This version of Take Five is the perfect background music for taking time to polish shoes and boots. Best prescription for attaining peace and order! Life now shines as do footwear! Tempo matches brush strokes to the beat!

I listened to this drum breakout for the first time at sunrise after an early morning drive to drop my (drummer) brother off at the airport in Denver. Heaven on earth. Our VFW Band plays this piece. I play flute melody. But that drum solo at sunrise…… can’t be beat. No pun intended.

Sounds like they had an additional saxophone player for this one -- who was the guest performer? Edit: Searched online, and according to Wikipedia: Dave Brubeck - piano, producer Paul Desmond - alto saxophone Gerry Mulligan - baritone saxophone(*) Jack Six - double bass Alan Dawson - drums (*)Apparently not just a 1-time guest, but working with Dave Brubeck regularly for a few years up through 1973. And yes, they _really_ elaborated on this composition for this performance.

All my life long Brubek's "Take Five" goes by my side, bringing my mood back lmmldiately with the very first sounds, no matter what wrong was with me. I've had heard it for the first time ln Tbilisi - city, soviet Georgia, ln about 1970, when I was ten, on wondeful soviet LP vinyl record in a beautiful sleeve. What can I say... I was shocked. And this shock is getting stronger and deeper.

I was born the year this song was originally recorded and released. I grew up with and spent most of my early life listening to all the great rock of the 60's and 70's (less so of the 80's and 90's). I spend time listening to the defining songs and albums of that era and genre, read the comments and feel, quite sure, that yes, 'this is the greatest rock and stands the test of time'. Then I come and listen to this. And know that nothing ever recorded in the last century can compare. I started shifting to jazz in my late 20's when began feeling a need for more sophisticated mature music that wasn't shouting something at me all the time. Just music. The journey of discovery of great jazz has never ended. And when I need to feel that there is much that was right with humanity and its ultimate achievements, it is this that moves me and keeps me grounded. And I feel that as long as this music is alive, exists, gains new followers and those that can put in the work to come to truly deeply appreciate it, civilization will will be okay, it will survive.

I was first introduced to the DBQ in about 1979, when I heard "Time Out". The following year, I saw the quartet live at the Kool Jazz Festival in Saratoga Springs, NY. DBQ played there every year for more than 20 years, I saw them every time. I remember a clarinet rather than a sax a time or two, "just to try out the sound" as Mr. B told us. Always a fabulous set. Mulligan on the baritone contrasts Desmond's alto perfectly.

Well, it appears that it took a Pandemic for the world to find , appreciate , creative phenomenal talent again. I noticed that the view skyrocketed in the past year !! I personally prefer this version as it gives each person their own time to shine ! That's respect ! The other versions did NOT have not even a million views. I noticed !! Now, they certainly do. This should have multi million views in my honest opinion, that is sadly their loss.

Was at Sears Roebuck in LA....in late 50’s and wandered into record department and this piece was playing from original album. This 16 year old was blown away by this original sound ....my mother bought it for me ....although we couldn’t afford it....charged on Sears card ...over $20....a lot of bucks fir the time . Best money ever spent on me...listening ever since.....Dr, Albert Aguilera Long Beach Ca
