I think the scene in the sept was a good idea, but found it frustrating that Rhaenyra stops short of explaining the entire prophecy to Alicent. It's like once she hears the information she's looking for to answer her own question she doesn't take it any further. If you're trying to negotiate your way out of a war after there have been injustices and murders on both sides, you'd better have a damned good reason. A prophecy that could doom everyone IS such a reason. But instead she brushes it off as "it was this story my father used to tell," like NO dumbass, it's existential and the entire reason he named you his heir! To call that a missed opportunity is an understatement. It seems so pointless that they had that conversation only to resolve to go to war anyway. Rhaenyra, if she REALLY cared about the prophecy, could simply offer to step down from her claim and meet with the council at King's Landing to explain the prophecy to them and collaborate on a plan going forward. But I think she wants to be queen for the sake of being queen, like to validate her father's love for her. And Alicent obviously doesn't care that both her sons are rabid psychopaths, so she's an even worse problem.

I think the show has done an excellent job of showing that we shouldn't be rooting for either side. Rewatch season 1 without a bias for certain actors, you'll see they're both bad choices. Rhaenyra was hot headed and lacked proper guidance just like Aegon. She was used to breaking the rules and never getting in trouble for it. She happily had her way with Cole. She had no right to be the queen either. And do we really need to get into why people shouldn't be cheering for Daemon? He killed his first wife, kept his second wife from her home, and groomed his third wife. He made jokes about Viserys losing his son and wife. And finally he was responsible for the Blood and Cheese incident. Ironically the show has gone to great lengths to show Allicent is good but people hate her regardless.

It is logical. Rhaenyras parents loved her, cared about her, supported her, gave her attention… that’s why she is that kind of parent as well. Alicent is not that kind of parent because Otto was obviously not a caring father, and she lost her mom in young age. Now, of course, it is not a rule that children of bad parents are bad parents themselves, but I would say that this is definitely the case here. I don't think she is capable of doing any better.

The reason why Alicent was a bad mom is because lf her father. He was pushing ber to be obsessed with the idea that Rhaenyera was her enemy because she needed to make sure her children WERE the next in power and not Rhaenyera. When you guys come with the "she was only 15", you forget that in these times, women were raised to handle being a woman at that age. That includes being a wife and a mom at that age. Maturity was different. Maturity IS different in the rest of the world in current times because even environment plays a big role on it. Speaking of environment, Otto was Alicent's environment. This is why Alicent didn't know much better.

Yes you can. She was 15 years old forced by her father to marry a man more than double her age. She was forced to bear three children for this man as he rotted apart, who turned around and discounted every act, every duty, every sacrifice she ever made to prefer his first wife and his daughter over anything of hers. She was caught as a pawn in her father's game, but she wasnt allowed to get angry at him, so she reflected at Rhaenyra instead, the ex friend of hers who seemed to have all the freedoms she'd never been allowed. Im not excusing her, as shes made some seriously awful choices fully knowing the consequences, but it is entirely understandable why this whole family has massive communication issues.

Aemond had been the sole child Alicent fought for when his eye was slashed and held when he would get upset for being insecure and/or teased. Unlike Aegon, he never faced her constant belligerence. So, Aemond going to a brothel, is just him being unable to come to terms with the fact that he lost his favor from his mom for the first time in his life coz of the CRIME he committed. If anything he comes across as spoilt to me. Someone who has yet to learn how to reign in his temper and grow a thick skin for once. 😂😂 The only time she had ever been a bad mom to him was something that was done off-screen but greatly hinted at the aftermath of Aemond's eye loss. I love the perspective. Alicent is a C-word! Terrible mom, terrible human being, just TURRIBLE! I like how the show is taking the books and showing a true account of the events of this fictional story. I like Rhenera and her family, I hate the choices she made earlier on in her life which has put her throne, her sons and her dragons in jeopardy. The Greens are sad and miserable. I only like Helena, poor Helena, nobody listens to her. I feel badly for Aegon, he didn't even want the throne. Aemon has too much hubris, but I like him. Alicent is a prisoner, hypocrite and idiot. Otto's machinations has torn the realm to shreds. Criston Cole should be flogged, tarred, feathered and paraded through Flea Bottom as a fool. His imbecilic handling of the King's Guard, not making sure Helena had her own security detail, makes him DIRECTLY responsible for Jeharys' death! This portrayal of the show is IMMACULATE! Kudos to all the actors! They are killing it this year! Also, R.I.P Sers. Arrick and Erick , best scene of the season thus far!
