He never put the handkerchief in the egg that’s why he never shows the side with the whole without the handkerchief hanging out. And he’s holding the handkerchief with his finger in place. What how he switches hands..pretty obvious.

I appreciate that penn and teller don’t over analyze or dig too far into the trick. If they don’t know on the first try then they say they are fooled. Like the rest of us. I’m sure these two could figure it out given more time tho so I appreciate the we have 1 guess otherwise you got us mentality. And at the end of the day it’s about entertainment for the audience.

''''''' I'm thinking that a very small egg fits into a gag (generic name for a magician's prop) that LOOKS LIKE an extra large egg where the gag has hole for silks (a silk can compress to size of a cat's eye marble) ans said gag might even fold together after to help hide the gag. but yes, NO SWITCH, but probably white plastic gag that hides behind hand after egg is removed/broken

I got it. I'm 90% sure it's just a prepared egg the whole time that he pulls out of the box along with the bandanna. The egg has a hole in it and a membrane inside holding just the yolk. That's why he hast to break it up so completely and you don't see any clear liquid. He tricked them into thinking they've been tricked. He's not very verbally slick though, but with practice, I think he's going to be absolutely fantastic with the misdirection storytelling stuff (he knows it's not fake and isn't a great con artist just yet, why he stumbles over the word "plastic").

I can think of two ways he could've done it, but I'm not particularly persuaded by either. I just know that they're possible - that if I dedicated myself for a few years to learn some slight of hand, and was willing to put in the hours creating the props, would definitely work. One: You carefully paint an egg on one side to match the exact shade and lines of your hand, you apply adhesive to the other half, and you palm it as you retrieve the "Fake" egg sign from the box. Then you pull the switch, palming the fake egg in the right hand as you hold the real egg for the remainder of the trick, perhaps also with some adhesive helper to hold the palmed fake. It seems to me that actually this is the most plausible of my two ideas, as immediately after his hand goes into that box it looks like he is holding a whole real egg for all the moments following that (pretending to stuff a handkerchief back into it and pretending to pull the handkerchief back out of it). Two: You carefully prepare a real egg by emptying out the contents, perhaps spraying in a reinforcer to strengthen the shell, and then fill it back up with HALF an egg. You lay it on its side, spray in some more adhesive of some sort that will dry on top of your egg goo and create a membrane, thus holding a half an egg in only one half of the eggshell. Then you're just dealing with that prepared egg the whole time, stuffing the handkerchief into it and then pulling it back out - it was already a real egg. This second theory would explain why it doesn't seem like all that much goo came out and why he crushes everything to (perhaps) obscure the volume of it all rather than using his very dexterous hands to simply break it into two half-shells and dump the contents into the cup and keep the half shells in his relatively clean hands that he then wouldn't have to wipe off. By crushing the egg and dumping the whole mess into the cup he could be hiding the evidence of the prepared shell just in case Penn and Teller want to examine the cup. It's much harder to see that a prepared eggshell already had a hole in it if you've crushed it up. Both of these theories satisfy me that the trick could easily be done with training and preparation. Doesn't mean I know how it WAS done, and I'm sure P&T can think of many more scenarios this than I can. So, I'm guessing they give you the Fooled Us prize not if you did something they can't imagine ways of doing, but instead if they're simply not certain exactly how YOU did it. If I'm right about this interpretation of the show, it imagine it would be really fun then if they had an extra high prize for people who pull a trick that they don't feel they can even IMAGINE how anyone could do (which I doubt happens nearly as often as someone "fooling" them).

My thought is there's like a small rubber band or something glued to the back of the egg that he stuffs the silk into so that when he holds it up it's hidden behind the egg and not visible, then when he pulls it out a little and shows the back the silk covers where it's attached and appears to be stuffed into the 'fake egg' that's actually real

I think both the contents of the egg and the bandanna actually go inside the real eggshell, which has a carefully cut eggshell one method is to use a diamond disk and dremel. The egg itself doesn't have a seperate yoke it already mixed, also his thumb enter the hole as he is cracking it. So it means the eggshell does fall out of the eggshell but there is some other container or membrane keep the contents separate. It is a trick of volume IMO. Initial I though he might be palming the egg contents in something but burning his hands doesn't seem likely. Very clever.

You can see how it is done. Due to it is the same method as the original, just with an egg.

Wouldn't the egg be carefully cut open with a large enough hole, leaving only some egg yolk inside to do both egg cracking and egg stuffing with the bandana? A small membrane could be used to keep the bandana clean. Something like: /-----\ / O \ | | ________ \---------/

well, i thought this was a pretty common trick. i'll admit i dont know how to do it myself; but i have seen it at least 3 times in the past, done by different magicians.

He used the bandana to cover the cap stuffs the bandana, then gets to use the egg to good the cap, then the illusidory nature of the glass after, then pockets it in the napkin when he wipes off the egg bits? I'm no magician but that's my theory. Great performance still
