pour into the trans directly. Google "operating fluids mercedes benz" > [first Google result] > Cars > Gear Oil > Sheet 235.73 > Castrol Transmax Manual FE 75W If you have a 453 Single-Speed Electric Drive (ED) Transmission, it's the same Castrol oil above, just less of it (0.9 L). If you have a 453 5-speed manual transmission, reference sheet 235.10 (link above) for a completely different oil (2.6 L). Transmissions are picky AF. Please do research and use the correct oil! All the marketing buzz words are there but it’s not MB 235.73 approved. Google "operating fluids mercedes benz" > [first Google result] > Cars > Gear Oil > Sheet 235.73 > Castrol Transmax Manual FE 75W Which seems like a weird thing but on the back of the bottle it says “Approved by MB 235.73”. All trans oil isn’t created equal. Something is better then nothing but the correct blood is necessary for a long life 😅
