As a long time Tiger owner, I look at a lot of Roscoe's videos. I cant remember the other 6Cyl videos showing the statistics, but here is my guess, more climb performance, less useful load, cg moves forward, fuel consumption increases, and the holly grail: unfortunately NO change to cruise speed at WOT between 6-9K feet. The Tiger is an awesome aircraft for the money. We all want more top speed. This doesnt do it. In the log run, a 200HP IO360 might overcome the climb performance challenges with minimal impact to other variables, but again guessing no real world cruise speed change. Comments? Maybe this will get your juices flowing.... As horsepower rises, engines roar, Yet speed gains little, just a bit more. For wings and drag, the truth we find, It's not power that leaves the ground behind.

Why not re-cut the audio and include some useful information? Like the engine (Lycoming IO-540, maybe? plus the dash number would be useful to many of us)? The prop system that failed, and what part exactly failed, and how it failed, and how we can learn from that failure? Was it a governor, and was it okay but mis-adjusted? And how the heck did that happen without being caught by a ground check? Or did it actually fail some time after takeoff? Was the airplane flyable with the prop on the low pitch stops, at least at max RPM and with enough power available to sustain level flight (to limp around the pattern)? The Tiger is a pretty airplane, with the 260hp it would be sprightly.

Yes it does, climbs like an angel and will cruise, leaned out at altitude 165 knots (Vne) on 11 gph. 30 knots faster than a stock tiger and only 1 extra gph. A normal Tiger is producing 125 - 135 hp initially on the take off roll, developing more as you get some speed and rpm approach redline. In this Tiger with the constant speed prop, your take off roll is at 2700 rpm producing in excess of 260 hp and away you go!

I bought my AA-1B in 1981 for $4200. Still own it today. I bought an AA-!A in 1983 that had an 0-320 for $6500. In 1985 I sold that AA-1A with the runout 0-235 from my -1B for $5K (less some radios I stole), . In 1976 I purchase a '46 Cessna 120 for $3200. This was all back in the day when Cessna, Piper, Grumman and others were turning out thousands of airframes a year and they were expected to last not much longer then cars in that era. Price depreciation after original sale matched that of cars. Not today!

About 67% deprecation, the same rate a car of the day would have gotten. I figure today it would be worth $40 - 45K with the 0-320 and other upgrades.

I don't like to make negative comments because they aren't productive, but this time around I have to tell you guys at "Grumman Pilots" a thing or two. Below I commented that I bought AuCountry's nose strut fairing and that it lowered my peak cht by 20 degrees. You made a comment implying that I was ignoring the real problem while the the "disease" goes merrily along. First off I am deeply insulted by that comment. I consider it smug at best and at worst ignorant. I meticulously maintain my Cheetah and over the years five mechanics have praised the care that I give toward all aspects of her care. Engine cooling issues are a real concern and all the mechanics that have addressed my issues see no real, problems with the baffling. You apparently have the magic bullet . I have to add here that you flatlanders probably don't have the challenge of high temp desert flying when temps are often in the 90's. Not all of us have your expertise at hand or can fly a thousand miles for you to bless our humble ships. So to imply that I have been ignoring a problem is elitist for you to say. In fact, I have watched many of the videos you guys have produced and in my opinion, for the most part, the airplanes you work on look like garbage to me. No wonder you have such a cynical view. I would be ashamed to bring an airplane to you that looked like the ones you get. So just to finish I think you folks are snobbish and I wouldn't let you touch my airplane unless I had the many thousands of extra bucks it would take for you to do what you guys "think is right".
