My thoughts on the 2024 Arctic Cat Catalyst 600 146 so far after a few rides. Pros and cons of how this animal is performing
The Catalyst platform is sick.... Period
What is that clutch compression tool, and where can I find one?
It is made by starting line products
What the hell are they thinking with the oil reservoir right by your knee
It hasn’t been a problem so far but I see what you mean
Honest opinions, appreciate that! Also, nice lines!
How would you say it handles on the trail because some of the backcountry spots I ride to are long trail rides there
Not too sure with stock skis but it is very planted and stable with the Simmons
Looks good! Where did you buy the handlebars? :)
Thanks man
I’m a dealer for cfr bars at ten Lakes motor sports
60 mi? We wouldn’t make it far on the trails in WI.
does that thing wheelie good
Yes sir
Very nice
It's nice to see someone get straight to the point. Nice sled!
Thanks man!
Id say u should have this clutch rebalanced after add all this light hardware, probably one of the reasons they blow apart when guys change all this stuff and throw it back together. No line up marks to look for on these?
True as well, I’m not going to personally because I’m not worried about it, I’ve had them blow apart stock, that’s what poor manufacturing, quality control and heat will do sometimes
Am I missing something here? Lightening up the sled wasting money basically. U could lose 20lb easily and save money on big meals. Not being a dick but cmon. Kinda pointless
This is true, but rotating mass is horsepower to the ground however much it might be is irrelevant, the point of this sled was doing small little things to see what a 600 will accomplish, every sled I own is modded to the moon besides this one
Sounds like it’s running spot on. You planning any type of clutch kit for primary or secondary? I like how you keep it pinned. lol Sounds fun.
Thanks man! I may decide to turbo it, runs really good for a 600, if I did clutching I’d say a little bit more secondary spring pressure
Banger vid!! that 6 hundo sounds crisp
Thanks man! Pretty loud!
What camera do you use?
It’s a GoPro hero 7 black
@@tenlakesfreeriders5800 i use a hero 10 black and my videos are blurry...what setting do you use?
What can
Jaws rowdy can
That thing is super crisp! 146 going through the deep like a hot knife through butter
Yeahhh buddy 🤘
Great Vid Kyle!! I could listen to this all day!!! WOT
Thanks Kevin!
Full pinned wide open!
This is problably the only sled that would make me go down to 600 from 800 😍
you won’t have to go down when the 858 comes out
Awesome! I have the same but stock. Just came back from a ride!
Right on man! They rip!
Mine only has a can and some lightweight parts
Looks so fun
Stoked to see what you can make this thing do this winter!
Sick vid man!
typically when dealing with such small weights i remind myself I too, could lose 20lbs. lol
Yeah he’s pretty big for worrying abt bolt weights
Weird I made it to the clutch removal part and kept saying to myself why waste money on this stuff when he's a big boy. Not being a dick, but cmon. I can see doing all this if u were 180-200lb
@@kwmiked😂 you guys need to realize it’s more about doing something interesting to the snowmobile than it is losing weight from it, I can do everything on a 4 stroke Yamaha that I can do on this sled so weight really isn’t an issue.
@@kwmikedthe waste of money is debatable though, most of the work is rotating mass loss which is horsepower gained, if there was much option for other power short of big bore or a turbo I would have done that instead but I would have gotten the same comments 😂
Dud blue lock tight is good red lock tight is for when you never want to take it back apart
I’ve gotten to the point where I hardly buy blue anymore, using a small amount or red everything will still come back out, green is where you go seriously wrong
Where did you put the heat to on the primary clutch to remove the OEM 6 bolts? I couldn't get them out with heat worried I would temper some of the other parts.
A little around the spider and a little on the heads of the bolts, they didn’t come out easy at all
They were borderline ready to spin out once they broke loose
I spun on the first one so didn't bother changing them. I put good heat to it as well so was worried about tempering some other of the casting. Thanks for letting me know.
yall just gotto wait till the honeymoon period is over and yall will see.....its just another arctic scrap
Compared to what? Skidoo?
@@tenlakesfreeriders5800 who said anything about compared to?
@@darrrenbetker4266 nobody I guess haha, I just assumed. They all have their problems, cats have always seemed to hold up for me
No Arctic cat is a great sled
Would much prefer this over a skidoo at least this will get you back from your ride dependably
Watched your Blue River video and I was impressed with how well the Catalyst did compared to the other sleds you were riding with. FYI the Catalyst is ONLY a 146" track and a 600 motor. The other guys were riding minimum 154" tracks with 850 motors.
That must have been Jamie Iwaschuck in the blue river video, I’m in northwest montana. Yeah the catalyst was only available in the 600 but there was a couple tracks available for it 154 3 inch and 2.6 and the 146 in the 2.6 I rode them both last spring
I know people that have 800 ctec swapped the catalyst but none of them came that way, the 858 isn’t out yet, not even the black cat riders have spent much time on them, if any
We used to have a 19 alpha that was get hot very easily while trying to get to the deep snow. How is the new machine? It looks like it still doesn’t have a cooler in the tunnel like Polaris or skidoo. Do you see it getting warm easy?
So far I haven’t had much of an issue with cooling, about the same as the skidoo I owned last year, as long as you get off the side of the road a little it stays cool
Ya, that’s one of my biggest issues with cat, they need better cooling. No problems when u get to the good snow but on the crappy trails up it can be frustrating if there’s no snow off to the side. And from what I can tell the catalyst heat exchanger on the M is even smaller than the previous model, so I can’t see it being any better. I pulled the short heat exchanger out of my alpha and put in a longer one, big job but it makes a big difference
Needs a turbo
Would you buy it again if you had a do over? Or would you wait for the 858
I personally would go for the 858 for deep snow capability
Sick! We need some gopro footage of that thing in action! Keep up the great work bud
Thanks man! I’ll be getting some as soon as it snows!
Love the look of the 146 mountain sled chopped tunnel looks sick, the catalyst loos sick nice rig
Thanks man! It’s been a pretty reliable unit so far
@@tenlakesfreeriders5800 as soon as the f150 is paid off getting your same sled with the 858
Great vid! Btw, does anyone know why the belt drive housing seems to be pre drilled for a cover(?) that isn't on any of the sleds I've seen so far?
Thanks man! Ventilation possibly?
Stoked to see what you make of this thing.
What model are the Simmons skis the gen1’s or gen 3’s?
They are gen 1 Simmons , I prefer them to the other models
That’s pretty clean! Cant wait to see some future vids!
Thanks dude, gotta get my editing skills up 😂
Nice looking sled! Do you like the 146 or would you prefer the 154 after riding ?
This is my first 146 sled and I think with the 600 it works perfectly any longer and it probably wouldn’t have the lift I like, we haven’t had much deep snow here yet to be worried about the track length
@@tenlakesfreeriders5800 we are thinking of getting a catalyst this week and have an option of 146 and 154! Such a hard choice lol
@@Just3adventures Depending how deep your snow is, the 146 is pretty decent for all around snows where I’m at in montana
How fast does it go?
Almost 300 mph pretty fast 😂
