Contains bits of musical shows that I adore. No copyrights violation intended. This is just a way to promote some of my favourite musical actors/actresses that are sometimes underrated.
Franklin Shepard, Inc. (from "Merrily We Roll Along") - Damian Humbley
My favourite cast. The BEST cast.

A beautiful rendition of "Left Behind" from one of my favourite musical actors. Taken from Jon's charming album, "Open Book".
Wishing for the Normal (Soho Cinders - 2011 Live Cast Recording)
zhlédnutí 7KPřed 11 lety
Sung by the amazing Amy Lennox and Jos Slovick. My favourite track from Stiles and Drewe's musical "Soho Cinders".
I love the reactions by the interviewer, and Frank himself. Obviously, Charlie is awesome.
i can’t stop giggling at the dramatic camera turn. just. “I am here with my mullet to serenade you about John Wilkes Booth”
I love how this and the 2004 cast are distinct but similar. If that makes sense.
Damn you John Wilkes Booth, you paved the way for this insanity
“Lots of madman have had their say, but only for a day”
Did Victor Garber say the N-word???
Sure did. I have mixed feelings around it being used it the musical. On one hand, it’s a slur and it’s jarring. On the other hand, it’s a slur and it’s jarring. You start to feel the tiniest bit of compassion for him and then he’s all “did you all forget i am a racist asshole? SURPRISE!”
@@annorabelle I honestly think that he used all these arguments because "I didn't like he freed the slaves" was pretty bad. him saying the n word just exposed him
This is so well performed that it’s a little hard to watch. Painful!
I find this more convincing than Daniel Radcliffe's performance. In fact I think the (2024) Broadway cast is overrated. Definitely competent, but overrated and overpriced. I'd love to have been able to see this MCF production.
Fantastic performance. Wrenching.
Typical since eventually especially with gold there is inflation.
I cannot stop watching this video and I want to live inside Patrick's glorious mullet. This song is so extraordinary. Blood in the clover......I cry
He is really good. Wow. I think I’m very much in the minority when I write that none of the clips I’ve seen from this musical intrigues me. It looks annoying and stressful, the plot.
Damien Humbly was utter perfection in this role.
Very smoothly done. Needs to be a little more manic, losing control.
He did that!
I saw victor garber in hello dolly! He's wonderful!
I always thought this song was Genious
Radcliffe was so great in this scene
He was amazing.
YES agreed!
I concur
I'm obsessed with this performance.
This number needs more energy and better acting. It's flat, lifeless compared to even the audio of the original.
Pity Humbley couldn’t reprise his role in the current Broadway transfer of the Maria Friedman production. Yes, she’s cast another British actor in the part but it’s Daniel Ratcliffe who is simply too superficial and not up to the job. Not worth the sky-high Broadway prices.
I will say though that this man also is wonderful and I look forward to seeing the full production online.
Live laugh love this song
Went to a Community Theatre production a few years back. It was well done and the actors were talented, except for Booth who COULD NOT SING. Sorry, you're going to do Assassins with a John Wilkes Booth who is tone deaf??!?!?! Um...no!
Brilliantly and beautifully delivered!
I LOVE VICTOR GARBER!!!!!
Extraordinary performances. Stephen Sondheim. Thank you, God, for the loan.
Perfect rendition of this.......song(?).......... Can still remember hearing this the first time on the Original Cast recording (the only thing anyone had to hang on to back in the day).......and goint......What the F.....? What is this.......?(without the benefit of seeing the play, the acting, making hay of the backwards plot...on vinyl).... and uhmmm, yes, is this a song? About as much as rose's Turn i guess - it's a thoughtprocess set to an inner rhythm and tune.......and the brilliance is that even when there's no singing, no music....the song or whatever it is never stops......it's clockwork driving you insane. And you can't perform something like this, unless you live it on stage. Get every meaning of every syllable out, and not out of your mouth, but from your toes tapping till the top of your (by the end) exploding skull. Compliments to this amazing actor but also to all the ones who went before and dared to perform this. And the mad devil genius who wrote it.
Wow! First time seeing that. What an outstanding and very specific version. Well done!
In my humble opinion, one of the best musicals ever written.
It's BRILLIANT and underrated. I'm obsessed
A masterpiece. And performed very well
Brilliant .. perfection.
While I usually prefer Michael Cerveris in this role vocal-wise (purely as a matter of personal preference - they're both brilliant), when it comes to acting Victor Garber really knows how to twist an audience's sympathy in exactly the way Sondheim intended for this piece. He makes you feel for the character and then BAM, smacks you in the face with the reality of who this guy was, spitting out slurs with such malice that it's genuinely uncomfortable to listen to. I don't think any other Booth can play that switch so perfectly and jarringly.
Wow! I first saw Victor in "Life with Judy Garland: Me and My Shadows". Never knew he was such a good singer too. Very talented man indeed.
The best production of the show I have ever seen. And I have seen several.
Masterful performance!!!
Really good, a wee bit too fast iMO, but that’s just because you can miss the jokes that come so fast and furious. (Altho if you’re watching this you are probably as obsessed as I am, and we all know the words by heart! lol)
I bought this from Digital Theatre and it was great, and then they took it down. I don't know why.
I had the same experience.
Me too. Luckily I recorded it from my computer to my pvr. So I have a copy of it preserved.
Because the production has now moved to Broadway and the producers don’t want us to compare the New York cast with the far superior London cast?
My first time really watching Patrick Cassidy, who looks eerily like his father Jack. Fantastic voice as well.
As much as I love NPH, he ain’t Patrick Cassidy
I just want a NPH Balladeer and Victor Garber Booth. Ultimate cast there.
The traitor Confederates attacked Fort Sumter, but its Lincoln who "turned his spite into Civil War." lol...yeah, right. Typical Confederate script flipping - accuse them of doing exactly what YOU did.
Never heard about this musical and now I know why - Stephen was not in his A game here
Funnily enough this is the one score of Sondheims that he himself considered perfect. I really recommend listening to the rest of the soundtrack as well as watching the videos about the composition of this show. Genuinely amazing
This London production was amazing. It overcame most of the book problems that have plagued it since its 1981 premiere. The same director is helming the new revival this year and I'm very hopeful, despite the casting of Jonathan Groff as Franklin and Daniel Radcliffe as Charlie.
I hope you're eating your words about the Broadway staging. It's incredible.
I watched the full production of this on YT last week, will watch it again this weekend I think. I have a ticket to the New York upcoming production with Groffsauce, Daniel Radcliffe and Lindsay Mendez!
@@judyn8227 Wishing you the very best of luck! I'm just praying everything goes to plan and I get to see Groff on stage. I've read rumours of it transferring to Broadway with Radcliffe and Groff but who knows?
@@capfan4549 That would be great! Let me know how you like the show
OMG he totally did and his applause was one of the longest sustained I have ever heard in my 42 years of seeing shows on Broadway. 😊😊😊😊
Did you like it?
@@loonylaura85I loved it. Everyone was tremendous but the 3 leads have such a wonderful chemistry together! ❤
Very good video dear friend and beautiful recipe stay connected with the new friend 💕💕
Goosebumps.
Fantastic performance!
This song gets stuck in my head all the time!!! 😂🤣😆 me and my brother love this one
