I just purchased a 1936 flathead 74 cc model 36R It was running two years ago but when I bought it the battery is some battery was dead . I'm trying to get as much research I can on the R36 in the future . Thank you for your awesome posting it was very clear and detailed.

Well, the old girl celebrates her 100th birthday this year, do you still have her? For those unfamiliar with J-models, they have a total loss oiling system, and you would need to top up the oil and grease the inlet rockers just about every time you fill up the fuel.
