great cod but i am going to kragerø in norway and the cod in the seas weigh 22kg as normal. what bait should i use?

The new rules suck but also good. It will bring back the population. It worked for the cod. I have caught a ton of large Stripers. Pretty much every striper that is over 36" is a Female and the problem is that the larger fish are the keepers and 99% Female. 55" is my biggest, Troll the inner cape with weighted jigs that bounce of the bottom and semi-flexible line so it dont wear off jigging and trolling at the same time. The inner cape there is like almost no seaweed or rocks its all sand. We have been keeping are boat down the cape this year instead of Hampton! Def did not use it as much!! P.S. Have you been in the tackle shop on plumb island right before the sharp left(those who dont know only one road basically to the end)? look at the wall and it has the stripers by year since the 50s or 60s and you can see the monsters shrink decade by decade just from the many pics on that wall. I have not been in there for like 3 years but its been up for many years prior and i would imagine its still there.

Cod are overfished to the point where the fishery is on the verge of collapse. Haddock are right behind them because they keep dropping the size limit. 18 inches barely enough for a sandwich. Striper also in danger. A slot limit of 1 fish between 28 and 31 inches. This is due to a combination of Commercial and rec fishing. Rec fishing not being enforced and hundreds of "catch and release" fish dying after they swim away. Winter Flounder made a comeback a few years ago, but the draggers took care of that in just a few short years. Used to be you could catch your fill of whiting back in the day. Not anymore. Same with Weakfish. Bluefish are also on the decline. Bluefish! 3 a day limit. Herring, 'nuf said. Halibut are more like a white whale these days. With multiple fisheries in trouble, the bait fish were flourishing because there were so few predators. Until the commercial boats started to target the the Pogies and the Mackerel, hence the bag limits. So yeah, you can thank them and the division of fish mismanagement for the limits and the lack of fish.

i mean how bout reel up to the swivel then grab the jig so you dont catch a hook every time you bring your catch in?

Hey Scott. I was just out near Jeffreys and I apparently wasn’t using enough weight to get down. Lots of scoping in my line. What weight sinker are you using and where do you get them? Please feel Free to give any advice. I was using a Hogy jig-biki, probably around 8-10oz. Maybe I should try a 16 oz sinker, but not sure where to buy them. Thanks
