      I don’t want to jinx it but so far since the works been done it’s been holding on pretty well. They can always use work so if I had a ton of money to throw at it I would. I’ve still got a small coolant leak that’s not showing itself and an oil leak from the oil level sensor. I’ve also had a trans fluid leak that was due to an untorqued transmission pan but that was an easy fix. Cost wise, it’s just a gas hog.

  • @provectushydraulicas.l.4539

    Hi, I ran into the same issue as you. Except I only broke one clip but on both valves when I change them. I am going to try to paste the clip with a high temperature epoxy glue on both valves and hopefully it will work. But in case that doesn't work. Was it too much work to change the valve cover?

    • @venturevalzone2799
      @venturevalzone2799 Před 5 měsíci

      Everything that I read about these clips is once they break the epoxy won’t fix it, but if you’re willing to give it a shot. It’s honestly not a horrible amount of work if you know what you are doing. It took me a couple of days to pull it all apart but once I figured everything out I could do it in less than a couple hours. The worst part of it was moving everything around caused a bunch of other things to break like the coolant lines and such so it became a way bigger project then I initially intended. Do your safe a favor if you do replace the cover and buy new injectors off the bat. I’ve got the videos documenting the process for the valve cover. There are a lot of videos that show bits and pieces of the repair when doing timing chains but they aren’t practically helpful. Good luck though!

      My perspective of rovers as a whole is that they are great as long as you are for handy enough to commit to working on them with the expectation that it will always need to be worked on and that you can never rely on it. If you are looking at it for a daily driver and you need to get to and from work with out hesitation any given day of the week then I would avoid it. My wife and I both have motorcycles that we have as a back ups, she daily drives the Range Rover and I daily my disco. That being said they are great vehicles where mileage isn’t a concern. Just know if you pick it up you will most likely have a laundry list of quirks and issues you will need to tackle. Timing chain, supercharger isolator coupler, coolant lines, air suspension, and control arms are the main points I would make sure are sound on the Rover or else you will be in a world of heartache off the bat. I would deft get a gap tool if you plan to buy one or see if someone has one that would let you borrow it locally to you, or meet the seller at an Indy shop and run a diagnostic and inspection on it before buying. If you pick it up you will want to get a gap tool asap, it’s the difference between keeping your cool and going mentally insane over every weird code that pops up which will be often.

      It’s in Ocala nf and it’s one of that you have to find. Quite a few people that spend time exploring out there know the spot but part of the fun and adventure is mapping and exploring which makes spots like this even better.

      @@christopherblaisdel If you don’t enjoy the exploring part then why would you want to go remote camping in this manner, let alone watch my videos. A top of that there are plenty of options at state parks and local campgrounds that would remove the “fun” that you’re worried about. To answer your question more bluntly, it’s the nice way of saying no I’m not telling, but I would hope that was an obvious.

    Could you do a video on bleeding the system?

    • @venturevalzone2799
      @venturevalzone2799 Před 7 měsíci

      If I end up doing another bleed in the near future I will. Your best bet is to get a vacuum pump to bleed the system with. For a quick explanation though fill your coolant tank, crank the rig and bring up to 2000-3000 rpm’s and keep it there. Turn on the heater on the truck at full blast. On initial start crack your bleeder nut on the back side towards the battery until you get a steady stream of coolant (only break it loose enough to let out the air, you do not want to do this when it is hot because it will go everywhere and you risk the bleeder nut popping off and causing harm to you or the vehicle. Be careful cracking these as they are plastic and prone to breaking. I would recommend ordering the brass replacements prior to doing this to save yourself the headache of it failing during bleeding or later when you are driving.). Once the truck heats up keep running until you feel hot air come from the vents. The hotter the air the less air in the system. You have to run it until the thermostat opens to cycle the full system. Once you get to this point you can cautiously back the bleeder but on the coolant reservoir to let out air, keep cracking and closing this bleeder nut as air builds up. You should notice a big difference in the temperature from the heater at this point. Keep doing this until there are no more air bubbles. (All of the above is done while the heat is running and the motor is between 2k and 3k rpm’s. This is a 2 person job). Once you feel good with your bleed then turn off the rig and let it cool. DO NOT open anything on the system until it is completely cool, if you do it will draw air into the system and you have to start over. Once the motor cools, about 2 hours, top off the coolant and do it all over again. After you feel the air is out of the system let it sit overnight, I’ve heard some people leave the cap cracked on the reservoir to help let air escape, this will allow the air to settle. The next day top off the coolant and repeat the bleeding process. Your rig should be blowing extremely hot air from the vents once warmed up, temp gauge should be sitting in the middle. Keep a close eye on the coolant level for the following few days to top off incase there were any trapped air pockets. I would recommend being very confident doing the bleeding process, they are very finicky and will over heat in an instant. They are difficult, take your time, repeat the process as many times as you need to until you feel 120%. These motors leave very little room for error. Hope this helps!

      You can order them from Amazon, eBay, Atlantic British, lucky8, rovers north, or almost any other Rover supplier. They were about $170us. Just try to get OEM, there are cheaper options and they are junk.

The tires that came on the rims were brand new and didn’t want them to go to waste especially as the wife is using it mostly for highway miles currently. They have also been low priority since all the other issues took precedence. Gravel roads are about as much as I’ll be doing until I can throw some on 🥲.

    Sounds like timing chain guides. Common problem on the 2010-2012 L322 5.0. Can be pricey but there is a zip tie method to help update the guides and tensioners. You can find it on youtube. Unless you have a supercharger, then it could be the worn out coupler.

    • @venturevalzone2799
      @venturevalzone2799 Před 9 měsíci

      Timing chains are good, checked them in a later video when I did a valve cover. The noise is most likely dirty valves and old injectors. Also had some bad seals in the intake manifold which was causing it to run really rough
