Is it really wise to have so many distractions during preflight?
Yea, if someone calls, what can you do?
I like the 'Chrisonthelake' chase cam. I made one several years ago from his video.
Nice video. I love the offset mounted chase camera. It give a great view of more of the pilot so you can see their inputs, etc and I like that it is theoretically further away from the prop when landing. Do you you have a video reference for how you made it?
Thanks, go to my channel, I have a separate video on how I made it. Cheers
@@cloudwalkerppg504 Thank you so much and Safe Flying!
Brandon is Correct. All flight what ever your flying, Paramotor OR 747 Altitude is your Life insurance. You have more time to settle into your flight and BREATHE 😊
I found that although I use the GoPro footage, I look around SO much in the air that if you try to watch the GoPro footage alone, that you'll get seasick. If I had only enough money to buy one camera, I probably would just stick with my swing-arm mounted Insta360 x3.
I know what you mean. When I see something of interest I usually try to hold my head steady, however more times than not I'm moving around looking at the general landscape and trying to avoid obstacles.
Great video, as a kid, I used to mow the runway when it was grass. How did you get stared with paramotoring? I’m looking to start, but not sure how to make it happen.
Thanks, you actually just gave me a good idea for a new video. I always wanted to go through training for flying fixed wing. I got started like many, watching someone flying in a CZcams video. You do not need a license or training to fly. I did not have the time off work to travel out of town to get training, so I self-trained. I bought a glider and practiced for 2 months by myself. Then I bought a motor and flew. It was definitely scary waiting for first takeoff (I am also afraid of heights), however when I was in the air, for the most part, I had no fear. As far as getting started, it depends how serious you are. There are places, that for a fee will tow you into the air then release the rope and you can float down. Also, places that you can take a tandem flight or flight in a trike. This may be a good start. Cheers
20 years ago I started working on my fix wing. I had a 4 year old at the time and ran out of time and money. Now I just want to fly out of my back yard and fly around forest lake. Can’t wait for the next video.
@@paulp6106 I didn't know you were local. I plan to fly at Forest Lake airport tomorrow. It will be the first day in about 2 weeks where it hasn't been windy. I plan to be there at 6:00pm
Another great video buddy!
Thanks It would be nice if we could get out flying, it 's been windy forever
I see you copied this from chrisonthelake and calling it your design. Chris's youtube video showed this design 11 years ago.
Hmmmmm......it was made out of foam board?
I am so happy to live in Florida where we don't really have cold weather. When we do, it's a few days, then back to moderate or warm. I learned to fly outside Vegas but it was October and nice weather. I don't think I would even try flying if it was uncomfortably cold. Dealing with some weird wind conditions right now. 5-6 mph but variable in direction. Very hard to kite in...and I need the practice.
I live in one of the worst places to fly for all the reasons you mention. Winds are often shifty/gusty and it gets quite cold here. However this past winter was unusually warm. It rained on Christmas day and we had almost no snow. Last year 22/23 we had near record amounts of snow.
@@cloudwalkerppg504 Wow. I see we have almost the same equipment. I am also on a Maverick with Moster 185+ but my wing is a 30 meter Ozone Mojo PWR 2. I am trying to burn off some weight (around 240 after the lockdowns) but also wanted a wing that would support the Maverick trike option if I decide I need it. I shattered both my legs skydiving back in the 90s and sometimes have ankle issues. I survived training on a dry lake bed but that was with a smaller wing. I am just getting back into this after a year but really want to get more kiting time before flying. Also trying to connect with the local group so I am not getting back into this solo, but they are usually out at sunrise. I am a sunset person and night person that stays up till 4am. I was out kiting today but the wind was coming from every direction at 6mph and wasn't steady. I can get the wing up both forward and reverse, but it doesn't;t stay up 10-15 seconds before coming down. When I was in Nevada training, I got really good at reverse and could keep it up all day with little effort. Some of the guys flying where I was training could kite on their backs, which was very impressive. I need to go to the beach to kite as the winds are usually steady and light-moderate in the evening.
@@parajerry I trimmed off a lot of my weight as I was self training and am at 170lb. So the glider I have is a little oversized (26M), should have a 24M but that's what was available at the time I bought (got it used). Kiting does help you to understand how the wing reacts to changeable conditions, I highly advise doing as much kiting as possible.
I would have left the pulleys in the factory location. The speed bar lines should be in line with the risers. With them going forward, there’s a geometric change happening if you tilt forwards or backwards, the amount of speed system engaged will change, it’s not a big deal but it will make a difference. And I would worry about the speed bar lines getting tangled in your brake hands or throttle while launching. Now, I’m a free flight XC pilot not a PPG pilot, we use speed bar a lot, basically we are either in a thermal or on speed bar.
I may try changing back next summer when it's warm and I am carrying less gear. Haven't used it in the winter, however almost used it two days ago when I got caught down wind in diminishing daylight. In this case trims full out got me back in time. Cheers
@@cloudwalkerppg504also, the amount of pressure you need to push bar should be easier when it’s inline with the risers, because in this video your not pulling straight down on the speed system, your pulling out, so with it in factory settings you should notice a little less pressure for speed bar. Also, I don’t know it PPG guys do this, or if it’s primarily a free flight thing, but a lot of guys upgrade their speed bar pulleys to ratcheting ronstat pulleys that are a much larger diameter. They are quite expensive but I’ve heard that they make a huge difference, I’m going to be adding a set to my pod harness. Another thing to think about (also my experience here is in paragliding wings) but the higher class gliders have less force to pull speed bar. My en-A wing has a very heavy speed bar, my high-B is definitely lighter.
Had me worried about you going over all those trees bro! I felt the fear in myself built up! Great video! Fly ON!!! 🍻
JUST TRY A FLY MORE. WHEN TAKING OFF GET TO A GOOD HEIGHT THEN DO ANOTHER PREFLIGHT CHECK. DONT DILLY DALLY AROUND WHEN TAKING OFF. GET TO A GOOD SAFE HEIGHT. THE MORE U FLY THE BETTER.THERES GONNA BE UPS AND DOWNS. ABIT LIKE LIFE. GOOD PRACTICE. LIVE AND LEARN OR LEARN AND LIVE.
Good stuff! Never enough kiting practice! This sport has soo much finesse to it, it just needs practice and a continued learning mindset! Kiting can be so much fun in itself! Keep it up man! Safe landings!
Flying is always the end goal, but if you can make practice enjoyable, that's a bonus.
hi very good..i need to do far more kiting.... but if the weather is bad and wet then I can't. I feel while kiting a pilot can bond with a wing. just by trial and error. mistakes will happen but if you're on the ground and not in the air you've got your wish. Bonding with the wing becomes one... thumbs up. and kiting keeps you fit too.
It's good to kick the rust off once in awhile. Cheers
Hi there. What length did you go for? 48"? I have the same Moster 185 rig but wasn't sure what length of throttle cable to go for.
I just checked and measuring from where the wire comes out of the housing to the very end of the throttle handle is 44". I did not shorten the cable, that length is how it was manufactured. Also I have removed the attachment of the throttle cable to the swing arm. I let that part hang free, as I found it to be too restricting. With that said my Maverick does have a gap down low in the netting and was afraid that the throttle cable could get shoved through there and reach the prop (this happened to Judson Grahm in one of his videos where his throttle cable got trashed). So I made my own section of netting to close the gap. I have never had a problem since. Cheers
You need a snowmobile suit and try mittens they are 10X warmer than gloves.
My torso was warm and mittens are impossible to fly with
Your nose and mouth are exposed?!?! You're insane! Cheers from one pilot to another.
Just another day in the land of ice and snow. Blue skies
My left hand froze on my last flight at 40mph. I didn't put a glove on before takeoff, and realized at 1000 feet that with the toggle and throttle in the way, I couldn't put a glove on.
Yeah, quite a bit difference from standing on the ground and flying way up high. Cheers
Great vid. I can recommend Power in Motion heated glove LINERS - wear a windproof but not overly bulky pair of gloves over the top. 12v and now 16v option - expensive but all the heat you’ll ever need. Buy cheap, you buy twice right? Suggest you hold the side of the brake handle triangle not the bottom, and tuck all finger ends except the 2 operating the throttle back into your palms (facing inwards not forwards.) Also, I recommend a helmet visor - makes a huge difference. Lastly, I suggest a pair of heated socks. But you must have space in the boot to trap the warm air - ideally enough boot room for a pair of woollen (NEVER cotton which absorbes moisture and therefore wicks away heat) walking socks over the heated socks too. Best wishes from the UK 👍
Thanks for the advice, I will try some of these suggestions on my upcoming flights. I decided earlier to try another pair of gloves which I thought were sold out. I will post an update on how these work out and look into the P in M liners. My face does not seem to get very cold, but a visor would be nice to have. Cheers from USA

Cool, thanks I just got-em. I've been looking for these for a month. When I have looked for these in the past, I would type into google and follow the link to Amazon. When you do this it goes to a screen that appears to be Amazon but it says the gloves are unavailable. So I just assumed they were sold out. Amazon must be the only place that sells them.
Sabot heated gloves..check em out..they get hot in 3 seconds
So I have heard, but they cannot be acquired. Everywhere I look, they are sold out or unavailable.
Good practice !! Lighter wind conditions on landing challenges your flare technique even more.
Ya, I'm not quite ready for low wind touch and go's ! Cheers
God I love flying these things...best thing I ever learned how to do...
Yep, I agree. You get a whole different perspective up there!
I have a Nitro 200 that is a little off from butt landings. I'll try your technique to see if I can get it back to square..Thks for the tips.
If the frame is titanium it takes a lot of effort. It's stronger than you might think. Good luck! Blue skies
Is it possible to poop mid flight? Maybe a small zipper access or something?? Thinking cross country trips…??
Based on the limited gas we can fly with, 5 gallons max, we are only able to fly about 4-6 hours at most. So I have always thought that I could hold it that long.
It's possible to poop mid-flight, but I'd think you'd want to do it as close to the end of the flight as possible. It all depends on your tolerance for weight shifting in a wet squishy mess.
Yeah man perfect s7ggestion. Go ahead and take a shit while flying. Let me know how that works out.
Gaggle audio cues are free for the trial period but then you have to pay for them. Might be the issue.
I am paying for Gaggle and the cues do work once I am in the air. Problem is when I start Gaggle it used to say something like "Waiting for takeoff" and it no longer does this, so naturally I am thinking that the app is not operating properly, so I restart and it does the same thing. That's not the only thing, when I used to start the app it would show a STOP button on screen and it no longer shows this button. Not sure what happened. Last time I flew it would state all the audio cues but it would not state altitude. Really weird
Did I miss the part where you flew into a cornfield?
See my previous video czcams.com/video/qqqXQ6Q0woQ/video.html both videos were created from one flight
Wow, I am at 85 flights and too nervous to fly that close to the ground yet ;-)
That's funny, I feel more comfortable flying closer to the ground. I'm afraid of heights!
rechecked. get to safe height.only do big ears in good weather/fix back brakes toggles.u can either hold the throttle. or place the throttle on your lap. on tick over. now with good gloves make sure you pull the ig ear lines! get hold then twist.don't worry.the more u twist and pull downwards the more the tips will flicker. keep a check on your height. ive put a video with big ears. and questions then ask or pm . iam here to help. be prepared far more. preflight checks etc good clothing. good leather gloves
peace of .... cake . live and learn .or learn and live congrats. wear good gloves makes it easier. and decent water proof boots.

Thanks, gloves and better footwear would definitely have come in handy Cheers
Why don't you specify which lines you are pulling? lol
The red ones lol. Gonna have someone else trying a frontal. It helps if you hold your hands on the risers with thumbs down and flip hands so you’re not grabbing the lines with soft hands…
Idk who told you to grab the lines but you grab the split a on the actual riser it is easy
It would have been a "one and done" if the glider manual was properly worded. Since the manual was not clear I was a little more cautious on what lines I pull that could potentially collapse the wing.
Nice! Now that u have some time under your belt, you should tie in your tip steering to 2D. Game changer on the spyder
2D is definitely getting closer to the top of the list, though due to the awkwardness of wearing gloves in the cold, I may wait till next spring before I attempt. Cheers
Nice flight. If you don’t mind what size wing and how much do you weigh? I love that GoPro chase cam Pepsi bottle. You know what Red. Always said “ if the women can’t find ya handsome, well at least they’ll find ya handy” hahaha

@cloudwalkerppg504 i sense sarcasm lol. I meant that a fpv would be awesome for doing this. I'm struggling to put mine on, and you have the exact same setup. There's just some things from the angle you filmed that I couldn't see.
@@MrNawtty This was one of the first videos that I made, so it's not the greatest, A tripod pointing the camera downward would have been better. Aviator has basically the exact same video, split into two parts (packing chute and installing chute).
@cloudwalkerppg504 I'll look that up, thanks! How's it feel flying righty with it reversed? I fly righty, too. I have left side neuropathy, so I can't control throttle. I didn't know you could swap pouches!
@@MrNawtty It's not that flying with a right throttle is a big deal, it's more that when you switch the pouch from the left to the right side, when you zip open the pouch it zips upward (instead of downward) so you have to be careful when you unzip in the air that the contents of your pouch does not empty to the ground. I still have never used that pouch while in the air, I just keep spare tools and spark plug in there just in case I need to make modifications on the ground far away from the LZ. Here is a link to the spare chute install -------------> czcams.com/video/EYYzRdLIi-k/video.html
i am getting ready to watch this from first to last second. but you know that i ONLY learn to fly to touch clouds? this is my biggest dream. i am around my 16. total flight as well i think. somewhere below 20 for sure. and i didnt had the chance to get over clouds yet. seeing you to go over them is exciting and frustrating same time. i am beyond jealous! congrats... now i am watching😅
12:10min the thing you see is called a cloudbow and comes from the sun directly behind you. it appears as rainbow in humid air like clouds or fog when sun is shining above you. you can sometimes also see it in the ground its grass is wet.
Give it time, wait for a day with stable air and broken clouds and go for it. What I see as your main problem is the limit on your battery charge. It took me 20 - 30 minutes to get to 2500 feet where this particular cloud bank was hanging. When I was watching some of your videos in the past I recall the battery charge on the motor being around 20 - 30 minutes. Clouds can reside at a wide range of altitudes. I was trying to film another video recently of a trick where I wanted to be at least 1500 feet just in case I needed to throw the reserve. The cloud bank was solid and when I approached the bottom of it I was only at 900 feet so I decided not to attempt the trick. So I just wait for another day.
@@cloudpandarism2627 That's cool, I never heard of that before. Thanks!
@@cloudwalkerppg504 thanks alot for that info. i already have like 4 different battery packs. including a new one which will last easy to reach 1000m or more. cloudbase usually is around 800-900m. i tested that countless times with FPV drones before. look forward to my first cloudwalk mister cloudwalker. 😘😆🤪🤩
@@cloudwalkerppg504 is true. i dont care about doing tricks, spirals, barrel rolls, cross country... the only thing i want is touching clouds. had that dream since i was like 10 years old or so. i am always flabbergasted how people fly over clouds and be not in awe. i would probably sob like a little school girl 🤣
Whoa a couple of those were close but that's the best way to learn foot drags...Usually trying to maintain level at 20ft ,then 10 ft ,then 5ft..once you can stay level there you should be able to foot drag no problem.
Ya I can maintain a variance of 2 to 3 feet, not the 1 foot needed for hard surface. That's why I'm "not ready for prime time"! Cheers
Awesome flight! Love all the fall colors around the lakes.
Nice job, as a new PPG pilot myself. I like seeing that you are trying new things and trying to be safe with it.
Thanks Scott, the true enjoyment of paramotoring is trying all the things you would not be able to do if you were stuck on the ground.
Best way to scope out a deer lease 👍👍
Scope out deer migration patterns as well. You can see them walking their same beats
Doing great. I would recommend once the wing is up and A's released give some throttle to keep it up there. The whole time keep checking your wing tips and get under the low side. You did really good. I wouldn't be able to run that far.
Thanks Dan, At that time (my 3rd ever flight) I was still afraid to hit the throttle right away. Thanks for the comment. Cheers
@@cloudwalkerppg504 Everyone kept telling me the same thing. "Hit the gas earlier so you don't run so far. I like to have just enough throttle that the wing is supporting the motor and it's pushing me along. I give the glider a couple of quick checks left and right, no lines twisted, and only then do I goose it. At this stage in my learning, I'd rather run a little more than rush a crappy takeoff. If I'm still running, I can always just let off the gas.
You didn't do bad at all. On those attempts it you had just stepped towards the low side and kept moving forward you would have been good. Great job! In low wind its especially important to get on the throttle once the wing gets up and not hesitate.
Can get in the air on most attempts now, but at this time was very hesitant to hit the throttle. Cheers
Sounds just a little rich
