The Audubon Sessions
Registrace 27. 09. 2015
Since 2012, Rhodes College students have been booking, filming, editing, producing and promoting a live music web series called "The Audubon Sessions" shot in one of Memphis’ hidden treasures - Elvis Presley’s first purchased home at 1034 Audubon Drive. The students involved in this project are a part of The Mike Curb Institute for Music, which was founded by Nashville record executive Mike Curb at Rhodes College in 2006 to give Rhodes students opportunities to research, preserve, and promote the music of Memphis. Elvis’ house on Audubon is one of many resources available to students as part of the Curb Institute.

Thought I heard Kenny Vaughan of Marty Stewart’s band say he took some lessons from Bill when he was young?
yeaaaaaaaaaaaaah !!!!!!!
The mistake is having him talk first. It works better if he talks after he's been playing for a while.
🙏🏾🙏🏾
11:33 TREMELO > TWANG alert!!!
12:00
Ive been listening to this for years and to me these 60 minutes or what are still the best piece of music on the whole internet
Agreed!! I have listened so many times, and it is still fresh and incomparable
What is the status of the house these days?
Keep it up until the wheels come off…yes!
Bill ; when he play "jazz/free-jazz/Zorn's music like "New Traditions in East Asian bar bands" or Godard/Spillane : optimise him guitar game in thar concert he take Elvis reprises like he take an alternate take (like Goldfinger)
! ! ! A - W - E - S - O - M - E ! ! ! I never use that word, but really. Love, he makes the tele a whole orchestra.
My god… she’s such a sensational soul… a story teller, an entertainer, a poet, an orator of psalms that lift spirits and sooth souls 🙏🏾❤️😊 - organic moonshine roots music 😂😁✌️love it!
She's very good!
29:40 This world
Yes but is it really jazz ?
All music played by Jazz musicians is and I repeat is to be precise call it CONTEMPORARY JAZZ. A good Jazz musician can play any silly little song and make it into a masterpiece. Miles Davis did it before anyone else.
33:00 MONK Epistrophy
I agree he's not a true jazz guitarist IMO but a player of Americana and Popular music.
Let him play, .he is strugling talking.
How can anyone meet this woman; hear her sing and listen to her talk and not be captivated by her?
I just love her…something so special and really ethereal but completely down to earth. She’s a Star!!
sooooo goooooooooooooooooooooooooooooodddddddd
Found her by accident LOVE THAT SMILE! :) from NY that accent is so charmimg :) I guess they really talk like that in Tennessee
Sensationally unique.
I think the introduction questions threw him off his playing.
Trying to introduce him as special he isn't living in that place and gets confused by what the lady wants. Learning experience for her.
Memphis love all the way to Florida
Martin 000-15m great Guitar. She's such a Sweetheart, and that Hair. Can think of so many Dylan Ballads that would suite her Voice and Guitar playing Style.😊😋🤗
Found out she is a Dylan fan..and he loves her music :)
She does Tonight I’ll be Staying Her With You. Nails it.
Monster concert
Althought this music belongs to the category of ''ultra modern'' ''uncompromized'' ''new staff'' and whatever in this field ,,, the phrasing consists of things we had before bluesy riffs , common scale intervals even simple folk changes ... Of cource best use of guitar effects is taking place .
The King would approve.
What guitar is that??? A Tele....??
I can't stop marveling at Bill Frisell's artistry, talent, and subtlety. I wish he was my sensei :) .
23:32 I am shocked, a kid actually feeling it and taking it all in and not on his phone!
The beauty in hypnosis…….wow !!
Bill Frisell is just so amazing. He inspires me so much, I listen to him all the time!
Mesmerizingly beautiful…..
all that came from a basic i 4 5 wow
Fantástico! a fantastic summary of the beginning of rock, enriched
My God.... Wonderful... Perfect love this... 🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷👽👽
This must be a trick, it is impossible to do what Bill does.
-I'm from Memphis, and I just bought a Squier Stratocaster off Craigslist - I want to learn how to play the guitar.. I mean this, in only the best possible way... although Bill Frisell's been playing his entire life, he strikes me as a guy who's just now discovering the guitar, too ✨✨✨✨ -p.s. back in the 80's, I saw Shawn Lane play, at a club down on Beale Street.. he played a very🔥nice rendition, of "Hotel California", and we were formally introduced between sets... hats off, to Mr. Lane.
Mister Frisell you are a genius . if we can all describe the music , Well you are exactly what is all about the music. I love the cotton field, humidity ,and all about you describe how magic the music come alive ,the presence and the expression. I know exactly that dimension, I felt it many time Before. You have being part of in my daly functionality . No To many left in the world. Thanks for exiting.
Also, Kenny Wollesen's equally soulful vibe and beautiful communication...
I feel truly alive listening to Bill Frisell!
Two guitar players that have truly scared me, Allan Holdsworth, and Bill Frisell. Bass player would have been nice. Still pretty amazing though.
Nice
sounds like Bill was using an EQD Afterneath pedal that swirling reverberation sounds amazing The cam just showed his pedalboard it's the Green Monster Line 6 Delay pedal wow no wonder it was the most sort after pedal back in the day.
It’s just the hall of fame reverb and the delay
@@sooperheep ah ok very cool sounds
Only one Hendrix..only one Frisell….
The first time I listened to "The River and the Thread," I thought "This is going to win a Grammy." It's wonderful to see & hear Rosanne performing solo.
